  • "We found the property really comfortable and had pretty much everything you could need."

    Lots of really nice touches. Some of the stuff I didn’t like were the soft furnishing's, specifically the scatter cushion's. The homely touches are lovely, but they need to be regularly cleaned, most of them were looking pretty grimy. I would also point out the mattress protectors/ duvets and pillows need to be laundered. Mine were pretty grimy with stains. We found the plumbing in bathroom, specifically the drainage in shower and sink needing inspection. It was VERY slow. The mastic and drainage cap in shower needs replacing. The cap was broken and there was a fair amount of mould which is massively off putting. The floor in bathroom needs looking at also, tiles are cracked and could pose a problem. I also didn’t like the towels, there smelt musty, and to be honest if you’re providing towels they need to processionally laundered. This sounds super negative (just being honest) but we did enjoy our stay. Would I stay again, probably not.

The towels are professionally laundered so I will certainly look into why they didn’t seem fresh, new towels were purchased in April so this really shouldn’t be the case.   • "Absolutely gorgeous property, with beautiful design touches throughout."

    Downstairs is spacious, cosy, and perfect for family get together. Upstairs is cute, all three bedrooms have different feels but all feel homely & relaxed. We all slept very well. The host was quick to respond & helpful. Offering any support required in a friendly welcoming manner. It was excellent value for money, considering the size & nature of the property, and the location just a few minutes drive from major Lake District towns & destinations. We would be more than happy to return.

  • "Beautiful Cottage in an ideal place, close to Grange over Sea and to travel about the Lakes."

    the cottage is amazing, fantastic facilities, beautiful furniture, fixtures and fittings, a real delight to stay in. The owners have gone above and beyond in their attention to detail to make the stay here perfect. we have an amazing stay and would definitely book again and have already recommended to family and friends.

Pear Tree Cottage is a delightful semi-detached cottage nestled on the outskirts of Grange-Over-Sands in Cumbria.

Enjoying close proximity to Holker Hall & Gardens, Cartmel village as well as easy access to the scenic Southern and Western Lake District National Park, Pear Tree Cottage is an idyllic setting for a family and a furry friend for exploring the Lakes.

Be welcomed into the contemporary kitchen/diner, where you can look forward to whipping up delicious meals for your guests on the electric range cooker, before settling down to tuck-in at the marble island or generous dining table as you discuss plans for the days ahead.

Why not, delve into history and embark on a walk up to Hampsfell Hospice, which was constructed in 1846 by the vicar of nearby Cartmel in order to shelter travellers from severe weather conditions, it also offers stunning views from its top!

For those who have brought their clubs, Grange-Over-Sands offers an excellent 18-hole golf course with impressive views.

Nearby, is the small village of Cartmel, well-known for its remarkable 12th-century priory and glorious racecourse which offers racing fixtures from summer to autumn, a relaxed fun-filled family day where you can bring your canine companion and even a barbecue!

Be sure to visit the town of Kendal, where you will find the fascinating medieval ruins of the former Kendal Castle, as well as the Kendal Museum which details the town's rich heritage.

GRANGE-OVER-SANDS

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. There is also the 25 mile Cistercian Way which starts at Grange over Sands. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.
