  • “Great location and a lovely cottage to spend a week away in the lakes.”

    - Mrs Serafimov, August 2021

This property is part of the Heart Of The Lakes collection.
We are a Local Lake District business offering a wide range of Lake District cottages, apartments and houses; some old, some modern and something for every taste, but ALL within the National Park and therefore in the heart of one of Britain's loveliest corners.

About the property

This stone-built, terraced cottage rests in a quiet hidden corner of Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District.

With the comforting living areas and fantastic location, this cottage is ideal for families that want a fun-packed holiday in this popular area.

Enter the oak-style kitchen/diner where you will find all the equipment you could need, with rustic fixtures and fittings adding character to this already charming cottage.

The sitting room features a plush settee and an alluring electric stove to keep you warm, where you can put your feet up and relax while you’re not exploring the Lake District.

Upstairs plays host to the bedrooms, including a master with king-size bed and views towards Claife Heights at the rear of the property, while there is a snug single room to the front.

The bedrooms have been tastefully furnished in a cottage style with carefully chosen colours and fabrics, giving the property that home from home feel.

To the outside of the cottage is a rear garden with table and chairs, a great place to unwind after a long day sight-seeing or walking the fells.

Walkers will be delighted to know that the Dales Way passes close by the cottage, and the summit of Brant Fell is just a short walk up from the cottage with superb lake views to be admired along the way.

Head into Bowness to find an assortment of shops and a supermarket for picking up any essentials, as well as several excellent restaurants and bars to sample.

Find Bowness Pier and you can depart on board a steamer taking passengers up and down Lake Windermere to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside.

Row boats can also be hired if you’d prefer to explore the waters at your own pace.

This part of the Lake District has a very wide appeal – perfect for families, with a host of watersports and mountain biking available, and great for couples wishing to enjoy the romantic beauty of the lakes and mountains.

Swallows Nest is a charming dwelling in a thriving Lake District location.
