“The house was stunning, beautifully decorated to a high standard and very comfortable - I would definitely like to return one day.”

The only reason I say it didn't meet expectations is because we had booked for the hot tub, which was not installed as stated in the description and no one told us.

The property

Situated on a residential road just off Windermere's main high street is this gorgeous terraced cottage, an ideal base to explore the exciting Lake District National Park.

Pottergill hosts a welcoming accommodation over four floors renovated to a high standard, ideal for a stylish getaway with a group of friends or a family of six.

Make your way into the entrance and down the stairs to the lower-ground-floor where you'll find an elegant open-plan living space, spend an evening preparing a group meal in the well-equipped kitchen before heading over to the sociable dining seating to spend quality time over your delicious home-cooking and a bottle of wine.

Snuggle up in front of the woodburning stove in the lounge space, resting your legs on one of the plush sofas as you flick through films on Netflix for a quiet film night.

From here, you can access the private patio which takes you over to an outbuilding with a convenient utility room, fitted with a washing machine, tumble dryer and a freezer, whereas the garden itself offers the amenities for a fun-filled evening in the sumptuous hot tub followed by a late-night tipple of wine and cheese on the patio seating.

The ground floor is an ideal base for those with limited mobility, boasting a pretty double bedroom, a luxurious walk-in shower room and a homely snug room with a plush sofa and a Smart TV.

The rest of the bedrooms can be found on the higher floors, choose between a first-floor double offering ample storage and a vanity dressing table, as well as access to a lavish bathroom where you can enjoy a bubbly soak in the roll top bath or get ready in the walk-in shower.

Alternatively, the twin bedroom can be found on the second floor, perfect for children to escape into their own haven, furnished with sloped ceilings, and Velux windows with views out to rural mountains.

A stroll away from the property's doorstep is Windermere town centre where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of shopping facilities, local pubs, romantic restaurants, and tasty takeaways, as well as access to the stunning waters of Lake Windermere, being sure to take a relaxing boat cruise over the famous lake among breath-taking scenery of mountains and hidden bays.

Pop on your wet gear and head over to the captivating Windermere for a day of watersports activities, choosing from sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, and wakeboarding, or you can try your luck at thrilling dry activities such as climbing, archery, rock climbing and gorge scrambling along the rugged mountains and trails.

Family-friendly attractions in the nearby area include the World of Beatrix Potter, the National Trust's Wray Castle, Treetop Lake District adventures, or the Lakes Aquarium.

Explore the charming Bowness Bay where you can hire and drive your very own boat across the beauty of the lakes, visiting the dramatic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall in Ambleside.
