10 Customer Reviews

  • "We were very surprised when we arrived at the property to find it wasn’t on a main busy high street but on a small road by the stream in the village."

It is near the village green and you can easily walk from the house onto marked footpaths. if you have the appropriate fishing licence and membership of the local clubs can access the River Eden near Warcop old bridge for fly fishing most successfully. The house has been refurbished recently to a very high standard and everything in it is maintained to a very high standard. The beds are comfortable as were the pillows. The shower is a lovely big walk in one and the second bathroom has a fabulous space and wonderful bath too. The kitchen has an induction hob, a nice sized freezer and separate friidge too along with a big dishwasher. Being a coffee addict I was pleased there was a small cafetière in the kitchen too.It has plenty of cupboard space and there is more storage in a separate utility. It was immaculately clean and there was all we needed in the house to relax and have a very comfortable holiday. A pint of milk was in the fridge was there for us great for late arrival. The only thing we would suggest is a minor addition of a few more drinking mugs and perhaps a small Pyrex mixing bowl for making scrambled eggs. We went to Penrith to shop as we know it well, easily and quite quickly via the A66, although there is a big Co -Op in Appleby which is closer. The garden is private and small but with two separate seating areas and the flowers and plants add to the charm of the garden and the house. We discovered there is access across the back terrace of the house via a side gate in the dividing fence for the neighbours but this was clearly just when they cut their grass and were taking it out to be recycled. It did not cause an issue but was a bit of a surprise when it happened and does not put us off from returning again. We will certainly will be returning again we hope to stay in the house in the same pretty area again and recommend this property to others. Wishing Oliver and Ann Marie every success with it in the future.

Thankyou for your lovely comments, we are thrilled you enjoyed your stay. For reference, 1 Brookside is located in the small quiet village of Warcop, overlooking the brook. We will consider your recommendations for the extra kitchen inventory. We look forward to welcoming you to stay again and thankyou for your well wishes. Property Owner

  • "Had a fantastic stay at 1 Brookside, it is a beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well equipped in every way(even had a ball, towel and dishes for our dog)."

It's ideally situated for visiting the Lakes and Dale's. There's lots of walks from the doorstep and the back garden was perfect for our dog to run around in. The cottage is an absolute delight to stay in and I would definitely recommend a stay there.

Thankyou for your lovely comments. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at 1 Brookside and that you would reccomend our Cottage to others. The Cottage is nestled in the Eden Valley making it an ideal location to enjoy the Cumbrian landscape, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dale's. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is gorgeous."

Furnished to a high standard and so clean! The bathrooms are fabulous and the kitchen is well equipped. Perhaps the garden fence needs a little more securing if you have a dog, this wasn't a problem for us as our little old dog couldn't get through the fence. No shop in the village so make sure you are well stocked. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would definitely stay again.

  • "We stayed at Brookside from 01 to 08 August."

The property is beautiful, spacious and felt homely. The huge shower downstairs is a dream and the beds were comfy. The neighbours and locals were friendly and the lovely Stamford Arms (dog friendly pub) is a 30 minute walk along a beautiful country back road. There are lots of picturesque little walks around the outskirts of the village and along a stream that was great to tire out our pup. There were a few draw backs that affected our stay; the main issue being that there was no tumble drier or any way of trying laundry aside from a Hobbit sized clothes horse. Given that we were out hiking every day, swimming and doing water sports, plus it rained most days, it made drying our laundry very difficult. Even a clothes line outside would have made a difference on the sunny afternoons we were fortunate enough to enjoy. It was also an issue that the back garden is not secure (there is a low wall our puppy easily scaled) so our puppy managed to get into next doors garden a few times, so we ensured full supervision at all times. Thankfully our teenage pup wasn't entirely rebellious and did return, but I'm sure the neighbours weren't impressed! We would recommend the property and it was a wonderful stay.

Thankyou for your lovely comments on our cottage, the village and surrounding area. Guest satisfaction is a top priority and so we are sorry to hear you had some drawbacks that affected your stay. There is no drier at the cottage and therefore it is not listed in the summary on our listing. We are addressing the issue of increasing drying laundry space and thankyou for your feedback. Regarding your puppy, we do welcome all dogs, however as stated in our listing we do specify for pets to be well behaved and can only allow 1 pet per stay. Overall we are thrilled you had a wonderful stay and that you would recommend our cottage. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely stay in this cottage for my mum’s birthday with partner and the dog."

Was a lovely little village, everyone was very friendly. Great to go for a little walk directly from there. Also went to the old train line down the road and went on a train ride to Eden village. The house had been refurbished to a really nice taste, great kitchen and open space. Nice little touches like dog poo bags etc. Only thing I would say would be helpful to have a hand towel rail by the sink in the bathrooms and a full length mirror somewhere (but that is nothing negative). Really enjoyed our stay and will look to come back. Thanks again.
