  • "First time visiting the Lake District and certainly won't be the last."

Loved this house. It had everything we needed. We were lucky with good weather and sat out the rear patio with a glass (or two) of wine in the sun. This property was perfect for our dog. The rear garden to play, and a stones throw away from a pathway leading to a trail for a walk. Would certainly return to this house and recommend others to book it.

Pleased you enjoyed your first trip to the Lakes. Property Owner

  • "A very pleasant stay."

Even though the weather was really bad. It had everything we needed. One minor bugbear was that the lights in the oven need replacing. It was difficult to see how the food was cooking.

Shame about the weather for you not very seasonal at all. Regarding the oven bulbs, there has been a problem sourcing suitable replacement bulbs but this has now been resolved so all working now. Property Owner

  • "Marsh Garth is a lovely property we had a most enjoyable week with our dog."

The layout of the kitchen is well thought out and being able to take dog straight in to the garden to wash and dry after our walks was ideal. The area is very convenient for great walks both in the country side around the lakes and on the beach. It is also not to far from nice local pubs with good food.

Great to hear your holiday worked out well for you. Property Owner

  • "Lovely and comfortable bungalow in a quiet location."

The bungalow was clean and spacious with all the facilities we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the shower over the bath powerful. We had fantastic weather and loved sitting in the rear garden watching the cows in the next field. The only issue was the 2 narrow steps into the side door which my 88 year old mother struggled with. A handle to help would be useful. Apart from that everything else was perfect and we would highly recommend this bungalow.

We're pleased you enjoyed your stay. The weather was indeed very good for you. We are looking at altering the steps to the door over the coming months so this is in hand. Property Owner

Everything was great apart from parking as it was very tight to take car into drive and the road outside really narrow this is not a complaint just an observation

Thank you for your feedback. We do recommend reversing onto the driveway for easiest accessibility. This is included in our property information and key collection details. Property Owner

  • "Lovely Bungalow The bungalow is in a quiet cul-de-sac which is ideally situated for both the estuary and Lake District National Park."

Lovely garden which our Sprocker Louie enjoyed and there is a lovely buttercup field overlooking the garden which had cows and their calves in which was lovely to look at. The bungalow was clean and very comfortable and the tray of coffee/tea/milk and chocolates was appreciated as were the dog treats left for Louie. The bungalow was well equipped with the exception of a hairdryer. This is the 5th property we have stayed in and this was the only one that did not provide a hairdryer. The only other minor gripe was the 2 very narrow steep steps to enter the property as they were that narrow that you had to put your foot on the side to get up and down them. As with others we wished there was more flexibility with the check-in and check-out times as check-out is 10am yet when we passed the property at 11am no one had arrived so check-out could have easily been 11am which would not have been such a rush for us to get everything done that the owners had asked (stripping the beds and hoovering everywhere). On the whole we had a very enjoyable time.

We're pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback. With regards to check-out, we have found 10am to be a commonly used time with many holiday lets and suits most guests. It can vary when our housekeepers can attend and they need time to prepare the property for the next guests. We are looking at altering the steps to the door over the coming months so this is in hand. Property Owner

  • "Bungalow was to a good standard but the rear patio was appalling and a health and safety issue."

The patio has since been repaired by the owners and should hopefully cause no more problems? We are returning in September.

  • "Sat-Nav thinks the property is on the left."

It's not. It's on the right. Which just goes to show how technology has improved our life. Without it though we may well have missed the turning to what was a quiet little cul de sac. The bungalow has two very narrow steep steps to enter, but once inside the property is in general excellent. Everything we might have wanted was there, along with a much appreciated little tray of goodies to welcome us. The beds were great, very comfortable and snug. We managed to figure out how everything worked, even when the hob and cooker managed to circuit break, we found the trip switch and got it working again. The property was very clean except for a rim around the bath, but we cleaned that off and all was well. The toilet seat was a little fluid, and needed anchoring, but we survived with no issues. We had two dogs with us, a cocker and a springer, and both appreciated the garden which was nice and secure. The property provided lots of poo bags, and dog treats, so they were made extra welcome. They had never seen cows before and having them in a field that looms over the back of the property was an interesting introduction resulting in much barking that eventually stopped by the end of the week. This was a lovely place, very welcoming and we would definitely go back again.

Thank you for your feedback, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your bringing the housekeeping and maintenance points to our attention and these have now been addressed. Property Owner

  • "Excellent bungalow."

Clean and very well equipped. The only down side is the late arrival time @ 4pm and early departure @ 10am. There is actually no time for breakfast when as requested the beds needed to be stripped and hoovering throughout. We had to stop for breakfast on our way home. This would put me off booking this property again.

Thank you for your comments. We're glad you liked the property but sorry to hear you didn't find check in/out times suitable for you. Check out of 10am and check in from 4pm is a common arrangement for many holiday lets and is found to suit most guests. It also allows our housekeepers sufficient time to prepare the property for the next guests and ensure everything is in order. Property Owner

Kirkby-in-Furness is a collection of six hamlets on the Furness peninsula overlooking the Duddon estuary. The village is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. Just five miles away is Broughton-in-Furness which has much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells.
