Berrymoor Cottage

We loved our week's stay at Berrymore cottage.

It is cosy and immaculately clean. The owners are so helpful and have thought of everything to provide a home from home. Very comfortable bed, quality towels and linen, loads of info about the area, sun loungers, towels for hot tub use. Lots of thoughtful extras -games, dog treats, cleaning essentials, welcome milk and teacakes. Gorgeous peaceful location and lots to see and do nearby. I could happily live herex

What a hidden gem in a beautiful part of the world, just 20 mins drive to cross the border of Scotland and visit Gretna Green, and also Hadrians wall, and so close to Keswick also.

The cottage and its land is stunning, so clean and well maintained, lots of personal touches around the cottage, and fully equipped with everything you need. Relax in the amazing hot tub and lovely garde. What can I say. We loved it here.

A lovely cottage in a special part of the world.

We had a great two day visit to celebrate a significant birthday. The garden area is safe and secure for pets . Also the hot tub was really nice. Thank you.

Cottage in a great location - quiet and peaceful but has easy access to get to Carlisle, North Lakes and Hadrian's Wall. Heating system is very good and the little wood burner is easy to operate. Look forward to returning at a future date.

We had an amazing stay at this cottage!

The place was spotless, cosy, and beautifully maintained. The highlight was definitely the hot tub — perfect for relaxing in the evenings after a long day out. The hosts were welcoming and thoughtful, providing everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The peaceful surroundings made it the ideal getaway. Highly recommend and would love to return!

The owner Simon was there on arrival, very helpful answering our questions and providing information regarding the area for walks.

The cottage was clean but could have been cleaner (living area carpet had dog hairs). Got the vacuum cleaner out and after a quick hoover all was good. Bedroom had a damp smell, resolved this by opening the bedroom and on-suite windows. Had a problem with the hot tub which Simon quickly resolved. Small issues which definitely didn't distract from a lovely weekend. Nice dog walks, small town about 15/20 minutes walk, Sally's cafe was superb with friendly staff. All in all very happy with the short break.

Beautiful gardens, comfortable bed, fantastic showers, lovely decor, lovely private enclosed garden with hot tub, sunbeds and table and chairs.

Everything you could need, even a utility room with washing machine and dryer. We had a lovely couple of nights, thank you.

We had a lovely stay for 4 nights with our 2 dog’s.

Very secure back garden so they could not get onto the road. The cottage was beautiful and the bed was so comfy. Also walk in showers are the way forward for us in our house after using them in the cottage.

We had a fantastic stay. The cottage is clean, very well appointed and very comfortable with all the mod cons but still has that cottagey feel. It is well placed and not too far away from all the lakes and lots of lovely local walks and places to visit. Dorothy and Simon were lovely and helpful. Beautiful, extremely comfortable cottage, well equipped and spotless.

In a good location for exploring Hadrians Wall and the Lake District with lovely walks from the doorstep also. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would certainly recommend to family and friends. Owners who live next door were very friendly and helpful. Would love to return.

The cottage was lovely, clean & comfortable & had everything you would need for your stay.

The only problem we had was trying to work the hob, just used the microwave in the end & some of the jets for the hot tub were not working properly. This did not spoil our stay in any way though & I would definitely recommend this cottage.

Lovely little cottage.

Had a great stay. Great location for Carlisle and surrounding areas for walking and sightseeing.

Stayed for 4 nights in February 2025.

The cottage was very welcoming, warm and clean. The hot cross buns and local jam was a nice touch. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could wish for, the sofa bed was already made up for us which was great. We used the hot tub every day which was lovely and hot. We used the cottage as a base and explored Hadrian’s wall, we also drove into the lakes which was around a 40 min drive to grasmere to walk the fells. Cannot fault the cottage at all and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely relaxing time at Berrymoor, the cottage had everything we needed and it was nice and cosy in the cold weather especially with the log burner and hot tub.

The location was perfect, we had our two dogs with us and we found lots of lovely walks to go on with them.

What a beautiful well maintained cottage, very cosy and super clean! All the facilities in the cottage worked with no issues.Met one of the hosts and was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We will 100% be back, came home feeling nice and relaxed! Thank you so much!

We had a fantastic time at the cottage and it was in an ideal location for what we wanted.

The cottage was well presented and had everything we needed for our stay. However the bed was very hard and most nights I couldn’t sleep. The fridge was very small and the freezer was just a compartment within the fridge, we struggled with space within the kitchen area. Overall the cottage was very clean but there was massive cobwebs in the kitchen and bathroom that I had to clean at the beginning of the holiday as there was dead spiders in them. We felt the hot tub needed replacing as only half the jets worked and was very worn in places. But overall we had a fantastic Christmas break and they had made the cottage look very cosy for us with all the Christmas decorations. The host Dorothy and Simon were lovely and helpful.

Anything and everything you could ever want or need! Only suggestions would be a couple more towels for the hot tub or robes? The small touches - hot cross buns, local jam, small milk - were all very much appreciated and made it feel homely.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at this property.

It was our first time at this lovely cottage, and it certainly won’t be our last. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The facilities were outstanding, offering everything we could possibly need for a relaxing and hassle-free stay. The cottage also served as a perfect base for exploring the stunning Lake District, with easy access to its breathtaking landscapes and attractions. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly and are already looking forward to returning in the future!

Spacious but retained a cosy feel to it. Immaculate, spotlessly clean and superbly maintained. Hot tub was fantastic - much appreciated after a 12 mile mountain climb! Ideally located to explore Northumberland and the Lakes.

The best cottage we have ever stayed in.

Everything perfect and very peaceful the surroundings completed the general ambience. High quality furnishings and fittings and the bonus of two very friendly collies Sam and Ruby completed an excellent visit. Tom,Joan and Fagin the Chihuahua.

Very well-equipped, clean, comfortable and furnished to an exceptionally high standard.

The cottage was designed to a high standard with lots of lovely little touches.

Everything we needed was provided, even left bread and milk for our arrival. The hot tub was lovely, having two bathrooms was a bonus as was the under floor heating. Only disappointment was the weather. We certainly would book again if returning to this area. Thank you

The area is peaceful and quiet ideal to take a break from the city life. Real home to home feeling, the cottage is very clean and comfortable, has all the facilities to your comfort. The underfloor heating is amazing in the bathrooms! Hot tub was amazing! We would love to come back in the future!

We had a lovely relaxing week away at Berrymoor Cottage, which is exactly what we wanted.

The cottage itself felt so comfortable and felt like a real home from home. We couldn't fault anything at all. Dorothy and Simon have really thought of everything, anything we needed was there for us to use. It was a lovely touch when we arrived and we came across the bread, milk and marmalade. Really lovely hosts! As a dog friendly place to stay it really is one of the best we have stayed in. We will definitely be booking again.

A well equipped, spacious and beautifully decorated cottage.

Ideal for a perfect relaxing break or a hub to return to following walking one of the nearby trails, or visiting many of the attractions in the vicinity. We're already considering booking again!

the photos do not do it justice. Lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The property is on lovely grounds, the owners dogs were just a delight and the chickens wandering around was just wonderful. We had the best stay and we will be returning. Fantastic location for exploring the lakes and Hadrians wall.

This cottage is in an idyllic spot is well kitted out lovely hot tub but has some issues it is a pet friendly property and has reed diffusers and plug in air fresheners to mask the smell of dog in the property as an asthmatic with an allergy to air fresheners we had to remove these and the smell was extremely unpleasant.

we were only there for two nights and on complaining to the property owner through Sykes no apology was given or recognition of our complaint. We were told it is a pet friendly accommodation. That is not an acceptable response just because its pet friendly doesn’t mean it should be adult unfriendly. we have visited pet friendly accommodation before and none of them have this Aroma it was extremely unpleasant and we should not have to smell that type of odour replacing carpets with washable hard floors would solve this issue! It is also marketed to be mobility friendly it is not the bathrooms have very slippy tiles and the back garden has steps to exit and enter the property the garden area is also raised with a number of steps therefore I would also check further if you want to book this property if it meets your accessibility needs. Rating it 1 out of 5 due to these issues and lack of customer care response.

It has everything you need. It has been a lovely week (even the rainy days). The cottage was a perfect base to explore the area and it was a pleasure to return to after a day out and about. You are wonderful hosts, your dogs and free range chickens wandering around are lovely, and we will definitely return to the cottage. Absolutely Fantastic Holiday Cottage!

!! WOW what can I say!!! Very well equipped, spotlessly clean and beautiful inside and out. Both the owners Simon and Dorothy have put themselves in their guests shoes! The cottage contains everything you need for a relaxing, hassle free break. I have mobility issues, but for me this cottage was like a home from home but better. From its fantastic en-suite wet room/bathroom, to the very inviting hot tub and spacious bedrooms it was a delight to stay here. We have stayed in many holiday rentals with our fur baby over the years, but this place was by far the best! We are most certainly going to return in the near future. So if you are thinking about booking this beautiful piece of heaven, I say don't hesitate! Thank you for a fantastic stay!!!!

Immaculate cottage, everything you would need.

Very spacious and homely. The hot tub was faulty during our stay which was disappointing as that is one of the main reasons why I booked the cottage. Cottage is a little out the way of main tourist villages, for example Keswick is round 45 drive from cottage. Overall, a lovely stay with plenty of walks nearby.

Cottage immaculately clean and comfortable. Beautiful setting, sat out the front on a lovely sunny evening and the dogs loved the freedom of the secure garden. The property was spacious, quiet and had everything we needed.

We usually bring our dog with us on holiday, and this holiday was no different. In all of the properties we have stayed at in the past, our dog has never seemed to settle. However, this property was much different, she settled extremely well as if the property was a home away from home.

Stayed at Berrymoor for 7 nights with our little dog for our anniversary/ honeymoon and couldn’t have wished for a better stay.

On arrival found the self check in system very efficient as we were emailed details prior to our stay. Once inside the cottage were completely blown away by the size of the rooms, the online photos really don’t do the cottage justice! The owners really have put themselves in their guests shoes when putting this place together, there is everything possible for a comfy hassle free stay. Very spacious toasty warm rooms throughout, luxuriously deep bath in en-suite bathroom, huge super comfy bed with beautifully soft linen, log burning stove for cosy nights in and lovely private secure garden with amazing hot tub an absolute gem!! Dorothy and Simon did introduce themselves and their doggies a couple of days in, this was very unintrusive and they did offer their knowledge on local places to visit and walks etc which was lovely. We did take their advice and walked to the local dog friendly pub The Queens where we had a couple of really nice meals. All in all we think that Berrymoor is the perfect place to stay and chill and recharge your batteries or use as a base to explore. 10 out of 10 from us and we will be re visiting, thank you for a lovely stay x

My dog and i had an amazing stay in berrymore cottage.

I travel alot just me and my dog and it was by far one of my best holidays. Lovely place to stay. Doreen was very friendly . It was my birthday while i was there. Doreen and family all wished me a happy birthday. I went to the local pub which i ended up going there for most of my meals lovely and friendly and excellent food. Only 20min walk away. Then spending the afternoon in the lovely hot tub which is lovely and private . I will definitely be returning .

Excellent stay in the cottage didn't see the owners on arrival or departure but everything was excellent

We had the most lovely time here in the cottage, its even better than the pictures make out.

We brought our rough collie with us who made friends with the dogs on the farm. The hot tub was lovely too. There was a nice little pub that is in walking distance that we wondered to on a nice hot day.

Beautiful Cottage in a lovely area.

The owner very nice and helpful. We booked as part of our 52nd Wedding Celebrations and were delighted with the stay. Hopefully will be back some day.

We stayed during a storm that knocked the power out, we stayed for one night without power and travelled home, cutting our stay short.

We were offered 2 nights free of charge to come back and we returned February 2022. A wonderful cottage with beautiful surrounding walks. We can’t wait to come back!

Lovely property, beautifully furnished with attention to detail.

We had a lovely time. Only issue we had was the main door lock which was very temperamental when locking from the outside but we managed.

Berrymoor Cottage is such a lovely place to stay set in beautiful surroundings the cottage is a real home from home, it was very clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for your stay, everything had been considered from doggy treats to a lovely welcome with eggs from the Berrymoor hens, bread, local jam and milk.

The hot tub was the icing on the cake, we would highly recommend a stay at Berrymoor Cottage.

The absolute perfect few nights away. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and the added bonus of a gorgeous hot tub. Simon and Dorothy are amazing hosts and their dogs are so friendly and laid back, even with our boisterous 2. We can't wait to visit again already. Thank you!!!

This is the best equipped holiday cottage I have ever been in, the owners have really thought everything through from the view of the holiday maker.

Was a very clean property but the hot tub cover was so heavy to lift so had to sit with half a the cover still on as owner was away for 3 days

The eggs from the owners hens, bread and local jam went down a treat too. We went as 2 couples and it’s one king bed and one sofa bed which was fine for us but might not be for older people. Cottage is well placed for local pubs and things to do, the hot tub is amazing and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs. We had an amazing time and we will definitely come back! Thank you.

! Everything we needed and more. Very clean and tidy, hot tub was lovely on a night and surrounding area was nice and peaceful. Hosts were very welcoming when we got there aswell as 2 lovely friendly dog's and after welcoming we was left to enjoy a peaceful cottage. TV in bedroom was nice aswell. This Cottage litrely has everything you need and couldn't ask for anything more,would highly recommend and would love to go back here!!

A lovely little cottage very peaceful and relaxing

Lovely cottage and totally isolated which we loved, plenty of nearby walks and you dont have to go far to enjoy more walks and historical monuments etc.

Met the owner on the first day and their beautiful friendly dogs, other than that they left us to enjoy. Cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. We didnt use the log burner but it was all ready if we wanted too. Figured out the heating, just a quick turn of the knobs gives you an instant 1 hour hit of heat if you need it and it was a little chilly after those walks haha......hot tub was fabulous, very warm and even on those chilly evenings...loved it. We cooked alot at the cottage and the hob took a little getting used too hehehe but that oven is great, i want one of those!!! It was really great, well thought out and accomodating. The only minor issues we thought of was a little more lighting available outside if using the hot tub, once it is dark....it is dark lol and a personal touch for us would have been a TV in the bedroom perhaps, just so we could snuggle and watch TV in there, but that is a personal preference. I would pay Sallys Tea Room a visit, cake a licious!! That is a 20 minute walk away. When we went to Sycamore Gap we went for lunch at the Twice Brewed Inn........FABULOUS food. They allow pooches in too, which i thought was nice.

Location was perfect to get to all the places we wanted to get to for walking,and it was so quiet and peaceful with incredible night skies!

!We have been to lots of holiday cottages over the years some of which haven't been clean,but Berrymore was exceptionally clean and to top it all Simon and Dorothy were lovely!!!10/10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely stunning place!

The cottage was clean tody and beautiful. We felt at home, and the place was modern enough. The garden was nice, big and tidy. Really nice actually. The grounds around the cottage is just stunning and was lovely to wake up and come home to each day! The swing on the tree infont of the fields of horses was just beautiful!! My 5 year old loved it! I would definitely recommend!! The drive into the Lake District was only 40 mins. We done this 6 dAys! Didnt bother us wAs worth it. Especially as all the pubs and food places on the lakes had massive queues to get in, back in Carlisle there were no queues and lovely places to eat! Definitely recommend. One tiny bit of negative feedback for the owners is that the rugs smelt of dog which really i hated, but i suppose it does advertise that its dog friendly.

Lovely accommodation, friendly hosts and great to have an enclosed garden for the dogs.

Hot tub a bonus to relax in after days out exploring the area. Would highly recommend. Claire and Andrew Beaumont.

This was a fantastic cottage next to owners and would definitely go again.

it had everything you needed it was lovely.The problem was the awful weather and I mean awful it did nothing but rain apart from one day

Cottage is attached to owners home, very little control over the heating.

cottage was clean and tidy with a great selection of maps and books to plan any activities in the wider area. kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need. hot tub is private, can get dark as wall light doesn’t come on until you’re a couple of feet away once getting out. would recommend and would book again.

This cottage is amazing it has everything you could ever want and more perfect place to relax and unwind!

Arrived at Berrymoor Cottage & was greeted by Simon the owner, who went through everything we needed to know .

The cottage has been finished to a very high standard which is all you could wish for on a 3 day break, Very comfortable. Great location for walking & sightseeing. The only downside, 3 days is just not long enough. Enjoyed our stay so much we have booked the cottage again for a week this time. Thank you Simon & Dorothy. Gavin & Melanie .

Berrymoor Cottage was a beautiful place to stay.

Very clean and comfortable. Very peaceful place to stay to get away from it all. Loved all the little touches. We appreciated the bread, milk and jam on arrival. We also visited a local pub, (Otters Inn) The people were very welcoming. Warm friendly place and the food was good too.

we arrived on sat 19th oct 2019, this cottage is really lovely, very welcoming and big it has everything you need.

The owners had left Milk and Bread in the kitchen for us which was most welcome. there was throws for the Buster to use too. lots of local leaflets and brochures for you to find thing to do plus places to visit. The cottage was lovely and warm very clean, the Hot Tub was a welcome and very relaxing after walking around the Lakes. Met the owners Dorothy and Simon who are very friendly and know lots of good walks for the dog. The Otters Inn we would recommend lovely food and very reasonably priced and very friendly too. A Lovely Cottage would recommend it and will be defiantly be rebooking in the near future.

Heating system is controlled by the owner through a mobile phone app which controls the cottage temperature via wireless individual thermostats.

The downside was you had no control when it came on in the morning and evening , especially as it was October and colder .Having stayed at many holiday cottages and lodges I have never experienced this before , as it was suppose to be self catering in all aspects .

Made welcome from first minute to last by our hosts, beautiful surroundings mirrored by amazing attention to detail with internal decor.

Stayed for a full week in this breathtaking cottage , Simon and Dorothy couldn’t do enough for you .

The hot tub was fantastic just what we needed walks on a morning and hot tub on the afternoon. Would definitely recommend it !!!
