Comfortable cottage in a unique courtyard setting, surrounded by beautiful countryside, located just outside Cartmel.
Cottage furniture was quality period style; carpets and decor in generally good condition, but some minor maintenance to address at ground floor level. Loved the rear stable door leading to a small private patio area with views of the hills to the North and East. Victorian walled garden- close to the cottages was a bonus.
Apart from the settee, and armchair, being well past their best, I could not fault the accommodation, set in beautiful surroundings, long walks directly from the door, pubs and restaurants and shop, within a 2-minute drive, very helpful estate staff, our two whippets loved it.
Would not hesitate to book again.
Gamekeepers cottage is in the most beautiful relaxing surroundings and countryside, The location is brilliant 5 minutes into Cartmel and 10 to grange over sands, The cottage is a good size with great bathroom overhead shower is fab, powerful and a great bath!
! The bedroom and bed where comfy too, We enjoyed just sitting outside the cottage with total peace and watching all the bees, butterflies(never seen so many!!) To our joy just above our cottage two swallows nest was an absolute delight to watch the baby birds popping their heads in and out whilst the parents back and forth feeding!! The walks from the cottage with our dog Alfie where wonderful, Really couldn't of asked for a better location, The best we have been too and we've stayed in many cottages!! Unfortunately the cottage is in need of a bit of TLC, There was a musty smell which was due to damp by the back door, There was no hoover or brush to keep onto of carpets etc, We did have a few issues on arrival with the oven and microwave but we're addressed right away from the staff who were a delight and very knowledgeable about the large Georgian House on the grounds and estate, We had a lovely little courtyard off the back of the house which was overgrown and a little bistro set which was dirty, Which I cleaned up a and weeded as it was a great space in the beautiful sunshine, But overall the cottage is great and could be fabulous with some issues addressed and a good deep clean, But if you can overlook this it is the most relaxing place to chillest relax and clear your mind of everything!!
