  • "The Graythwaite cottages were absolutely gorgeous and in the perfect peaceful setting."

added bonus of the farm shop and swimming pool to enjoy, just disappointed we missed out on the pizzas! We had only one tiny issue with the oven not working - but this was simply that the power had been turned off and the clock needed setting for it to work. Quick text to one of the numbers in the info booklet and we had an answer. WiFi didn’t work and signal is an issue there however we were happy for the tech break. Have recommended here to lots of people and will hopefully be back in the future.

  • "We stayed in the newlands cottage in graythwaite cottages."

It was perfect very nice and cosy inside. With all the amenities you need. Pool is nice but a little on the cold side. There is plenty of places right on the door step to hike and walk with amazing views. Doesn’t take long to get to anywhere you want on Windermere. Overall we was all very happy and would love to return again some day. Thank you.

  • "The location, Cottage, site and surroundings were perfect."

All the Graythwaite Cottages and houses were excellent as we saw quite a few dotted around the area where we were staying., which was about 1 mile away from Lake Windermere (at Graythwaite Hall, our cottage was called Newlands). The interior was tastefully decorated, the furniture & fittings were to a very high standard. A very relaxing and fun-filled 60th birthday trip for me! Recommending to all our family & friends. Thankyou

  • "Cottage was lovely and perfect for a family of four (plus dog :)) all the kitchen amenities you need and plenty of storage in the bedrooms."

The estate is miles from anywhere so be prepared to drive down lots of tiny country roads to get everywhere (but to us this just adds to the charm). WiFi good but no phone signal. Would have liked a list of local pubs, restaurants and takeaways rather than having to drive around to find them as you do need to plan where you’re going before you head out if you want to eat out :) would definitely recommend.

  • "Newlands is an extremely comfortable and peaceful cottage."

the area is all countryside, with lots of walks.we walked our dogs down to the lake and even though we were only there for 2 nights we managed to enjoy every minute. the cottage has a wood burner and proved to be a cosy way to spend a weekend. thank you Graythwaite.

  • "Key safe was great as no wait to get into our cottage."

High chair and travel cot was fantastic for our little family. Washing machine, hoover and dishwasher meant it was home from home and helped me keep tidy especially as we stayed over xmas. Grounds were beautiful and the pool was fantastic. Most of the time we was the only ones in it. Close to hawkshead and nice walks on your doorstep.

  • "+ves Excellent property."

Roomy And well appointed rooms. Good facilities. -ves Kitchen utensils : some were still dirty. And could with sharper cooking knives. Sign posts to cottages could be clearer. An arrow above the word cottages pointing to them would be useful. At moment only the shop and keepers lodge have arrows. Several of the other visiting families made the same mistake we did and went straight ahead!

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you return in the future. Thank you for bringing these issues up. We are improving the signs in the very near future. Thanks again for leaving us a review Property Owner

  • "Newlands is a lovely apartment."

. great lay out & plenty of room for a short break. The facilities are excellent washing machine, dishwasher & access to a tumble dryer exceeded my expectations. Only issues where the crockery/ pans etc where a little grubby in the cupboards & a few chips in the mugs. Overall a superb base for a Lakes holiday.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are aware that due to the cottages being so popular there is wear and tear and we do endeavour to keep on top of as many of these things as we can. It would appear on this occasion some kitchen items were missed but have been replaced now. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Property Owner

  • "We have been to these cottages many times and the standard has always been first class."

However on this visit the outside presentation of the cottages was poor especially the paintwork. The inside of Newlands was in poor condition eg the paintwork was peeling and dirty. The carpets were need of cleaning. There were cup ring marks on the window sills, cob webs in the bedroom and the toilets seats were scratched. There were no complimentary bath products as there has been in the past. It is sad we have to make these remarks but the reason we book with you is because of your previous high standards. We think you should know that our expectations were not met on this occasion and you should know how we feel so you can rectify your standards. Many thanks from Richard Hart and Emma Brigham

We are sorry to hear that our property did not meet your expectations. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We now provide welcome hampers in all our properties containing a range of local produce such as bread and jam. Also at the time of your stay we were having some issues with the cleaning company who we have since parted company with and we’re pleased to say our feedback is now much more positive. We hope that you might consider trying us again in the future as you have obviously enjoyed previous visits to us in the past. Property Owner

  • "Good clean property, great location."

Great for families. Swimming pool was great but there was too much chlorine, which made kids chest very tight & uncomfortable. Was a shame the walks from place were not described well in the leaflet as hard to follow. Wanted to be able to walk 5km from property.

  • "The living room was very dark after daylight."

The double mattress was lumpy & generally uncomfortable, & one of the storage heaters failed to store heat so would only work on the booster. Whilst we reported this latter on Sunday, by the time we left on Friday no-one had been to review or fix it. We arrived with the bulb in the main room lamp not working so we bought a new one & replaced it. The hair-dryer was also missing but you rectified this within 24 hours. The cot provided did not have a bassinet level so we needed to bring our own travel cot. On the positive side, the wi-fi worked well (a good thing as there was no mobile reception), there was never any shortage of hot water, the wood-burning stove was highly effective, the pool was a good size & well maintained & all was very quiet & peaceful.

Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside.
