  • "The only downside was the noise from the road."

Also the lovely rug in the lounge would move about and become a trip hazard especially as my wife is sight impaired.

Hello Peter. Thanks for your feedback. It's a shame about the noise from the road. It's not an especially busy road but it is a national speed limit road and some people do choose to take unnecessary advantage of that. The windows are new and double glazed, which does reduce the noise significantly. If a window or window vent on that side of the building is opened though, that will increase the level of noise entering the property, which is perhaps what happened. We are also aware of the carpet / rug situation, and can advise that next month (November 2024) we are changing the flooring to a wooden floor and that will allow us to better secure the rug to the floor. Many thanks. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week in Corner Cottage, despite the weather."

Our cockapoo Molly loved the enclosed exercise fields, especially all the balls and launchers supplied to play with. It’s lovely to find a place that welcomes and encourages dogs. I do agree with one other reviewer who said the sofa wasn’t very comfortable. Despite being new it was small in depth. This could possibly be solved by putting a long footstool in front of it. However we still highly recommend this property.

  • "Great base loved it only issue sofa and chairs uncomfortable ."

However minor niggle If we were in area again we would stay again Lovely place

Hi Barry. Thanks for your review. Really sorry you found the seating in the living area to be uncomfortable. We're not sure why as they are brand new as of December last year and each has additional cushions for comfort. However, we will bear this in mind and monitor going forward. You're the first to mention uncomfortable seating but if it becomes common feedback we will certainly look to replace it. Thanks again for choosing to stay with us. Harry & Matthew Property Owner

  • "Corner Cottage at Brackenthwaite was probably the best holiday let we have ever booked."

The set up and presentation of the cottage is top drawer. The owners have thought of and included everything, plus. The plus being that instead of feeling like a holiday let, the quality and care with which the place was 'dressed' with high quality ornaments etc made it feel as if we were staying with a house proud person with good taste. The same care extended to the grounds which include, a short walk away a safe mown field for dog exercising even with a box of toys to keep your pooch happy. The location is quiet and in easy reach of Silverdale and Arnside, both worth a visit.

'The best holiday let we have ever booked' is a superb endorsement of our efforts and we are truly very humbled to receive it, thank you. We've worked very hard to get Brackenthwaite Holidays in the shape that it is currently in, and we have more plans ahead to improve further upon it, so please do think about coming to stay with us again in the future. We will once again make you very welcome. Harry & Matthew. Property Owner

Your home away from home

Corner Cottage at Brackenthwaite Farm is a former barn converted in the 1980s into a 2-bedroom property and an adjacent 3-bedroom property now called The Coach House (1135531).

Corner Cottage is a stylish property combined with the rustic charm of exposed beams and limestone features.

The property is located in The Courtyard at Brackenthwaite Farm and benefits from an additional semi-private outdoor space to the side of the property where you can sit out, enjoy a BBQ or even the crackles of flames from a fire pit – all of which are provided for you to use at your pleasure during your stay.

You arrive at Corner Cottage and Brackenthwaite Farm entering The Courtyard.

Your allocated parked is directly adjacent to your holiday property allowing for easy access to and from your vehicle.

You pass through an open porchway with coat hangers and boot tidy plus Laundry Room, which is where you can find the washing machine and other cleaning equipment, should you need it.

The Laundry Room is shared with The Coach House property.

From The Courtyard you will also be able to sit out and watch the resident white doves go about their business and see visiting nesting swallows during April to September working hard to raise their young.

Upon entering your holiday property, you are greeting with a beautiful presentation of the property, exceptionally clean and well maintained.

The property is comfortable and well equipped with everything you need, and the small details make Corner Cottage extremely welcoming.

On the ground floor you have the living space, dining area and kitchen to the rear, and combined it creates a wonderfully inviting and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy.

Upstairs are a king size bedroom with large wall-mounted TV and NETFLIX included, a second twin bedroom that overlooks The Courtyard and stables, and a modern family bathroom with overhead shower.

While The Courtyard can be fully enclosed to provide safety and security for dogs and/or children, to the front of the site just beyond The Courtyard is The Orchard.

This is a 2 ½ acre fully enclosed field that proves extremely popular with children and dogs.

In it you will find a children’s play area climbing frame, swings, and trampoline, a square pitch for playing ball sports, dog exercise area with throwers, balls and other toys provided, a ‘chill out zone’ with tree swing and bench seating, and a grand, in-ground fire pit should you wish to spend an evening with your family or friends around a crackling fire, sharing stories or toasting marshmallows.

It is from The Orchard where you might also like to start a walk that takes you on a 1-mile route around the farm estate.

On this walkabout you will pass some lovely views and sights including an enclosed wildlife area, new wooded areas, an open wildflower meadow, and meet some of the other resident animals onsite including Kunekune pigs, sheep, goats, hens, ducks, and other poultry.

All of these are pets, there for enhancing the visitor experience.

The latter also provide some of the most excellent free-range eggs!

The owners at Brackenthwaite Farm have carefully crafted the ten acre space to provide a variety of points of interest to visiting guests.

An additional space is called The Rose Garden and from here you may like to sit and relax among the abundance of plant colour and scents.

It is also here that you may make use of the hand-made cob pizza oven, which is a great novelty for small families or friends.

With everything there is to experience at Corner Cottage, you may not want to leave.

However, rest assured that there is plenty to see and do within the local area.

Brackenthwaite Farm is located within the heart of The Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape and so makes a perfect destination to get out and explore the breathtaking and varied natural beauty that is available here including spectacular views, an abundance of wildlife, pristine beaches, and enchanting woodlands and wildflower meadows, plus visit some wonderful local shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as other nearby places of interest.

Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1135186 and 113553 to sleep up to 12 guests.
