Great property in a lovely quiet area.

Really close to lots of beautiful places to visit. Apart from taking towels, this property had everything we needed and the instructions given beforehand meant we knew everything in advance. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

A perfect cottage, the best we've had.

Love the layout. Love the enclosed garden for the dogs. Love the setting and the surroundings. And to top it off, we had wall-to-wall sunshine all week. The hosts were so hospitable, and the welcome treats were very appreciated. We'll definitely be back again.

We loved the characterful nature and spacious feel of the accommodation which was in a beautiful setting.

The owner left some lovely treats for us to enjoy. We had not realised that we would need to bring bath sheets but a timely phone call ensured we were in a position to bring them with us before setting off for the first week of our holiday elsewhere.

! Spotlessly clean and the photos on the listing don't do it justice - it is an exceptionally cosy and comfortable cottage that was perfect for us and our two dogs (completely enclosed garden). Everything is well thought out with treats upon arrival and the location was great for visiting popular Lake District sites and also the coast. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Friendly owner. Lovely walks around the area. Lots to see and do within a short drive. Recommend Holker Hall, Sizerghs castle, Haverthwaite railway and Lakeside cruise. Great holiday in fantastic surroundings.

Very comfortable, clean, spacious and warm cottage; well equipped kitchen and great enclosed back garden which Vincent, our greyhound, loved!

Owner was very friendly and had left some much appreciated welcome gifts and treats for dogs. Beautifully peaceful location with some lovely strolls around the country lanes, which are narrow in parts but nowhere near as hair-raising as some in Cornwall!! Handily located for visits to Cartmel, Grange-over-Sands and further afield in the Lake District (would also particularly recommend Gummers How at the southern end of Windermere, and Stock Ghyll Force waterfall trail in Ambleside). Very happy to recommend The Byre.

Was a pleasure staying at The Byre, enclosed area for the dog.

We tried to get a taxi to go to Cartmel Races but was not able to get one. Plenty places to visit from the accommodation. Roads a little scary at times especially when the racing is on. Would definitely recommend The Byre for a holiday.

Owner, there if needed, but not excessive. Exactly the right amount of care. Secluded but 100% safe. Small village location, exactly as advertised. Ideal base camp ( extremely comfortable base camp!

Comfortable beds and very spacious throughout. Little extras, like biscuits for the dog, sweets and treats for the humans, very thoughtfully provided. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at The Byre.

The location was nice and quiet and not too far away from the main Lakes by car. The cottage had everything we needed and more. It was warm, cosy and inviting. I had the best night sleep on the comfy bed and loved waking up to the views over the fell. The welcome goodies left in the fridge were a lovely touch too. The enclosed patio garden was a plus for us with 2 dogs. Lovely to be able to let them out the back door knowing they would be safe. Plenty of information guides etc left in the lounge to help us decide where to go, as well as information on local attractions. Such a relaxing break. We will return again!

Everything catered for and also information left by the owner regarding local amenities and activities. Ideal location for trips to Cartmel races,the Lakes and coast. Immaculately clean and tidy,seen as pets are aloud and would definitely recommend.

We have stayed at many holiday cottages over recent years and we feel that The Byre is the best, it is comfortable, clean and a lovely lay out inside.

The area is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed the local village of Cartmel. The owners of the cottage were friendly and helpful. A lovely relaxing, dog walking holiday.

Beautiful property set in the most stunning countryside,couldn't find fault with this property.

It was very clean and we loved every minute of our time there ,would highly recommend this property to family and friends.

Really clean, lovely settings, great for dogs, we have a really small dog and I felt relaxed when she went outside knowing she couldn't get out.

Owners didn't interfere,have been to some cottages and they pop around all the time, I find that uncomfortable, however these just left us to it. Would go again. Thumbs up to them!!

We had a fantastic week in this beautiful cottage.

It was spotlessly clean and very cosy. Lovely shower and comfortable beds. Perfect location for exploring the lakes and lots of useful information about where to go. Cartmel is a lovely village nearby with some nice friendly pubs. The Kings Arms do a wonderful Sunday roast. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

We had a wonderful stay and felt right at home there was plenty of information about what to do around the lakes and the house was perfect

It is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

The back yard is lovely in the sunshine and a great place to sit and eat out. Very safe for our dogs too. Lots of lovely walks down the lanes around the cottage with our dogs and Grange is a lovely town to visit and if you get the tide right you can walk out on the estuary from the prom with your dogs. Can be a bit busy if the races are on, but this is only 4 times a year so easy to avoid. This part of the lake district seems to be an undiscovered gem as really not a wash with people even on a bank holiday.

No contact with owner .

We did not enjoy our holiday. We were told there would be building work and would be noisy . We hoped we would cope.the owner didn't advise on other alternative. So we put up with it. I'm sure the reviews we went off are good. But unfortunatly not for us. And sykes were not helpful. Will not use sykes again.

Lovely spacious, warm cottage in a beautiful, quiet rural location but with easy accessibility to all the Lakes has to offer.

The coastal area of the Southern Lakes is also very close by. Well appointed and equipped with everything we needed including an enclosed garden area which was great for the dogs. Would happily stay here again and recommend to others.

The Byre was absolutely lovely, an excellent conversion providing very comfortable accommodation, very clean, very well equipped with the added benefit of an enclosed secure garden.

And not forgetting the double bed was very comfortable. The welcome treats were very well received, a big thank you.

The single beds were a bit hard and there was the racing on and we couldn’t get into the town when we got there it was blocked off and we had no pass.

it would be good if they could let people know when they book with them that the racing was on. All the roads were blocked not good.

We loved our stay here.

Everything was clean and welcoming. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs. We have already booked to come back!

Really comfortable and enjoyable stay - we really enjoyed the property and would certainly return.

Very clean and tidy, lovely welcome gifts, milk and juice in the fridge, great back garden for our dogs and located very close to Cartmel. The bed was comfy and the bathroom/shower was great. There was also some information on the local area and should we have needed them, the hosts were next door. We spent almost everyday out and about until later in the afternoon and did not use the lounge area but should we have done, it was also very comfortable and cosy.

The Byre is a beautifully converted barn, with high ceilings so it was very light and spacious.

Everything was provided for a home from home stay, with some lovely welcoming touches from Sarah, including an Easter egg for my son. The beds were extremely comfortable. The back yard was secure and private, great for kids or dogs, both of which are welcome! The only thing missing in my opinion is a washing machine, the rest was absolutely perfect, we would definitely return

Lovely accommodation in an ideal place for easy access to lots of tourist attractions.

Fantastic heating and living spaces but could do with better mattresses as didn’t sleep well due to hard mattresses. Also not enough hot water, even with the booster switch, for everyone to have a shower in the morning.

Cottage itself was lovely but whilst the cottage is listed as dog friendly you’re asked not to take your dogs into the living area meaning if you want to watch tv your dog needs to to stay down stairs in the kitchen.

Facilities were pretty good but no washing machine. Cleanliness and location of the cottage were great and the couple that own the cottage were both super friendly.

The location is ideal for visiting surrounding areas which are all a short drive away.

Such a beautiful cottage in a quiet setting close enough by car to the many wonderful sights of the lake district.

As a family of 4 with a 10 and 3 year old there was plenty of room for us all and a good selection of games and dvds on top of what we brought ourselves. We would definitely like to visit again.

This was our second visit to the Byre.

The cottage is really comfortable and in a lovely part of the lakes, we had our teenage daughter and her friend with us and we all had a wonderful time. Motor boat on Coniston, Go ape tree top challenge at Grizedale, cycling in Grizedale, shopping in Kendal, Holker Hall and some lovely meals out. We will definitely be back. The owners were very helpful when we needed some help with our broken bike lock. A great holiday, thank you.

This was our first visit to South Lakeland and it was quiet and uncrowded.

The cottage was the best property that we have rented and we were very happy there .Many thanks to the owner who posted back my slippers which I left under the coffee table. Many National Trust places were within half an hour`s car trip and we enjoyed several lakeside walks.

The Byre is a real treasure hidden in the midst of countryside yet close to major roads making it easy to visit many beautiful sites near by.

Cartmel is a couple of miles away with lots of great places to eat and explore. The property is lovely, and Sarah and Paul were really helpful and thoughtful. This was exactly what we needed and we hope to return again. Thanks for a fabulous fortnight!

Comfortable and clean cottage.

Good base for exploring the southern lakes with some lovely local walks too. Ideal for visiting Cartmel and Grange over Sands We had some rainy days while we were there but the cottage was still lovely to spend time in. The courtyard was ideal for spending peaceful time in - thoroughly recommend The Byre for a relaxing holiday

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and set in the most idyllic and charming part of the lake district and would highly recommend a visit to the village of Cartmel.

There are some fantastic places to eat and very interesting gift shops.

This is a really nice cottage and we hope to go back again.

Beautiful and clean quiet just what we needed disappointed it did not have WiFi other than that beds a bit hard as my husband has had 3 hip replacements everything else was ok

My daughter and I enjoyed our short stay at The Byre, the instructions on how to find the cottage were clear and easy to follow.

The only thing missing that would have made our stay more comfortable would be instructions on how to use the heating and gas fire. We arrived at The Byre after a very wet day out feeling damp and cold, after some time I did manage to get the radiator working in the living room. I never did work out the gas fire! Also information on local amenities/shops etc would have been helpful.

I think you should make it clear that the nearest shop is in Cartmel which is 2 miles away, and the nearest pub is 1.

5 miles away (up a steep hill if people are walking). The cottage itself and the area is beautiful and I couldn't have had a lovelier time I just think making the above clear will help people understand clearly the remoteness of it.

Perfect base to explore south lakes, 5 minutes away from the lovely village of Cartmel and 2 minutes access to the motor way.

Situated in the most peaceful, beautiful spot, couldn't ask for from owners. We're already looking to book again.

Fantastic location - just a five minute drive from Cartmel and some lovely short walks from the cottage itself.

The cottage was very spacious and comfy and had all the facilities we needed. Decent sized enclosed yard to the rear of the cottage, suitable to let your dog have some freedom. Well recommended.

First time I've rented a cottage and was amazed how straight forward everything was the byre was just perfect close to lots of places but so peaceful the photos don't do justice to how lovely the byre is

we went to the byre for our wedding anniversary and so glad we chose this cottage what a beautiful place so homely and cosy and in the perfect location for exploring around the area and more the owners are so lovely and the bottle of bubbly made it extra special for our anniversary and the doggy buscuits for our pooch milky .

The cottage was lovely and clean, much bigger than expected and a lovely unique lay out!

It’s located in a great area for exploring, we only wish we had stayed longer than two nights. The shortbread and Prosecco on arrival was a lovely touch, bed comfy and shower amazing. Unfortunately didn’t meet hosts but overall 5* and would stay again!

The fact that everyone is accommodating to dogs.

It was a very rural location with excellent pubs for food in Cartmel who were again good with dogs too. Excellent area for walking. Warm and cosy accommodation.

it was a nice break and i am planning to book again in the summer of 2019 the hosts were lovely people and the cottage met our our needs lots to do and see and a fantastic base for visiting the lake district i would highly recommend this cottage as a treasure in the lakes.

This cottage is set In a really nice quiet country lane just 4 miles from the lake.

Its very spacious and has everything a family needs. We had a lovely time. If I had any criticism it would be that the bed mattress is very firm. Some prefer this but was a little too firm for us. Apart from that it was a very pleasant experience, its really clean and you couldn't really want for a better place to stay.

Lovely cottage, very spacious and had everything we needed (board games, dvds, books, local maps and local restaurant information etc, tea and coffee and cleaning equipment, even dog treats!

). Patio garden is enclosed which is perfect for our sometimes anxious dog, and no escaping/ jumping over small walls as they are high enough. Location is out the way and quiet, but only a short drive away from local shops, pubs and walks! Would recommend, had a lovely chilled out holiday!

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday due to the location and overall charm and ambience of this beautiful cottage.

The photos on your website really don't do it justice..the only thing we missed was a TV in the bedroom.

The cottage is a secluded getaway, very romantic and so quiet - heaven!

We loved our stay. The walk to Cartmel is long and difficult in the dark so we ended up driving mostly for evening meals. That said, we felt so relaxed and loved our stay so much, nothing could spoil the wonderful memories made.
