Pye Hall Cottage

Lovely cottage, sensitively restored with many period features preserved.

Spacious and comfortable. I particularly appreciated the feeling of getting back to natural materials - wood, stone and cotton - in this age of plastic and polyester. We managed without a car because I know the area well and we’re happy to walk about a mile to basic shops / train station. Local bus service (51) is unfrequent but cheap and reliable. Area is unique for having natural landscapes to explore in every direction.

We had a very nice time at Pye Hall Cottage.

We visited all the National Trust places that we hadn't been to before. Furness Abbey was an unexpected highlight. Our stay at the cottage was very relaxing - just what we needed.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

We particularly appreciated the thoughtful décor, well-equipped kitchen and excellent information folder, which helped us discover some wonderful local walks. The only small drawback was that consumables such as toilet paper and dishwasher tablets were supplied in very limited quantities, so it's worth bringing or buying extras. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay.

A nice old cottage, good kitchen well equipped, comfortable sitting room, TV adequate with freesat.

Maine double bedroom good, second double against wall & single, didn't use both of these. Car parking good in front of the property with a gate to open & close. Access to the property from narrow lanes, lots of narrow lanes in the area. Overall an enjoyable stay.

This charming cottage, with its nicely maintained garden and pleasant view, had everything we wanted and was just right for us.

Pye's owner is polite, kind and helpful. We had the benefit of feeling very private, but not totally isolated, with the adjoining cottage. Building work currently happening next door did not impact us at all - the builders work 9-4 ish, I think. I suspect they've nearly finished. Silverdale village, about 1/4mile away along a road with passing places is picturesque and very friendly, has all the basics of what you'll need for your stay

This is our third visit to Pye Hall Cottage. Lovely cottage with character, very clean, modern kitchen, comfy beds, lovely views, perfect location for nature lovers/walkers. A very relaxing break. Would definitely visit again.

Dating back to the 1800's it has plenty of character. It has everything you need and the owners are lovely and very helpful. We would definitely stay again

This was our 3rd stay at Pye Hall.

It is lovely cottage in a great situation looking out over the fields to Silverdale village, has great facilities and provided everything that we needed. There are so many walks from the cottage without needing to use the car. Silverdale is a great area to visit, so peaceful and so many beautiful areas, and Pye Hall is a perfect base. Thanks to Joan and Bill, it was good to see you.

The location was very pretty.

Although not convenient for a walk to a pub for a meal. Or a close shop. It is a property that needs a car. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The cottage was lovely and warm. But, it was a great shame that we had to leave after four nights due to the sofas being so uncomfortable. You hit magma when you sat down.! I did bring pillows down which helped a little. We are active 70+ year olds who prefer a little more support but these sofas locked any support. The cottage was sotless. I am sorry to include the negatives but I have been asked by Sykes to review. We are used to leaving holiday cottages tidy but have never before been asked to strip the bed and put in bags for the cleaner. And to use the garden furniture we were asked to erect the table ourselves and get chairs from a shed. I did look in said shed and didn't fancy doing anything with the "furniture". There was however a comfy bench to the front of the property. Other little niggles that we had would probably not bother someone else. So, all in all it was not a cottage that we would go back to.. When we left we found two nights in a hotel to finish our week. We were lucky with the weather, but not so lucky with the choice of cottage.

The cottage is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped.

The parking area is fine for one car but may struggle with two. The only downsides were (a) the wi-fi didn't work in certain areas, the rear bedroom particularly, and that is a miss in a village like Silverdale, where the mobile coverage is so poor, and (b) the tumble dryer didn't work. The location is quite isolated and it's a good 15 minute walk to the village centre. Some, however, may consider this a bonus!

This cottage delivered the cosy, relaxing week my wife and I hoped for in this area that we know well and love.

Spotlessly clean, well equipped and full of character, there is nothing we could fault. We strongly recommend Silverdale as a base for wonderful, easy country walking and Pye Hall Cottage is a very pleasant place to come home to.

Cottage is in an excellent location with good public transport facilities close by.

A very comfortable and well-equipped cottage, and a very helpful owner.

It's quite close to Silverdale railway station, and very close to a bus stop, so suitable for public transport users - we don't have a car and could easily get to all the places we wanted to visit, such as Arnside, Warton Crag and Grange-over sands - and there are plenty of delightful walks from the door. The only slight drawback is that the cottage is next to a road, not a very busy one, but with some traffic noise.

Pye hall cottage was clean .

..the bed was really comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped. We had awful weather (shame) so we didn't get out & about, but if you like games there's plenty to choose from.

Pye Hall Cottage was perfect for a few days.

A lovely little cottage. We particularly enjoyed the kitchen, bathroom (run the hot tap slowly if you want a bath as it comes through hotter this way) and main bedroom. Close to the road but not too much of an issue. Owner and housekeeper very friendly and helpful.

It is a tastefully restored cottage giving you all modern requirements but keeping the history of the cottage. It is perfectly place for many walks around the area straight from the door. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay at Pye Hall Cottage for New Year.

The cottage was warm, beds were comfortable and it was really well equipped. Plenty of walks from the cottage, even in the rain we found sheltered walks to do. Hope to return again as plenty more to explore.

We had a lovely stay here, it was our first holiday as a family of four, the location was beautiful, the garden was great for the kids and the walk along the fields to the nearest village was beautiful, it was lovely to meet Joan she has been so helpful from the start, nothing was too much trouble, the only thing I would say is our stay wasn't long enough so much to see and do in surrounding areas thanks again Joan

Great communications with the owner with lots of useful local information. Beautiful views, very close to Eaves Wood national trust and Leighton moss RSPB nature reserve. Great Sunday lunch at Silverdale hotel restaurant, proper home cooked food.

Very comfortable cottage, with an intimate homely feel, and with everything we required.

The cottage is ideally placed for walkers and bird watchers with Leighton Moss RSPB down the road. As is Silverdale rail station for trips further afield. Lovely views from all directions. We had a great holiday in this AONB as the book says ‘don’t rush by on the M6!’

This was a return visit to Pye Hall Cottage after last year's holiday.

We had another brilliant week in this lovely accommodation. It is well equipped & has everything we need, & is an ideal base with so many walks from the doorstep. We love this area as it's so peaceful & not crowded. The weather was very good to us again. Thanks Joan

Our group was made up of our mum who's 90 my sister who's 70 and me at 63 We enjoyed our stay at pye Hall cottage it was very clean and comfortable We enjoyed days out to Carnforth Lancaster Cartmel arnside and kirby lonsdale We walked, shopped and just relaxed, eating good home cooked food it was a grand holiday for us.

Lovely cottage, full of everything one needs to enjoy one self in a great area.

This cottage was stunning and better than the photos showed.

The surroundings of the cottage were amazing. Great views from the private tranquil garden. Perfect for relaxing away from it all. Lots of wildlife. Everything was catered for. We stay in holidays cottages at least 4 times a year and this was first class. Felt very reassured with the Covid precautions in place. Immaculately clean. The owners were most helpful and leant us a book on the Silverdale village history which gave us an excellent background to the history.

Pye Hall cottage was a home away from home.

Beautifully renovated and the owner shared the family history about the cottage which was lovely. It's location is perfect for hiking and exploring the Lakes and surrounding areas. The cottage is perfect for hiking and there are a lot of public footpaths in natural settings.

The cottage was very nice, clean, comfortable and well-equipped.

The history of the cottage made it more homely. Had great weather for the week, which was a bonus. Lovely area, lots of good walks and not too far to go to the Lakes. Definitely have fish and chips from Arnside (book by phone or website as they are extremely busy in holiday season).

It was our first visit to this area & Pye Hall Cottage was a brilliant home & base.

It is a lovely cottage & had everything that we needed for a relaxing week. It’s ideally situated for beautiful walks from the cottage in all directions, & a great outlook to just sit out & admire the view. For this smallish area, there’s so much to see & do.

Cottage was extremely cosy, clean and welcoming.

Tea and Biscuits provided on arrival. Located in a wonderful unspoilt area, we were outdoors every day walking. The perfect relaxing break that we needed.

Easy walking distance to RSPB Leighton Moss and Silverdale Station for trains from Manchester and north along the coast, Arnside and Ulverston by train are great for a day out. Eaves Wood and Gait Barrow walks start just across the road.

This charming cottage is set in beautiful countryside and is full of character.

It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owner was friendly and efficient and had obviously gone to great lengths to make the cottage covid secure. We were keen to revisit the local area we know well and walked every day within a 5 mile radius of the cottage. Silverdale, as ever didn't disappoint, nor did the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is in a lovely area and it was cosy and warm. The owner was friendly and helpful. Would have appreciated more 'consumables' e.g. kitchen roll, foil, more than 2 dishwasher tablets etc.Also we couldn't find the 'selection or DVDs'.

Everything appeared to be as what we were to expect.

We all enjoyed it very much.It is a pity that it is quite difficult to organize a taxi to take us to the restaurants rather than somebody driving. Looking forward to our next visit wherever it may be.

Bedrooms really comfortable with plenty of storage

The garden was lovely and big enough to spend lots of time in with a toddler.

This sounds strange but what a good idea to have a mini summary of how to use each appliance handily displayed near the appliance itself. There is lots to do nearby. The weather was brilliant while we were there.

The cottage was extremely cosy and comfortable and ideally situated for exploring the Furness Coast and the Lakes.

The villages of Silverdale & Arnside are close by and ideal for shopping. An enjoyable stay and we will be back.

This cottage had everything we needed for our week.

The views and local walks were lovely with a great variety of landscapes, including woodland and the coastline of Morecombe bay.. Leighton Moss is also within walking distance and well worth a visit for bird watchers and nature lovers. Silverdale provides good facilities for meals out and is a proper village We love both Silverdale and Arnside and very likely to book a return visit.

We had a lovely time.

It was our first holiday as a family of four. The booking process was easy from start to finish and we happened to be there at the same time as the owners. They are lovely people and they were so friendly. Unless I missed it in the manual, we were not told that there was garden furniture in the shed which we didn’t discover until the day before we left. The cottage itself is charming and very well equipped with everything that we needed, and more. The facilities for children ( travel cot, stair gate, plastic crockery and booster seat) are so helpful. We look forward to coming back again.

We had fantastic weather. The only thing that caused any problems was the rather low door on the outside store when I forgot to duck ouch! Did not spoil our fantastic break. Thank you to the owner and housekeeper who do a fantastic job.

We stayed in three holiday cottages last year, all through Sykes Cottages and our first holiday of this year was once again of a very high standard.

The cottage was cosy, warm and in a beautiful location, I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

I was particularly taken by the area/ location , to be able to enjoy so much by walking from the cottage or by a VERY short drive was wonderfully relaxing. The presence of the sun always helps shinning in through the the kitchen window in the morning and later by the most spectacular sunsets. Stunning ! Loved the layout of the garden / cottage facilities etc ..this is ridiculous ..EVERYTHING was just right for us!!
