Our home away from home.

Quiet, rural setting - although you can be woken by dawn chorus. Excellent village shop with loads of speciality items. Very good ‘gastropub’ also. Our only disappointment was that the fish & chip van that used to come into the village on a Wednesday evening no longer does so.

Loved our stay in your peaceful cute cottage.

We have already booked again for next year.

Easy commute to the Lakes.

It was lovely cottage just perfect for our needs the owner was very helpful.

The kitchen is very well equipped and instructions for various appliances were neatly altogether in a file. Plenty of crockery and glasses. Located in a friendly village with a well stocked village shop a few minutes walk up the road and fantastic countryside all around.

This was for a late autumn stay, so I looked for a property that would be cosy for the longer nights.

I also cook quite a bit, to support my specific dietary needs, so wanted a kitchen that would be well equipped. Thank you for a decent veg peeler and a knife sharpener, it is these little details that make all the difference. The bed was super comfortable and I slept so well, helped by the invigorating air and great walks.

Excellent - yet again!

The Orchard is a lovely cottage, beautifully kept and well equipped.

It can sleep 4 but is ideal for 2 as the lounge is fairly small. Great to be able to park off road right outside. Levens is a quiet village with an excellent shop and a lovely pub serving good food. It is an ideal base for exploring the southern area of the lake district. Highly recommended.

This was our second visit to Orchard Cottage.

This traditional cottage is comfortable,clean and cosy and is ideal to visit the surrounding area and is situated in the lovely small village of Levens.

Nice to walk into a clean and tidy house.

Everything worked and beds had spotlessly clean linen.Tea and coffee tray very welcome, not forgetting tha chocolate biscuits after a long journey.

This is a lovely, comfortable little cottage in a quiet village and was a great location from which to explore all that the Lake District has to offer.

The cottage was very clean and well maintained and very well equipped - even including some games which could be used in the evenings or during wet weather. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage and will definitely look to return in the future.

Nice old fashioned cottage in a peaceful village.

Good village shop for essentials. Some nice local walks and not too far to drive for local sightseeing. Cosy and generally well kept. Some attention needed, mainly to the outside windows, garden approach (a bit overgrown) and garden itself to make it a lovely place to sit. The information guide was handy but out of date - the Indian takeaway 'Number 3' prices had gone up at least £2 so I have replaced the outdated menu with a new one, other menus probably need updating too. The fish and chip van/pizza man doesn't always come on the days listed. Neither came during our stay. It would be handy to provide a Facebook link for visitors to check as they seem to update here if they are coming or not.

The second time we have strayed at The Orchard and it was a very well equipped cottage with a lovely garden.

Just one thing the sofa was not very comfortable and I think it needs changing (sorry). Apart from that everything was brilliant and would definitely stay there again.

We had a great week at Orchard Cottage, we even had the hottest week of the year so far!

The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable, extremely well equipped and really well maintained. It must be one of the best cottages we’ve had! The location is ideal for touring the Southern Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales and just a couple of miles away is the beautiful Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle. Would definitely recommend and we intend to return in the near future.

Everything was great except the settee and chairs were a bit too low for our liking.

Also the twin bedroom was very cold despite the radiator, it never seemed to warm up. With my husband's health conditions he feels the cold quite badly. Mr Band was very helpful with fuel for the stove which helped keep the cottage warmer. The cottage is well equipped and became a real home from home. It is well situated for visiting all parts of the southern lakes.

Orchard Cottage is a real home from home treat.

The cottage itself is so comfy and homely and it has everything you could possibly think of. The chocolate biscuits on arrival were very welcoming. The local pub, the Hare and Hound has superb food and is well worth a visit and within walking distance, as is the local village shop. If you need anything else, the main supermarkets are a shot drive away. We had a fantastic holiday and will certainly be returning.

It’s relaxing to know we’re staying in a place with those extra touches which make it a complete home-from-home. It has good access to both the northern and southern Lake District with the added bonus of great walking in the locality. Levens is a delightful village with a well-stocked shop and friendly pub serving tasty meals. During this stay, the owner got in touch to let us know that the neighbour adjacent to The Orchard was having an issue with their water supply (which we hope has been resolved!) and although not affecting us, it was very handy to be made aware of a potential problem. We hope to return!

It’s all the little things that made this cottage the best.

Handwash upstairs and downstairs. Hand towels, T- Towels, kitchen roll, cooking oil all provided. It’s these little things that you often forget when packing your go on holiday. It was lovely to have a wood burner. The village shop was a tardis, and had lots of fresh foods. The owner was a call away if needed. It was a well thought out cottage, clean, cosy.

This is the 4th time we've stayed at The Orchard.

The cottage is always clean and tidy and a joy to spend a nice relaxing week away in. The owners left us some milk in the fridge as well as a pack of chocolate biscuits. There is all you need in the kitchen for cooking and also washing up liquid etc. The bed is very comfy and we always have good nights sleep in such a quiet area of Levens.

The Orchard is a beautiful cottage in the stunning village of Levens.

We could not find one single fault with this cottage. It was cosy comfortable and clean with everything in it that you need. The garden is really lovely to sit in and relax. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely property with comfy beds.

Kitchen small but functional with sufficient pots, pans and utensils. Good location, lovely pub down the road in easy walking distance. Garden is lovely too. Only slight criticism is the sofa and chair which are comfy but very low down so not very suitable with dodgy knees! Would happily return to the cottage.

The cottage we stayed in was lovely, as was the location.

However I found that trying to contact yourselves by phone was impossible, and to guide people to the internet to find anything out with a rather abrupt message is not acceptable

Lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful village.

Really enjoyed our stay and we were sorry to leave. Very friendly owner who gave us a tour of his wonderful garden. We loved the cottage. The only thing that could be improved is the seating in the lounge as it didn’t help my bad back. However I’m aware that due to the size of the lounge choice of new seating would be limited. Otherwise excellent.

The location is superb and the cottage even more so.

An absolute gem of a place!

Lovely views, comfortable and in a perfect location. Village shop 5 minutes walk away that sells local produce (the cakes are amazing!) and a fish & chip van that visits on Wednesday evenings that is delicious! Would be more than happy to stay here again!

Our short stay disappointedly became sorter than expected due to a family emergency but we found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped for a relaxing stay.

It is well positioned for all the lovely places to visit and the welcome tray was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

This was our 3rd time staying at The Orchard.

Enjoyed every minute of our stay, the cottage is perfect for a lovely restful stay in the lakes. It is clean, has lovely bedroom and a well equipped kitchen area. The log burner certainly give good heat which make the lounge area very cozy in the evenings. We will definitely be back.

We have had a lovely relaxing holiday in The Orchard cottage,it had everything that we needed and found it well equipped and comfortable.

The village of Levens is very friendly and helpful with a well stocked village shop.There’s nothing that I would change,perfect for a quiet and peaceful break but in easy distance to travel to larger towns and places of interest.

Lovely old cottage which is clean and extremely well equipped.

It’s situated in a pleasant, friendly village with an excellent shop. The secluded garden is not attached to the house but accessible up several stone steps from the side of the house. The hosts were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The only small issue for me was the low seating in the lounge. The village is well situated for exploring the South Lakes with many places to visit and walks within easy reach. We spent a very happy week there and would recommend this cottage.

A very well equipped and cosy cottage.

The village is in a great location for accessing the Lakes and coastline or heading more inland into Yorkshire. The village itself has a great local shop and pub. Very happy with our stay in the cottage which had all the facilities needed and benefitted with off road parking for one car.

Such a lovely cosy cottage, we had a great holiday in The Orchard.

Beds were comfy, Wi-Fi excellent, and everything in place you should ever need. We all slept very well. We would definitely recommend to others and wouldn’t need to think twice about staying again! Perfectly located to visit Windermere and the surrounding area, and close enough to the M6 for us to have a day trip to Scotland and to visit Hadrian’s Wall. Good location for south lakes, grange over sands, arnside etc.

Comfortable accommodation, upgrades since our last visit some years ago have been good. The property could be even more comfortable if the sofa and armchair were replaced, they’re very soft and difficult to get up from. We’ll be back no doubt.

Loved the private garden which we were able to sit in a couple of times when the sun shone. Great to have both dishwasher and washing machine.

It’s a wonderful base for getting out and about in the Lakes. We can’t imagine renting anywhere else now when we holiday in the area.

Excellent cottage in lovely village on the edge of the Southern Lakes and ideal for exploring this part of Northern England.

Our hosts were first class and the facilities were as described. Warm and cosy cottage with excellent wi fi and very comfortable. Village shop and eating facilities five minutes walk away in the friendly village of Levens.

I have stayed in many self catering holiday homes over the years and this one was exceptionally clean and well equipped as well as being ideally placed and in a picturesque location.

The Orchard was a lovely little cottage.

It was cleaned to a high standard and had everything that we needed. We met the owners (who live next door) and they were lovely people. The weather was amazing when we stayed and the garden at The Orchard was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine! The local pub and shop are worth visiting and a visit to the fish and chips van (which comes to the village once a week) provided a delicious tea-time meal!

The cottage was lovely and in a great location.

The owners/manager were responsive and helpful and we had the added bonus of a tour around their beautiful garden next door. We hope to return next summer.

The garden is lovely and it’s an excellent place to stay as a base to see the Lake District. We had plenty of space and the cottage was nice and warm. Would definitely stay/recommend others to stay in Levens.

We had a really enjoyable 4 nights at The Orchard.

Spotlessly clean. Comfy double bed , slept so well. All the utensils you need to cook up a storm , if you so wish! Very peaceful Brilliant shower and plenty of hot water. Word of warning if you like a super hot shower make sure you don't leave the bathroom door open as it will set the smoke alarm off at the top of the stairs

Our week at The Orchard was truly amazing!

The cottage was very very clean and equipped with everything you need( I think it even had more than I do at my home). The fireplace was a big bonus. Beds very comfortable. Spacious and bright. The location is a very quiet peacefull one with easy acces by car to every point in the lakes. Private parking a bonus as well. Thank you for making our holiday unforgetable!

The cottage has so many lovely features, has great equipment too.

Lovely and clean with a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival which was so kind. The village shop is fabulous, great stock. We had fish and chips from the van in the village on Wednesday night which was a treat too.

The cottage is very well equipped and the added bonus of a log burner and garden make it extremely versatile. Even better was having a village shop and amazing playground within walking distance. Our second visit to The Orchard Cottage at Levens so we knew what to expect.

As ever the accommodation was spotless, very clean. The owners ensure that you have a small supply of coffee, tea and a pint of milk in the fridge. There is also a supply of wood for the wood burning fire in the lounge. We will definitely be going back.

THE LOCATION WAS VERY GOOD ALL ROUND PLACES OF INTEREST WAS EASILY TO FIND THE OWNERS MADE US VERY WELCOME THE LOCAL SHOP WAS 10 MIN AWAY AND ALSO THE PUB WAS 10 MIN WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE LOCATION.

Super cottage, great, quiet village location

Cottage was very thoughtfully equipped, better than most cottages.

Also cosier than expected from photos, photos of new lounge sofas would be a good idea. Would have been helpful to know the garden was not fenced off from the road - we booked a cottage with garden specifically because of our very energetic little boy but were unable to use it because of the set up which wasn't clear in the description.

Quaint cottage in a beautiful location on the southern outskirts of the lake district.

A lot of attention went into facilities available, and our only criticism was the poor TV signal. The welcome tray with a chocolate cake, tea bags and milk was very welcome.

We had a great welcome from the owners who showed us around the cottage on arrival and provided us with a welcome tray that included a delicious chocolate cake.

The modern kitchen was well equipt and the bed was really comfortable. It must have the best view out of a wardrobe window ever! We were also lucky to have a guided tour of the owners garden which they open for the national garden scheme. It gave us a great base in a beautiful setting to explore the lakes. We didn't want to come home!

The cottage was everything a Lakeland cottage should be.

Quirky, quaint, peaceful, clean and with a location that couldn't be beaten, if you want a quiet time. The views from the lane and all around are stunning. The owners are very nice and helpful.

Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. A local pub and little store which has pretty much everything you need is close by and very well used. The owners next door are very welcoming and a treat of a cake and welcome tray is an added bonus after a journey. This is our 3rd visit and will no doubt be going back again.

Very good location, kitchen cubboards well stocked and the owner made you fill very welcome nice to be greeted with a welcome tray and a lovely chocolate cake so you could have a drink and relax before having to go to the shops Or unpack.

Because of my arthritis I found the stairs a little steep but couldn't fault it otherwise.

The Orchard and the owners were all lovely.

There was a freshly baked cake awaiting us on arrival as well as a tour and brief but thorough explanation of the cottage and its facilities by the owner, We mentioned in passing that our visit was for our wedding anniversary and the next day a card had been posted for us. Very pleased with our stay and would definitely look at booking again in the future.

My husband and I have absolutely nothing negative to convey relating to this perfect weeks holiday in the Lake District (including fine weather).

The warm welcome at "The Orchard" by Mrs Shirley Band was much appreciated, showing us over the property and answering our many questions. Our first impressions of the accommodation was that it would suit us admirably, and so it proved to be. Quiet, all-round comfort, including lovely beds (good night's sleep assured). Obviously much thought had been given to the accommodation including all necessary appliances. The location, in order to explore the stunning Lake District area, could not have been better. On most occasions, we drove the short distance to Windermere, where we parked for free all day in a convenient side street, using our Concessionary Travel Bus Passes to explore its many attractive locations - particularly great for the car driver who would have normally missed so much of the areas outstanding panorama. In closing, mustn't forget to mention the Welcome Tray presented at the time of our arrival, including a large scrumptious chocolate cake, a slice a day for each of us, lasting for quite a while. Overall, a memorable holiday in every respect. Should we ever return to the Lake District, if available, "The Orchard" would be our preferred accommodation. If not, Sykes would be our choice to select a comfortable holiday cottage.

Not informed of "trip point" in sitting/dining area.

Maybe because floor appears flat, covered in same coloured carpet, but in fact there is a step of approx 2 inches. Could be a serious problem for the visually impaired customer. Otherwise a well presented, comfortable, well equipped property

The best prepared holiday let we've been too.

It was the little things such as having plenty of cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, Tupperware, cooking and cleaning equipment which made a big difference. We have small children who rose with the sun, so could have done with blackout blinds/curtains in the bedrooms. The fresh baked cake, tea and milk on arrival were a nice touch and visiting the owners garden was also lovely. The village shop was good, small but had some options for people with dietary needs such as Gluten Free bread or diabetic treats. A decent holiday cottage and location for our first visit to the lake district.
