"We’ve been coming to White Cross for many years."
This lodge had more features than others, such as a wide array of cooking equipment, a dehumidifier and TVs in each bedroom. However, trying to find the lodge was quite difficult, as from the road only the back is visible. In addition, the roads leading up to the lodge are steep, uneven and not well maintained. This made access difficult, and we experienced issues with our car when driving up, resulting in us parking at the main reception for the remainder of the stay, which was not ideal in the rain or with luggage. On our third day, a section of guttering fell from the lodge, leaving debris hanging over the main gate, which affected access. The master bedroom mattress was also uncomfortable, which affected the quality of sleep. Although the lodge is pleasant and clean, these issues impacted the overall experience and would make us reconsider staying again.

"Absolutely gorgeous accommodation tucked away in the trees with plenty of privacy."
Great overall location too. The lodge had everything we needed and more. Our only issue was that it wasn't overly clean. Lots of cobwebs and dust everywhere. There also seems to be an issue with the electrics. E.g. when the kettle goes on, all the lights dim significantly. However highly recommend this lodge, great property.

"The heating and lights kept knocking off and the duvet was too thin for the colder months with the temperamental heating system."
The water pressure was also quite weak. That being said we'd definitely stay there again!!!! They were the only issues we had.
Thanks for your feedback Caitlyn. We have listened to your feedback and addressed nearly everything mentioned, except the water pressure which at the time was a problem across the park, especially on changeover days. Despite the snags mentioned I'm pleased you enjoyed things on the whole and would stay with us again. Best wishes, Gary Property Owner

"Wouldnt stay at any other lodge at White Cross Bay!"
It is so so private, modern and spacious. It has ample room for car parking, it is up a steep hill but thats not the lodges fault and the privacy is unmatched! Easy check in process and will definately be staying again!
Thanks for such a lovely review Sam, we're glad you found your peace in Serenity! Hopefully we'll see you again in the warner months? thanks again. Property Owner

Thanks for your kind review Samantha we're really pleased your mum had a great birthday celebration Property Owner

"First impressions the lodge looked dirty… it doesn’t take much to sweep some leaves up does it."
? Decking extremely slippy I fell twice… there are signs up but does it take much to give it a quick power wash to stop guests injuring themselves. Outside table and chairs filthy (good job we didn’t want our morning brew outside) decking glass filthy also leaves all round doorway and decking. We could not get the lodge warm. Fire on max and heating on all doors shut it just wouldn’t warm up. Black mould around doorways, and toilets. The en-suite shower head all rusty and mouldy. (Water was lovely and warm tho) All round windows dirty and dusty. Behind the tv absolutely disgusting looks like hasn’t been touched for years. Carpet was full of marks and stains. We paid a fortune to stay over Xmas and feel ripped off to be honest, I never leave reviews as I think people moan about anything, but we do have something to moan about this time. We actually left Xmas day as east wind meant it was going to be very cold Xmas day night. So staying 2 nights instead of 3. I do not recommend this lodge and would actually like some money refunded as I think it was a rip off.

The lodge is a lot bigger than it looks in pictures. Will definitely book again

"This was our first time at serenity, feels like home from home."
The lodge was well situated on the site, private and secluded but only minutes from amenities. This will be our Lakes annual getaway.
Thanks Paul for your kind review. We're thrilled you enjoyed it and look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

"This was our first park lodge holiday, in over 15 years of booking with Sykes."
With my elderly mother's mobility becoming more restricted, single storey accommodation with a walk-in shower has become a necessity. Adding in two large dogs doesn't give many options but Serenity, ticked those boxes. I can confirm that the parks earlier water pressure issue has gone, although now replaced by haunted lighting ;) It had all of the fixtures and fittings we have come to expect and was comfortable and spacious enough, for 5 adults and the aforementioned two dogs. Sadly, we seemed to have picked the worst week of the year, for weather, so couldn't take advantage of the lovely outdoor seating on offer. Having walked the whole of the park with the dogs, Serenity has possible the nicest location, amongst the trees, aside from the lake front lodges. Although the listing did indicate it is in a raised area of the park, I didn't think it was too excessive but surprisingly, it did defeat the mobility scooter we had hired for the week. Possibly something to consider if you have similar requirements.

"Serenity is a lovely lodge with all the amenities we needed."
Plenty of seating outside and options for sitting in the shade on the larger decking or the sun on the smaller one to the front. The location was perfect for visiting the towns and doing some hikes.
Thanks for your kind review Shelley, we hope to see you again! Property Owner

"We had 3 nights at serenity, and it was fabulous."
We had everything we needed and more and after reading some reviews about the water pressure we were slightly worried. This was only an issue at peak time when everyone on the campsite was probably using the water and for only 5 minutes. It was never an issue for us. The lodge is in a perfect location, close to local amenities and a spar just a 20minute walk away if the onsite shop doesn't have what you need. The outside of the lodge could do with a big of cleaning and refreshing due to the location under the trees and all the branches and leaves falling, but again, it was nothing that bothered us and this was mentioned it is planned to be done but just need to find some time in between bookings. Gary was very accommodating and checked in with us to make sure everything was OK. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
Thanks for your positive feedback Hayley we really appreciate it. We're working with the park to improve the water pressure reliability (affecting that whole section of the park) and when we get a changeover gap will continue to spruce up our outdoor space. Overall really pleased you had a great stay and thanks again for your kind feedback. Property Owner

"We had a great week at Serenity lodge helped by the great weather."
It was clean with plenty of room inside and outside. Set in the wooded area it was on probably the quietest part of the site, great for listening to birds and watching wildlife. As previously stated, the only minor problem was the ongoing water issue for a few hours of low water pressure on some days, we were told this is being looked into. The outside area could do with some general maintenance. On the whole we enjoyed our stay
Thanks very much for your positive review Carol, glad you had a great week! Gary Property Owner

"The property could be amazing, looking at the pictures on the Sykes website we were really excited about the long weekend stay for a special family get together."
The lodge is in need of an exterior clean up and refresh, peeling paint and cobwebs over doors and windows. Once inside the lodge its large and modern interior was let down by stained carpets and blinds. The biggest let down was not having water for the first few hours of every morning, this has been previously brought up on other reviews, I got told this was due to water works in the area, however you are not warned or given bottled water. Overall an ok stay which could have been much better with a focus to detail and customer experience.
Hi Darren, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. I'm sorry the experience wasn't up to expected levels. Regarding the lodge maintenance, we are currently working around a busy lettings schedule to make those improvements, while also ensuring our standards of cleanliness are at the same level as our other lodges. As new occupiers, we're doing our best to do this quickly without bringing too much disruption to guests and in recognition of this, have made significant reductions in the pricing while those improvements take place. As you can appreciate the water issue is beyond our control and we're not the only lodge affected by some of the changes happening in the park. We relayed your comments to Parkdean and this was their response: "We are aware that the water pressure on park has become an alarmingly prevalent within our accommodations. Just so you are aware, we currently, we are working with an external company to identify and address the source of the low water pressure. At the beginning of the year, Parkdean invested in the site because we were aware of the need to address this issue". I'm glad you can see the potential in our lodge and as picked up in the other reviews it is a fantastic space and place from which to enjoy the Lake District. We'll reach out directly to offer you a discount on a future stay. Property Owner

"Lovely place."
Location great both for Winderemere and in the park it was a peaceful spot. An issue was Low water pressure in the mornings. The Wifi was hit and miss. To be expected as we were in the country not an issue. We did not use the resort facilities other than the onsite shop which was great to have. Lovely to be by the Marina. A lovely short break thank you
Thanks for your kind review Kate. I'm sorry about the issues you faced with the water pressure, we are told these were to do with refilling of hot tubs and the pressures have now been adjusted accordingly. The park is aware of the WIFI in that part of the park and we're working together to find a more reliable solution. Glad you enjoyed the lodge and your break overall and hope to see you again. "The Interior of the lodge was beautiful."
It was spacious, light and beautifully decorated. There were plenty of kitchen utensils and plenty of additional bedding. The lodge was lovely and warm and the ‘log burner’ was a lovely touch. Plenty of board games have been made available for wet / rest days. I thought that due to the trees and position of the lodge it may have been a little dark inside, but it was lovely and light (think the light interior helped) and we saw lots of wildlife- foxes, woodpeckers and owls. Further improvements would be to the exterior of the cabin, including the patio area needing a little touching up / repainting / cleaning due to foliage and weather. If possible, a toilet roll could be made available for when you arrive! However, the overall stay was fantastic. A beautiful lodge (as reflected in the photographs) A fantastic find which I would highly recommend.
Thanks very much for your very positive review. As new occupiers we are still working to ensure all details are managed including checks on toilet rolls and also a starter pack in the kitchen for arriving guests. We also have some planned improvements to the exterior when booking gaps allow. We really appreciate the positive review and hope to see you again in the future. Gary Property Owner

"The overall campus was really nice with good facilities and a great location between Ambleside and Windermere."
The cabin itself was nice but unfortunately wasn't very clean. Dog hairs and stains were found everywhere and when we made people aware of this, we were passed from one department to another and told to contact the owner directly evern though we weren't provided with any contact details. Happy to take your money but not interested in helping once you have a problem. Fantastic location but just very disappointed with the service we received.
Thank you for your feedback We are sorry that you didn't find the cleanliness of the lodge up to your standard. We have investigated this and it looks like you contacted us via a no-reply email address so the email that you sent didn't came through to us. If you contacted us through the phone numbers given in your key collection details, we would have sent somebody out to investigate and rectify the issues to the best of our ability. "Nice and big so ideal for a large family."
Loved that it had a bath as I prefer baths to showers. Brilliant if you have pets that you take as they can’t escape it’s secure. Could do with nicer bedding in the master bedroom but apart from that it’s a nice home away from home. The caravan park needs some attention as you have to pay for swimming the roads are terrible as our car hit loads of pot holes and the trees/bushes all need a good cut
Hi Michelle, thanks for your positive review about the lodge. Regarding the park we do make clear that facilities such as swimming are a separate arrangement with the park, and guests who book through Lake District Lodge Holidays have complimentary access to Choices spa and pool nearby. Regarding the roads leading to the lodge we will pass on your feedback and ask guests to take care until repaired. Thanks again for taking the time to feed back to us. Gary Property Owner

"We had a very enjoyable stay at this lodge, even with 6 adults & 2 dogs we found the accommodation very comfortable & well maintained."
The kitchen was well stocked with utensils & the heating was more than adequate as we stayed when the evenings were close to freezing! The location is excellent & we will certainly be coming back again!
Thanks so much for your kind review Adam! It really means alot to know that we helped to contribute to an enjoyable break for your group. Hopefully we'll see you again soon. Property Owner
