  • "The property was lovely and clean and provided modern contemporary living in a traditional countryside setting."

The property was ideally located for exploring The Lakes but also provided a quite, rural retreat to come back to at the end of the day.

  • "Amazing cottage, our appreciation to the house keeper, the cottage was so clean, a snagging issue with the shower trap being blocked but that was a maintenance item, it was a case of simple unblocking as we did not want to flood the bathroom floor!"

Would we book again, oh yes, cannot recommend enough - you really have to stay in this cottage to appreciate the location and facilities - absolutely amazing

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for doing the necessary with the shower and your understanding! We hope you come again, maybe in summer to enjoy the views when the sun shines. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time ,a beautiful cottage with beautiful views ."

The weather was mixed but we were quite happy to stay in so many DVD s to choose from . For walkers an ideal place so many walks to go on . The only down side was the narrow lanes to get to the main road if we had been younger we wouldn’t have worried . One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed .

  • "Cragfell cottage is a beautiful cottage in a lovely location."

We had everything we needed for a relaxing break. We enjoyed it so much that I decided to look at booking next year. Unfortunately the price increase is far too much and I am so disappointed this is the case. Otherwise I would definitely book again.

The property

Cragfell Cottage is a great place to relax, it is set within gorgeous countryside with amazing views as far as the eye can see.

If you are celebrating a special occasion or just wanting to spend time with your loved one, Cragfell Cottage is for you.

The location just cannot be beaten and is conveniently situated for the local village store together with three public houses and restaurants at the neighbouring Strawberry Bank, Bowland Bridge and Winster.

These are within a 25 minute walk or a short drive.

It is also close to the bustling village of Bowness.

After parking your car in one of the two parking spaces, step into the large and spacious open plan kitchen/diner with its exposed wooden beams and vaulted ceiling, the kitchen/dining area is fully equipped with everything you need to cook that hearty breakfast or indeed have romantic candlelit dinner. Just off the dining area is a downstairs cloakroom with WC and basin. The sitting room has floor to ceiling windows and French doors, enabling you to admire the views.

Sit and watch the TV or relax and read a book.

Step out from here and sit on the patio and watch the sun set or enjoy that BBQ or chilled drink of an evening. Take the stairs to a mezzanine area, a great chill out area with seating, a good place to sit and plan the day ahead.

The bedroom too had great views and on the same level has a fully tiled shower room with basin and WC. To the rear of the property is a single brick store which is lockable with electric, ideal for safe storage of mountain bikes or canoes.

This area can also be used to dry wet clothing.

About the location

Newby Bridge 4.8; Grange-over-Sands 8.2 miles.

Cartmel Fell is a hamlet and a civil parish in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. The village of Cartmel and Cartmel Priory lie in Lower Allithwaite, to the south: Cartmel Fell church is about seven miles north of Cartmel Priory. Wherever you choose to stay you will discover a selection of attractions to visit nearby. And for the adventurous, the outdoor activity in the Windermere area boasts almost every imaginable opportunity. Bowness-on-Windermere rests on the east shore and the busiest tourist destination in the Lake District. Ambleside, at the northern tip of the lake, is also very popular with visitors. Newby Bridge at the south end of the lake is slightly less well known and therefore a little quieter. It is connected to the lake cruises route via a short journey on the steam railway. Other notable visitor locations around Windermere are the wonderful Coniston, Rydal and Grasmerevillages. Hawkshead, Sawrey and Troutbeck and the Langdales are all close by.
