    Even the many pictures don't quite reveal what a phenomenal view this holiday home has. It was also spacious, comfortable and clean. It's well positioned to explore the Langdale Valley and wider Lake District. Recommended!

Langdale Farm Houses consists of a duo of beautiful and rustic farm house conversions resting in the gorgeous village of Langdale in Cumbria. These 400-year-old homes boast a bucolic and serene setting, breathtaking mountain views and a woodburning stove making them ideal bases for families, friends and couples seeking a quiet and relaxing escape. The houses are wonderfully located with lots of well-known walks from the doorstep including the Old Dungeon Ghyll, Langdale Pike, Bow Fell and Scafell Pike. If you don't feel like cooking treat yourselves to some delectable pub grub at Lanty Slee's Langdale @ Stickle Barn or a lighter lunch at Brambles Cafe. Take a trip back in time with a visit to Wordsworth Grasmere where you can enter the famous poet’s actual home Dove Cottage, browse round the museum and take a stroll round the garden-orchard and the surrounding woodlands. For even more fascinating history, check out National Trust sites at Wray Castle and Allan Bank which as well as offering beautiful historical buildings, also have loads of woodlands to explore and are child and dog-friendly, making them the ideal location for a family outing. LANGDALE

Ambleside 5.6 miles; Coniston 7.3 miles; Grasmere 9.7 miles.

Often referred to as Great Langdale, to distinguish it from nearby Little Langdale, Langdale's name comes from the Old Norse for 'long valley'. Langdale is a u-shaped valley formed by glaciers. It encompasses the two villages of Chapel Stile and Elterwater, as well as the hamlet of High Close. Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Rock climbers will also love Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll. There Not surprisingly Langdale is also famous for it’s spectacular views, including Dungeon Ghyll Force Waterfall, Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle. it is an extremely popular holiday destination and loved by hikers, climbers, fell runners and lovers of the outdoors in general.
