The house is set in a beautiful, quiet location, not far from the centre of Wark. The house is clean and tidy. The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The weather was so good, we mainly ate outside on the patio. It is centrally located for both Coast and countryside There are a number of walks nearby. We feel it is a privilege to stay at the Lodge and will book again, when available. We highly recommend Romsey Lodge.

The area was beautiful we had some great walks, thankfully the area is covered in castles and Roman forts which is brilliant for days out, we attended the battle steads in wark and the Gun in Risdale which were both superb. Romsey lodge was beautiful, it was great reading about Bill and Jude and their experiences, Hopefully we will get the chance to go again! Thanks. David

Dear David. Thank you for the excellent and comprehensive reply! We're pleased to learn that the whole family loved the house and area, and that you made use of the local pubs. The Gun is of additional interest to us as it is community owned and run, and doing fabulously well from all accounts. We hope you are able to visit again one day. Kind regards, Bill & Jude. • "We had a wonderful stay at Romsey Lodge."

The house was absoluely immaculate and stocked with everything we could possibly need (and some luxuries - champagne, biscuits, fudge and more). The location was perfect for us too. We were able to walk the dog along the river and saw herons, cormorants, deer and what may have been a mink (definitely not an otter). The wood burner kept us warm and cosy every evening. Lots of places to visit locally and the food at the Battlesteads Hotel (within walking distance) was excellent. We hope to return next year.

Dear Diana. Thank you for letting us know about the key points of your stay at Romsey Lodge. Linda, our housekeeper, does a fantastic job in getting the house so well prepared for incoming guests. It's so nice for her to be told this by guests too. I'm also pleased you enjoyed the little 'luxuries'. You may well have seen a mink. There are otters in the river here, but mink are occasional unwelcome visitors. We hope you visit again one day. • "The property and location are wonderful."

The photos don't do it justice. It is secluded and peaceful. Set next to the North Tyne River, we had wonderful views from the house and beautiful nights to sit and watch the stars on the bench. Dog walks on the doorstep. Loved watching the fish jump out of the river to catch bugs. Spotted a heron, pheasants and other birds. My husband spotted a deer and lots of squirrels. The house is comfortable and homely, with everything you need. Hexham is close enough to stock up. We also visited Newcastle for some Christmas shopping. Loving the Quentin Blake Fenwick window display. Also visited Kielder Water. We visited out of season but still plenty to do and see. Thank you for the bottle of bubbly, biscuits and fudge. N8ce surprise! Would love to return as ideal spot to visit our son at Uni.

Hi Diane. Thank you so much for your comprehensive feedback. We are delighted that you had such a good experience when staying at Romsey Lodge. It is also good of you to note the local attractions you visited. Very helpful for future visitors. We very much hope that you'll be able to re-visit! Best wishes, Bill & Jude Property Owner

Dear Jason. Many thanks for your review of Romsey Lodge. We are pleased you considered the property and it's location excellent. • "The house and it’s setting is perfect, it’s even better than the pictures!"

We spent many hours sat on the patio looking out over the river watching fish jump up, herons and ducks and even deer crossing the water each morning. There are lots of nice pubs near by for food and plenty places to visit in beautiful Northumberland. Would definitely recommend 5*

Dear Pamela. Thank you so much for your 5* feedback. We're so pleased that you enjoyed the house and views so much! We found it difficult to capture and describe the house and views accurately without appearing to 'over-egg the pudding', but when guests tell their stories it builds a wonderfully independent picture for those that haven't seen it. I notice we dropped a point for Comfort, but you didn't state why. We have gone to great effort to ensure the house is as comfortable as possible and would love to know how we can make it even better. Please do let us know, privately if you like, so we can continue to get full marks for Comfort. We look forward to a return visit! Best wishes, Bill & Jude. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location, plenty of room for relaxing and dog friendly."

The only thing lacking was a barbeque. We couldn't get the dishwasher to work either, which was a nuisance.

Dear Sharon. Thank you so much for your positive feedback! It's great for us to know that so much went well for you. We agree that it would be nice to have a BBQ, but as the house is built of wood and wooden clad (and now surrounded by very dry countryside) we decided that the fire risk was too great for ourselves when we are at home and for guests too. Instead we throw open the large double bi-fold doors and use the kitchen as if it were outside! Great fun on a sunny day. We are disappointed to learn that you had trouble with the dishwasher. I hope the instructions in the welcome pack were on the table for you when you arrived. I understand that you met our housekeeper as you left the property and told her the machine had worked at the beginning of your stay, but not after. The housekeeper used the machine twice after your departure and could not find a fault. Please do let us know if you reported the issue to Sykes or our very local housekeeper and nothing was done for you. We'd be very disappointed if this was the case! Thank you again. We look forward to your next visit to Romsey Lodge! Best wishes, Bill & Jude Property Owner
