The cottage is in a lovely location.

It is the best equipped cottage we have stayed in, and very comfortable. We did have difficulty locking the back door but that was the only thing we could fault. We would definitely book it again.

It was spotlessly clean , well equipped and comfortable. The back garden was well maintained and most importantly, secure for our dog. The village and surrounding area were delightful. We would definitely stay in Amber Cottage again if we were holidaying in the area and will recommend it to family and friends.

Very clean and comfortable. The weather was not good during our stay so having a nice cosy cottage to stay in made up for it. We would stay again!

Lovely cottage in excellent location.

Very spacious and ideal for my dog as it has a secure garden. Well equipped with everything we needed the only thing we couldn't find were some ice cube trays lol. A very pleasant place to stay. Home from home double bed super comfy and bedrooms lovely. I will definitely be back.

We have been visiting Amber Cottage for 12 years, which speaks for itself!

It is a cosy, well-equipped home in a lovely village, with a local shop and pub. It is perfectly placed for all the wonders of the Lake District and coastal areas of the South Lakes Peninsula.

Very nice cottage everything you need in a good place for visiting throughly enjoyed.

Lovely house and garden, the village has a great pub and shop all in a few minutes walk, as is the train station.

The house has everything you would need for a home away from home in a stunning location, all you can hear is bird song in the very dog secure sun trap of a garden. Even better it came with a car parking space.

Delightful cottage in a good location for visiting the lakes and the coast.

Very well appointed and homely, with a suntrap garden at the rear which was totally secure and ideal for dogs. Close to amenities, pub and shop just a couple of minutes away and the railway station about 10 minutes stroll. Would definitely stay here again.

Exactly what we needed. Everything you would need for a break away. Communication was good. Great for exploring the local area, walks with the dog. Hope to be back some time.

Hi loved it here very cosy.

Just one thing, patio doors are very hard to open and close and it also needs a step down onto the patio ie too high for old knees.. Overall very good indeed.

We had previously enjoyed a week in this lovely cottage pre COVID so we were looking forward to returning.

This is a lovely modern cottage set in a traditional designed courtyard on the edge of Cark.It is extremely well furnished with everything you could ever need. Bed was super comfy and the whole house is spotless. A pub and shop within walking distance and loads of walks for our dog (and us). The fully enclosed west facing sun trap of a back garden is lovely to enjoy a leisurely drink after a busy day in the lakes. You won't be disappointed.

Our stay in Amber cottage was amazing.

The owners have thought of everything to make it home from home. Lovely and peaceful with enclosed garden for our little dog. Area was ideal to visit surrounding places.ie Windermere Bowness and Grange over Sands. Definitely will be back!.

Lovely cottage but too cluttered.

Beds need attention too soft. Cobwebs in corners at bottom of beds. Shower not adequate, needs a more powerful one. Overall nice stay.

Wonderful stay, extremely comfortable beds, extremely well equipped homely cottage.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location - close to Cartmel village - a favourite of ours for many years.

The overall cleanliness and comfort lets the cottage down so too does the decor. We’ve stayed at the cottage many years ago (at least 10) and other than the sofas - nothing much has changed. The shower needs updating (more power) and the mattress in the main bedroom needs to be firmer - (we both ended up with bad backs in the morning). Sorry to sound so down but some upgrading is definitely required. A hoover would be useful too.

The pretty garden needed weeding, I was quite happy doing this for them while my not too well husband had a few naps

Had everything you needed . Lovely cosy and warm . Handy shop and nearby pubs . Went to Grange on the train and walked to Cartmel from the doorstep .Would go again.

Cottage was lovely as was garden.

Everything was provided. Only improvement I could think of would have been maid and chef!!

We enjoyed our week at Amber Cottage.

The cottage is well equipped. The kitchen in particular has everything you’d need for your stay. The living area is comfortable. If there was more space, a footstool would be great. It’s very handy to have a downstairs toilet. The king size bed was also comfortable. The cottage surroundings are lovely with pretty well kept gardens. The only negative about the property was that it was a bit dusty in places. In particular the sitting room, under the armchairs, tv unit but it didn’t spoil our holiday.

This was one of the most beautiful cottages we have ever stayed in, everything you could ever need was there.

Unfortunately our 15 year old dog could not settle outside her own home so we had to leave after 3 nights but we will definitely be back.

We were very pleased with the cottage, which we found to be well equipped, and also well situated for visiting the local area and further afield.

We noted from the Visitors book that some families had made multiple visits to Amber Cottage, and we could easily understand why they would choose to do that.

A superb cottage in an amazing location, we could not have asked for anything more.

One thing to note, if you are going to eat at the Engine Inn, make sure you book.

Beautifully presented, immaculate and private parking. The village of Cark is not quite as expected , but the surrounding areas and gardens to visit are superb. would highly recommend a true home from home.

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay as we only used 1 car but there is no space for more than 1 vehicle so 2 households ie 4 adults would struggle to find parking.

In addition parking for this cottage is not directly outside so loading/unloading could be an issue.

. Also warm and cosy feel. Would be a great stay in the summer months as the garden is a lovely spot to sit. As we stayed February this was not possible, however we got nice weather and could clearly see the sun on the garden also not overlooked as fields at the back of the property. Cark is a great little village with 2 good pubs. Cartmel not too far away. Also Grange easy to visit. The Commodore hotel serves good food. Damian on the bar there providing excellent customer service as we visited friends for an 80th birthday celebration.

the parking was a nightmare.

The parking space was taken by others.Also there were painting contractors in tne parking area and also they were very disruptive around the cottage .I f we had been informed about their presence we would have chosen a different date.

I liked the cottage but was disappointed that 3 of the lights were missing bulbs, and that there was no hand soap and only one toilet roll for two bathrooms provided.

Only slight issue was that the duvet was too warm given the excessively hot weather!

Amber cottage was really lovely with everything you could need comfortable and homely and obviously well cared for.

Everything about this cottage was perfect for us, spotlessly clean, great facilities and wonderful location to explore the lakes, look forward to a return next year, would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We were very well informed before we started our travel. Not used to some facilities as the heater (we’re Dutch), we contacted the agency twice and were helped very quickly in a very friendly manner.

What had improved was the lovely garden. I loved the very comfortable bed and cotton sheets (it is little things like that which make all the difference) I was in a twin bed because my 12 year old granddaughter wanted to sleep with her friend so that they could share IT gadgets!! The cottage is really a home from home, thank you
