Everything you could need is provided and of great quality. In excellent condition and cleanliness. Beds very comfortable. Lakeside is 2 minutes walk away and Ambleside a short stroll. We had torrential rain during our Christmas stay so the games room was a treat. The boot driers were such a pleasant surprise!

  • "This is an excellent holiday home, very comfortable, furnished beautifully and really lends itself to multi-generation style holidays."

The dog bed area was very much appreciated too. However the best thing is the location! Just a few minutes walk away from fabulous Windermere views, accessible walks around the lake, boat trips to Bowness, and great fish & chips!! Also walking distance from the lovely Ambleside town centre. Would definitely recommend this property.

Really handy for walks, ferry and local villages - plus it’s a 10 minute walk to a lovely garden centre. It would have been very good to have a 2nd door key though as we didn’t all go out together (we know we could have left in the key box, but didn’t know if the code is regularly changed)

great property, kitchen well equipped, beds comfortable. The boot dryers were very welcome after some very wet walks. bedding, towels, loo roll all provided. 3 easy car parking spaces on the drive. I had not realised the living room was on the first floor, with the kitchen and a bedroom on the ground floor, this was not ideal for me but absolutely fine for a weekend. overall would very much recommend this property and booking through Sykes.

  • "We had a fantastic stay and the house was beautiful!"

It was also such a lovely touch to have the Christmas decorations up when we arrived. The house is in a fabulous location and is a great hub for the family to come together but also not be under each others feet too much aswell! The only minor thing would be the heating, in the evening the heat was almost unbearable and we weren’t sure where to turn it down or off. Would maybe an idea to have this information handy for future guests! All in all we have a wonderful time and would love to come back! Thank you so much!

  • "A wonderful property and well equipped."

We had a few initial issues with the heating (not on on arrival, came on during the night and was unbearable) perhaps some simple instructions would be useful but we called into the office who kindly sorted everything for us. There was quite a lot of dust and cobwebs around the ground floor bedroom and in the corners of kitchen (the wonderful Vax cordless vacuum made short work of these!) No 7 was perfect, otherwise. Just a small suggestion would be for maybe a couple of cleaning items to be available, multi purpose spray or something similar.

A lot of thought has gone into the furnishings which were lovely. The boot driers were a fantastic addition. The garden was great and the top terrace was a lovely place to sit and read a book. Only little niggle was one of the bedrooms wasn’t set up as a twin as described. Otherwise everything was great and I’m sure we’ll return to the property. Thank you.

The house was perfect for all of us, the fixtures and fittings were top class. The games room with the pool table gave all of us a lot of fun in the evenings. The kitchen had everything that we needed away from home , and lots of dishes , pots etc. Location was fab. The house is very close to lake windermere, 2 minute walk, and 15 minute walk into Ambleside. You are a short drive to Windermere the town and Bowness-on-Windermere. Would definitely rent this property again, loved it.

Exceptional decor and very well equipped. Sofas low and uncomfortable….when we removed the back cushions we found lots of dust so cleaning could be more thorough. Unable to use the vacuum as full of debris…..obviously an issue re emptying? Heating far too hot in upstairs master bedroom and heating controls too complicated to rectify this.

Kitchen had everything you would need. Especially liked the picnic bag and flask, very thoughtful. Only criticism is the outside areas. Nothing down stairs for dogs to go out so always have to go through lounge. Gardens themselves in a very poor state. Not inviting at all. Also dog poo from previous guests still there. Mind you difficult to clean up after your dog when garden so overgrown. Would love to go back but would hope garden areas sorted Thank you

The property was in an ideal location. It was clean , had all electrical equipment needed and generally well equipped . Little things such as only 3 wine glasses and not enough serving or oven plates could easily be overcome .The. garden does need maintained and I understand the owners are looking at this. We hadn’t realised the cot would be a travelling cot (which wasn’t available as requested when we got there). We would use the property again thank you .

  • "Great holiday home in a great location."

The heating system could do with instructions on how to operate as it was far too hot through the night. There were only 4 wine glasses for a property that slept 7 so a few more would be handy and I always seem to have to fill the dishwasher up with either rinse aid or salt wherever I stay. I don't mind bringing the wash tabs but I think if it is there to use then it would be nice for it to topped up during the cleaning of the property. Nothing major really, just the odd niggle, as the rest of the property was excellent. We had a fantastic holiday and would stay at No 7 again. The location was great. 2 minutes to the lake and 10 minutes to town. Also well situated for catching the bus or the ferry.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at No7 and have no hesitation in recommending highly."

Particularly liked how practical everything was like the generous entry hall which works really well when you have 5 adults and 2 tiny humans going in and out. The house's underfloor heating was superb, the layout was great and the rooms well proportioned. Then the nice small touches like the Bose portable speaker and the Netflix account access in all rooms. Our kids also liked the pool room and although we have no pets had endless fun in the dog kennels under the stairs which were repurposed into top notch dens ! We also loved the location which was so handy for our lake cruise and exploring in general. All in all a really relaxing home from home where everthing had been well thought out making for an effortless stay. Would happily stay there again.

From it’s prime location and the absolutely beautiful interior to having a pool table in the garage which was a constant source of entertainment - this place was a fab base for a week away. On the practical side of things, the house is equipped with a very warm airing cupboard with plenty of hanging/drying space, loads of storage space for boots/coats as well as two electric boot dryers which were a godsend as we had classic British weather. Also having a washing machine and dryer was great - we were able to get out every day regardless of the weather because of these small amenities. We cannot recommend this house enough and we’re already planning on when we can come back and stay again,

  • "Stunning home in a brilliant location."

We had such a nice time. We struggled to open the key safe on arrival and on departure it just wouldn’t open so I hid the key under the mat and called the central call centre to advise. Felt bad letting the dog in and out of the garden from a carpeted lounge but we kept wiping him as best we could and hopefully managed to pick up any poo in the garden. We couldn’t fathom the heating out so had to call the centre and a guy came out and switched it on for us. Master bed was very comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped. Dishwasher was flashing to replace rinse aid and salt which I doubt any guests would have taken - so the owners need to get that done. Lovely touches with the blankets, cool bag, picnic rug etc. make sure those are listed on the listing as I took all my own

  • "The house, layout, decor and location was excellent and just as described."

We would definitely recommend No7 to our friends. I have a couple of small issues I'd like to make you aware of: - the soap dispensers in the bathroom and ensuite were empty, despite there being soap in a large container in the garage, I ended up refilling them myself. - the washing up liquid supplied in the visitor box was tiny and only enough for 3 washes - the main bedroom and linked en-suite on the 1st was too hot overnight, we ended up moving to the double bedroom on the ground floor. I noticed a number of previous guests had commented on this and it hadn't been addressed. Although there is a heating control this was complicated and the instructions in the visitor pack were hard to follow.

Only slight negatives - dishwasher hadn't been emptied and the pots in the drawer were not too clean with what appeared to be greasy finger marks on the lids and handles. Surprising,as there was justifiably a clear message to be extra vigilant concerning Covid.

  • "This is a beautifully presented house, ideally situated and very comfortable."

It is a semi 'upside down' house with one of the bedrooms downstairs and the sitting room on the first floor to take advantage of the garden. However, I didn't give it full marks for accuracy of listing for two reasons: a) Although it is listed as dog friendly, the only access to the enclosed garden is either through the carpeted lounge or via the outside staircase. We were lucky - we had a dry week - there would have been issues had the week been wet! b) the garden is beautiful but steeply tiered with the sitting area at the top of the slope to take advantage of the views, so it's a bit of a hike from the kitchen (downstairs), up the steps or up the stairs and through the lounge and then up the slope to take advantage of them! If there are young children in the party - we had a five-year-old and a toddler of 20 months - this could be problematic. Having said all that, it is a lovely house, but I think best suited to a group of adults rather than a family with young children and/or dogs!

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
