  • "Seating in lounge too soft - no support."

An empty cupboard would have been appreciated - we had to use valuable work surface for our cereal packets but otherwise kitchen good. Bed very comfortable & bathroom excellent - loved the mirror.

Thank you for your feedback. The owner will be able to see these suggestions and can action where necessary. We are glad that you found the beds comfortable and enjoyed your stay. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "What an absolutely lovely place to stay, parking at the front door, fully equipped kitchen (we didn’t once think we should have brought this or that with us), huge comfy bed, a lovely big shower cubicle (one of my holiday home gripes is a lot of places don’t cater for showering people over 6 feet tall and I end up crouching with a chest height shower, not in this one thankfully!"

), and all a two minute stroll down into Ambleside. All the local walks were straight out of the door, with the kitchen and bedroom windows looking up at Wandsfell and a front window looking across at Loughrigg both views served as weather indicators most mornings! Over the years we have stayed just around the corner from this place in a flat on the Falls estate, but this just seems more convenient and quieter. Will definitely be back to stay here.

Has all information about the appliances in the property.Super king size bed very comfortable, large fantastic shower, lovely kitchen. The kitchen, bathroom seems to be reasentley new the front room is clean and comfortable but a little dated.Situated in a very quiet holiday complex with your car parked outside your front window and a 3 minute walk to the busy beautiful Ambleside town this place is better than perfect place to stay.We used the buses mostly to get around as it was only £2 each way to visit all the other lakes around. We would 100 % recommend this property to everyone.Thankyou for a great stay.

  • "We had a wonderful week staying at Troutbeck."

The property was immaculate and very well kitted out. The kitchen and bathroom are fitted and equipped to a high standard. The bed was massive and comfortable. My only criticism is the settee, which could do with updating. It is very low and soft and not so easy to get up once you have sat down. Recycling facilities on site would be a bonus. We are already looking to book a return stay.

  • "This was the second year running we've stayed at Troutbeck."

It's ideally situated, quiet location but just a 5 minute walk to the centre of Ambleside. The apartment is ideal for 2 people and being able to park right outside is a bonus. For some reason the wifi didn't work the first couple of days we were there but apart from that everything was great.

  • "The property is really well located in Ambleside for both walks and going into Ambleside for food/drinks."

The car parking space outside the property is ideal. The bathroom and kitchen have been refurbished fairly recently but the lounge and bedroom particularly the bed, which was quite uncomfortable needs updating a bit. The kitchen is well equipped but fairly small, even for two, and there was a lack of storage space for our food. The WIFI was weak and dropped in and out so could do with strengthening. Overall and taking all the comments I’ve made into account, the property is well located, good for two people and we enjoyed our walking week in Ambleside.

Troutbeck is such pleasant place that we have been to twice and will definitely come here again. An ideal location both within the Lakes and also within Ambleside. Thank you for keeping such a beautiful place.

  • "Very well equipped for such a small apartment."

Only complaint was poor quality pillows which gave no support. A good night's sleep is so important. Unfortunately I have returned home with back pain !

  • "The property was excellent and surprisingly quiet as it has other properties on either side and above."

Parking was good. The facilities were really excellent - the property has great attention to detail (a hot-water bottle!) and a very good selection of books, DVDs and maps and information about the area. All the furnishings and fittings are good quality and the shower was excellent and roomy. Only very small niggles: 1. We couldn't get the DVD to work (we got it to turn on) as the only remote that seemed to be the DVD wouldn't work, despite changing the batteries. 2. A non-slip shower mat would be useful. We had to buy one. 3. We understand that the kitchen is small but there was very little storage space, especially for vegetables (we had to store ours in a bag in the sitting room). Any suggestions?

Good location, only issues for us were that the soap in the bathroom was almost empty and the pillows were not very ‘plump’ and supportive.

It is convenient in all sorts of ways. The only problem we had this year concerns the poor washing-up standards of previous occupants. We will almost certainly stay here again.

My only suggestion would be to consider having a second set of keys in the flat for us both to use. This would reduce the worry of locking ourselves out!

  • "We had a fantastic holiday in the lakes and Troutbeck was the perfect little base."

Just a 3-minute walk down the hill to the beautiful town of Ambleside (with plenty of cosy pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops) it's perfectly located for exploring Lake Windermere (a 20 minute walk to the pier) and the fells and mountains nearby (we'd recommend Loughrigg Fell and Wansfell Pike, both of which are good, steady walks with stunning views). Rydal is also a short walk away, and is a scenic little village with plenty to see (Rydal Water is spectacular on a clear day). The apartment itself was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. The kitchen and bathroom have obviously been recently refitted and were sparkly and new. The living room was a little dated, but that's a minor gripe. The books and leaflets with recommended walking routes were really handy too (we did a few of these!) and the check in/out process was a piece of cake! Overall, a cosy little retreat in the perfect location! We'd return in a heartbeat.

  • "Hi. Your online description states fridge/freezer."

Not so. It's a grudge with an ice box compartment as correctly stated in the property's inventory. Disappointing for us as we had bought some stuff for the freezer on our way to the property! We had an issue with an annoying leaky and constantly dripping gutter. Dripping from roof of property onto roof of our bedroom resulting in disturbed sleep. Waited till Monday morning 4th October to report it (not an emergency so couldn't contact anyone over weekend) Went to Ambleside office to report issue. All sorted by t time. Massive thanks to the young lady on duty that morning. Very friendly, apologetic and efficient and not been working there long. Pl pass on our appreciation to her. Ta.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
