  • "Delightful period cottage in the village of Giggleswick."

Upstairs you will find two bedrooms that are warm, with cozy beds and a bathroom with shower. Downstairs is a well equipped kitchen. The living room is large with a wood burning stove, you are asked to remove your shoes at the door, the floors are however stone meaning your feet freeze, if we had been advised about this we could have brought house shoes or slippers. I don’t believe anyone had been into the cottage in a while, a large pile of mail at the back door, no starter kit for the fire, and no welcome package. Conclusion ; missing a pair of kitchen scissors, a larger saucepan, mirror in the bedroom, Instructions on how to use things, a warmer throw for watching tv, and Rugs for the stone floor. Best thing was sharing the home with the very friendly ghosts. Parking is a problem, but that’s true of the whole village. Would recommend this cottage but minor improvements would be greatly appreciated.

  • "The property was warm on arrival and very clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed for our stay."

The stove was used in the evenings to dry out wet boots and clothing. The bathroom was well finished and decorated. The area was nice and quiet and perfect for checking out the Three Peaks area, with two lovely local pubs. All I would mention is that on road parking was not feasible during the New Year period. I was fortunate to park at the side two days and then reverse round the back near the school gate. A designated parking spot when the cottage is in use round the back would be a big bonus. Maybe out of holiday season this is not such an issue. Also, maybe a 'mind your head' sign by the front door as we both banged out heads. But this is minor, the cottage is beautiful and is well recommended.

  • "Lovely well equipped cottage."

Log burner and location a bonus. Great range of walks. We struggled to get the TV to work - could have done with instructions. Similarly with the heating.

  • "A super cosy cottage with all you need in a perfect location."

If one is over sensitive to gentle church clock chimes at night, just shut the window. We found it charming. Mind, you’ll miss the owls as well. Parking was fine, although the neighbours were (understandably) precious about the space behind the cottage, bagging it as their own. With thought, three cars could easily fit. But I get it. The walk into Settle over the millennium bridge was a joy. I found the small lane by accident, but it saves walking the long way around. The only very minor niggle was the kettle….I failed to get the lid off to refill it! Apologies also for breaking a mug. Thanks for the milk etc upon arrival.

  • "Lovely cottage and location no issues other than we lost TV channels on 1st night no instructions in cottage, we did ring the handyman and emailed housekeeping as stated in folder, neither bothered to reply."

  • "Disappointed to find there was no welcome pack."

Would have appreciated a pint of fresh milk in the fridge upon arrival. Overall satisfied Rose Cottage is an ideal base for a weeks motorcycling tour of the Dales. Have re-booked for June for another motorcycle jaunt.

Hello, I am so sorry to hear that for some reason there was no welcome pack provided. There would usually be a tray with a choice of savoury and sweet biscuits and chocolate options as well as tea and coffee, sugar and milk. I will look into the matter and hope to correct this right away. Thank you for booking Rose Cottage again and I do hope you find this resolved for your next visit. Thank you as well for letting me know. I appreciate it. Property Owner

About the location

GIGGLESWICK

Settle 0.8 mile; Malham 7.3 miles; Skipton 16.2 miles.

This delightful Ribblesdale village lies below a limestone scar (part of the Craven fault) and just across the river from the bustling market town of Settle. It’s an incredibly pretty place with sturdy houses and cottages, many dating back to the 17th century as the ‘date stones’ over their doorways will confirm. Today the village is still centred around the beautiful St Alkelda’s church, which dates back to the 12th century and the well-known landmark of the domed chapel at the famous Giggleswick School, which dominates the village skyline. Giggleswick itself has two pubs, whilst the wide ranging amenities of the nearby market town of Settle are within easy walking distance. Further afield is the town of Ingleton with its splendid waterfall walk and of course (for the serious walker) the Three Peaks are nearby.
