  • "Terrible property, lack of maintenance, cobwebs everywhere, dirty cutlery and pans with old outdated photographs."

The Studio has dangerous electrics, old appliances. We were told not to put hob and shower on at same time as it would trip electrics. The Studio was freezing cold. Outside there are loose paving stones and decking boards. Decking boards are old and slippery. Many trip hazards and height hazards. Unlit walkway at night, unable to see steps. Very dangerous. Hot Tub does not comply with current regulations. Owner and Sykes Cottages unwilling to help and oblivious of any problems

  • "Amazing place, very cosy and we felt very welcomed."

Hot tub was fantastic and great views. We felt very lucky to have picked this, made the holiday great. Good location, 5min drive into Bowness with free parking, ferries, loads of pubs, restaurants and shops. Does feature a big (but very friendly and behind a fence) dog, steep driveway and stepped access, but perfect if that wouldn’t impact your stay. Thank you for a great holiday - would definitely recommend it!

The pictures don't do it justice! Lovely big cosy bed and we enjoyed the hot tub every night and felt private due to the way the cover sits it blocks the windows. Excellent location not far from most local towns and hikes. Our dog loved the garden and having the conservatory helped the place feel more spacious.

It was small and compact as expected but had everything needed and was ideal for a couple with a dog having an enclosed garden. The hot tub was fantastic with views up the fell. Just a few minutes drive from Bowness and Windermere with easy access to the ferry for exploring the other side of the lake. The owner was lovely and very helpful.

Judy the host was very warm , welcoming and helpful . The studio was exactly as advertised but the pictures can’t do this lovely little haven justice . Myself and my 10 month old doggy can’t describe what a wonderful time we had at lake lodge studio !!!! Very near to the hustle and bustle of bowness, however far enough away to enjoy the tranquility of the fells and and amazing views of the lake xxx The Hot tub is such a luxurious bonus and beautifully placed in the spacious fully enclosed dog proof garden . Only 1 very tiny improvement for me personally would be a small freezer for ice cream etc . But this does not detract from how wonderful this place and the host is xx Thank you to lake lovers and especially to Judy for listing this property for me to share ❤️❤️

Just in need of a little TLC. Paint work, conservatory is lovely but pvc needs a good clean! I wouldn't stay again as a little too far out for us. But if was closer to Windermere 100% yes ! I would suggest a little vacuum or something just for guest to keep carpets clean, especially when having a dog! I cleaned up but felt guilty for dog hairs on rug!

  • "We had a nice stay in difficult circumstances after my mum died a few days prior to our arrival."

We've stayed here a few times now and really enjoy the location and hot tub. What we weren't so happy about was the way in which lakelovers handled the situation. I made a request to amend the dates last minute, not expecting this to be acceptable but felt it was worth asking, explaining I was caring for my mum as she received hospice care at home. The initial copy and paste reply I received to my message was, I feel, insensitive in the circumstances. I explained that Beth would use the property if we could not change dates but I would not be able to. Circumstances changed quickly so, after discussing with my family, we decided to travel a day later. On arrival we were told that the owner had checked with lakelovers and been told we were not coming. This hadn't been checked with me at all and was contrary to my message, so the heating had been turned off and though it was rectified immediately and caused us no further issue I feel a message to check our plans would have been more appropriate. I will avoid using Lakelovers in future.

  • "Small but cosy."

Radiator didn't work in bathroom or large radiator in room Just small 1 worked in kitchen bit disappointed there was no cooker just microwave and fridge didn't have small freezer box as we'd took pizzas to cook and things to freeze but that wasn't a problem we managed and stayed in conservatory were it was nice and warm. But on our 2nd night the electric went off and it was freezing we went to see caretaker she said it would be on about 9 she came back at 9 and said owners said power will on be back on on Tuesday or Wednesday as it was Monday morning with no heating and no way to cook or make a drink we said its OK we'd go home instead she said get intouch you'd get a refund for the 2 nights we weren't staying but when we got in touch was told power had come back on later that day so wasn't allowed a refund

I was disappointed to read this review. Firstly an apology. I was not there to welcome these guests and the bathroom heater had not been turned on. On my return later that evening I remedied this. The radiator in the sitting room is in working order. These guests were here the night of Storm Franklin. We had a power cut at 05.41 am , in common with thousands of other households. I asked Mrs Bywater to advise the guests that the power should be back on by 9.00am as advised by electricity North West. This was then varied to Wednesday. The guests were advised. Just before 10.00am that day the power came back on. It had been off for just short of 5 hours. The guests were still here. Mrs Bywater went to advise them and were told that they were aware but that the lady guest was “ frightened of the wind” and they were returning home. I overheard this conversation. The microwave is a combination oven/ microwave. The instructions are available and it should have been evident that it could be used as both. I feel that this misconstruction should be corrected as it was clearly the choice of the guests to return home , and they were aware of the restoration of the power supply before they left. Along with all of the emails you send prior to holidays it would be helpful for people to understand the situation for eating out in Bowness and Ambleside. It’s practically impossible to go out as we used to and eat casually. Some places insist on bookings some nights but not others and I have never been anywhere else in the world where tables are empty but places won’t let you sit and eat. Us and many others were walking around literally for hours just to find food.

Big enough for 2 adults with 2 dogs. The hot tub was great. Especially after a long walk. The property is at the top of a hill and had parking available for us. We were able to take the dogs to the woods nearby but the walk back up the hill to the studio could be a challenge for some. The studio had everything we needed. The bed was comfy and the conservatory was lovely to sit in at the end of the day. The owner was lovely and ensured we had everything we needed. The dogs enjoyed roaming in the enclosed garden area. Would definitely recommend.

.this was no way acceptable for the accommodation....It really does need a complete re-furbish. It was very shabby(not dirty).Just because it accepts dogs doesn't mean it has to be like this. From the car to the property is only accessible by steps so we, in our 60's,struggled.On the plus side the garden was lovely and the hot tub was too, and the environment was really nice..The lady who owns this property was very friendly.

Thank you for your recent feedback after your stay at Lake Lodge Studio. We have passed your comments onto the owner and she is sad to read the comments. It is correct that there are 4 shallow steps from the parking space to access the Studio. The property has been priced in accordance to the quality, location, size and amenities and feel the price is competitive with other properties similar. We are sorry to find you did not find this that. We can only draw attention to the other 5 online comments which average a score of 88% , including one of 100% from a couple who are holiday home owners themselves. These are borne out by the many positive comments in my guest book. We are otherwise glad you found some aspects enjoyable and we hope we can welcome you back to the Lakes in the future.
