Bleaberry Cottage

Disappointed after a very long journey to arrive and no welcome pack.

Even a pint of milk and some teabags would have been appreciated. Fantastic location and lovely cottage, parking space a bonus, but needs some general maintenance. Summer house rotten. And paint peeling off bathroom wall. Just a few tweaks would really upgrade it.

Nice walks in the surrounding area

This cottage is in a great location with walks from the door to Helvellyn, Fairfield, St Sundays, Dodds etc.

Inside the cottage is perfectly functional (lots hot water, kitchen for self catering, tv etc) but it is looking tired with eg peeling paint in the bathroom, bare patches on the sofa.

It’s a lovely cottage with a lovely garden.

The dishwasher, washing machine etc are great. It just needs cleaning more thoroughly & the shower does not work consistently

Very well stocked cottage all that you need for a week in the lake District.

Garden is lovely to sit in .

Lovely cottage,lovely location,private parking space,secure garden for our dog,highly recommended.

Only downside was a previous occupant had broken the tin opener and not replaced it,not the owners fault I might add!

Fabulous cottage in the centre of Glenridding.

Great to have a private parking space - easy to access and no problem with space. Walks from the cottage of all levels and easy driving to other parts of the Lakes if you need to. The food shops in Glenridding had an amazing selection and the pubs and hotel are great. We had great high level snow walking and sun in the valley to sit out in - a great week.

love this little cottage with its beautiful garden and the beds were lovely and comfortable.

Plenty of cutlery and glasses but really short on plates. The cottage looked lovely and clean but the floors in the living room were wet when we got there from being mopped. not a huge thing at all to us but you can see that this is damaging the floor. Under both sofa's were several dogs chews and lots of dog hairs so they are not push across and swept often and it literally took me 5 minutes to do. I always like to clean property before I leave any where and it would have been so much easier to do if the mop had more to it... it is well past needing to be thrown away. None of this spoilt our stay and we will book again next year.

This cottage is in a fantastic location for exploring the Lake District.

With walks straight from the door. The garden is lovely and secure for a dog. The accommodation was clean and smelt lovely which is great for a dog friendly property. We had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. I think this property was great value for money and we would stay again in the future.Thank you

Spent a week in the cottage with 2 friends and my collie.

The accommodation is very good and central to Glenridding so close to eateries and bars, a traditional pub is some 200 yards up the road on the way to or from Helvellyn. The kitchen is very well equipped and includes dishwasher and washing machine. The two bedrooms are adequate sizes and the beds are very comfortable. Downstairs there are two settees and Tv and access to free to air digital channels. Good WiFi signal. Small garden in the back is secure for a dog with access to the parking space. If you have 2 cars the pay and display car park is literally 50 meters away. Lots of mountain and country walks start and end in the area so a good base for activities and relaxation. Definitely would consider staying here again. Wyn Thomas

The cottage was perfect for our week of walking in the Lakes.

It had everything we needed. Close to bus and boat services for linear walks. Village facilities very close, but not noisy. Parking would be very tight if all 3 cottages were occupied, but over our week there were only ever 2 cars, so not a problem for us.

Excellent location - probably the best thing about the cottage was the Glenridding location, close to the excellent Ullswater Inn, Steamers, local shops and the start of the walk to Helvellyn.

The cottage itself was perfectly adequate, although a little tired/dated in places, such as the lack of smart TV and the leather peeling off the sofas. The kitchen also felt a bit dated. Having said that, my children enjoyed the DVD collection, and, most importantly, the beds were comfortable. It was a little surprising, so long after the COVID pandemic to still be asking guests to strip the beds for the 'safety of guests and cleaners'. It appeared the outside bin had not been emptied for some time, due to the rubbish not being in the correct council bin bags - I tried to raise this with Sykes during our stay but got no response. Overall we had a good holiday in an excellent location.

A nice property with a great location.

Good parking and a secure rear garden. The property is nice and has most things you would need during a stay. The location means things like fast hot water in the bathroom is a no no and the extra touches such as smart tv or sky are not available. The furniture was a bit tired however it still does the job. Is it the nicest cottage I’ve stayed in no but for the price I would definitely stay there again. A solid 3 stars.

Beautiful cottage and beautiful garden.

We have stayed in plenty of cottages in Glenridding and this could now be out favorite. The only down side was the lack of coal and we did expect this to be there as it is in the other cottages. During our stay the main water pipe outside burst and we were without any water for almost 48 hours, we spoke to the management and they were very supportive even though it wasn't their fault and the inconvenience didn't spoil our stay.

This is the 3rd visit to this cottage and have already booked our 4th visit for September .

We love the area and all that it has to offer - cottage is central for all the amenities the area has to offer . The sofas are looking a bit dated there are various rips on both of them and the rug in the lounge is looking like it needs a refresh but overall the cottage suits all our needs

Great location and nice property

My first stay in this cottage but it won't be the last.

Location is fantastic just a short walk from Glenridding Car Park, shops and eateries. I didn't use my car all week as there are plenty of walks from the cottage and it is a short walk to the Ulster Steamers Glenridding Landing Stage. The cottage itself had all that you might require for a very pleasant stay and is looked after well.

Cottage was nicely decorated, clean and tidy but the kitchen was really tired and not of a standard for the price that was paid.

The cottage was lovely in a fantastic location.

It was perfect for walking while being convenient for local shops and places to eat out. The kitchen was well equipped, the Wi-Fi was reliable and the garden nice to sit out in when it wasn't raining. Our only complaint is that there should have been a non-slip bath mat in the bath to make using the shower safe. It would have been nice to have some hand soap and a towel in the kitchen. The stairs are very steep and there is a step between every room which it would be useful to mention in the description.

the only problem we had at the cottage was the steepness of the stairs.

we are both in our 80's and not as mobile as we use to be and found difficulty using them.

Second stay at Bleaberry cottage.

A well presented property and ideal location for a great outdoors holiday. Central to shops, pubs, Ullswater and various walks/hikes. Overall a very highly recommended cottage!

The cottage is beautiful and ideally located for walks around Ullswater.

The view from the garden is wonderful. The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The whole place was very clean and comfortable. The only criticism is the summerhouse could do with a little TLC. We had a wonderful stay and definitely will be back. Thank you

A lovely stay at Bleaberry Cottage, location is key for me a parking space and easy access for fell walks.

The cottage had everything you could need. Plus the weather was gorgeous.

Lovely location for walks from doorstep, quaint cottage equipt for everything you would wish for.

The only negative was the double bed was not so comfortable as it’s a metal base and it felt it had a bar in the middle of the bed!!

Just enjoyed a lovely stay here at this cottage for a week … Lily our Beagle loved it and so did the humans … from the enclosed garden to the well equipped kitchen it was just perfect … before we left we booked for Sept for another week … can’t wait

Loved the garden which was properly enclosed for our small dog. Handy parking spot. All in all comfortable and cosy. Thank you we had a great week.

Great location, very good facilities, enclosed garden (which is great for the dog), off street car parking space, walking distance to the Lake (and the Ullswater Steamer) and you can spend the whole week starting your walking from the property.

We would stay again.

Perfectly located cottage to explore this most dramatic part of the Lake District on foot - plus a lovely garden and summer house to rest/relax in after a long day of hiking.

A slight warning for the old/less able bodied, stairs are very steep. Beautiful garden. Well recommended.

Ideal location and very well maintained property.

Only gripe being the mattress on double bed was way too soft but probably wouldn’t have noticed had we been 30 years younger. All in all would and have recommended to family and friends.

Amazing cottage in a gorgeous location, the back garden was perfect for my dog!

The cottage was very well placed close to amenities including pubs, cafe's and shops.

The interior could do with a bit of a refresh but was clean and comfortable. I would be inclined to get a plumber in to add a pump to improve hot water flow and put some new bulbs in the kitchen which is very dark when trying to cook.

Great property, will be looking at booking again.

One thing to note, the wall behind the shed has collapsed and therefore a dog could get out, it will need either rebuilding or fence extending.

Adequate facilities but a small welcome pack would have been nice IE a few tea bags and a few starter logs etc.

Towels rather old. Wallpaper coming off in main bedroom and the utility room smelt damp. Couldn't get the TV to work in the front bedroom either but apart from that rather cosy

Cottage was lovely.

...... Just a small suggestion...... Walking a dog at this time of year is a mucky business... Outside tap with hosepipe and spray nozel would be helpful... Also useful for cleaning boots. Helps to keep the cottage clean

The cottage is ideally located for exploring the Lakes.

The cottage was warm, cosy and well equipped. The only down side for us was that we found the double bed uncomfortable.

The garden, whilst lovely, was not dog safe for our dog as there was a wall that needed repair and a low gate.

It didn't cause us any great problems and it is the only criticism I have. The cottage was extremely clean, well furnished and nicely decorated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Lovely cottage full of character & fantastic location.

A small issue with garden that behind shed our dog could have easily climbed over the wall & got out. We found a solution though & it didn't alter a very enjoyable stay. Previous comment about the gate has now been fixed with new secure gate which was appreciated.

A lovely cottage in our favourite village, everything required for a family holiday to The Lakes was provided.

Very clean, extra duvets if needed and lots of reading material!! Internally the only downsides for us were the small, metal framed, double bed, just not big enough for a good nights sleep and a little noisy. We also didn’t get very comfy in the two two seaters, footstools would help!! Externally the garden was a huge draw, so pretty but on arrival we noticed it needed a new back gate and did worry that the dog may get out so just went out with her and no issues. She loved it as did we. I’d highly recommend this property and would be happy to return.

House was really nice, pretty much perfect for what we needed.

Very clean, warm and comfortable. Great location. Plenty of information to help us on our holiday. The only point which would be good to address is there were a couple of bits in the garden where I felt it wasn't 100% secure for dogs however potentially the recent weather might be the cause of this. The gate leading to where the cars are parked was broken and not lockable and behind the shed, there was a section of the wall which potentially a dog could jump over. It looks like this was attempted to be fixed but I would suggest needs to be made a bit more secure. Other than that it was a very nice stay. Thank you :)

Absolutely love this place.

This was the 2nd time we had stayed here. Gorgeous cottage with a dog friendly enclosed garden. Stunning walks from the doorstep . Accurate to listing. Warm, bright and airy. Wood burner in the cosy lounge……although we didn’t actually light a fire due to the warmth of the cottage. Kitchen has everything required to cook in house. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely return.

There were no keys waiting for us in keysafe on arrival and the contact number was not answering so not the best start to our relaxing holiday.

After mumerous calls without answer I managed to contact the help centre and a spare key was brought to us so we git out of the rain eventually .The property was clean and had everything we needed.The location was fantastic.

Lovely cottage, well equipped and to a high standard.

The fully enclosed rear garden was perfect for our dog, no chance of escape. We visited in January and it was nice and warm. Good WiFi throughout, and decent broadband speed (40Mb). Good 4G signal on Virgin / Vodaphone / EE, but no signal on Three / ID. Glenridding is a great base to explore the fells, and just the right size for us. It's big enough to have a few shops and pubs but not overdeveloped or too touristy.

Absolutely gorgeous little cottage which suited us perfectly.

Had everything we needed to cook our own meals but a super pub up the road for food . Totally enclosed garden for the escape artist dog. Took firewood and coal but despite the time of year, the cottage was warm enough without lighting a fire. Really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully be back

The stairs is very steep, I think you have explain online.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage and would definitely return.

The only thing which was not perfect was the 'doggy' smell in the lounge which I suspect was from the rug. But all in all a minor issue and addressed with lots of air freshener

Lovely location. Clean tidy and well equipped cottage. Parking a bit tricky!

Had a great week here but was disappointed with the garden building g as it was really dirty.

Full of cobwebs and a rug on the floor that I wouldn’t even let my dog walk on. Really not the standard I expected having used your services in the past. Also need to make dog owners aware that the garden is enclosed but not secure enough for an adventurous dog. Could easily be fixed with some proper fencing.

Lovely cottage with lovely garden great size cottage perfect for us and our 2 teenager children loved it.

The only thing would improve is the kitchen due to the wooden units never felt thoroughly clean.

Good job weather wasnt very good day before we left so we didn't go out early whilst we were getting ready to go out a bag was left outside by the cleaners asking us to leave by 9.

00 if we had been out all day it would have been a shock so late. As our contract was with heart of the lakes they should make guests aware before arriving. I stay in many cottages and this is the first time this has happened even during the current situation.

Very comfortable, well equipped, clean cottage with a secure garden for our dog.

Plenty of walks from the door. Ullswater Lake is 5minutes away and Glenridding is very quaint but gets very busy with walkers especially at the weekend.

Had a great time the cottage was perfect for our needs.

Only improvements could be on two issues; sykes information was that we had to leave the cottage at 10 AM on departure day but the owner informed us, by a note, that we had to vacate by 9AM in order to deep clean. Whilst we understand this need, consistency of approach would be appreciated to reduce the slight tension at the end of the holiday about when we were supposed to vacate the premise. The cottage says that waste for recycling was not collected but had to be taken to recycling centres, a minor inconveniencebut whilst we were there we saw that the local authority did collect recycling and wondered why this wasn't done from the cottage (ie if it was a cost issue). Even so I would have preferred to have recycling collected. As it happened we only made one trip to a recycling centre and on the day of the departure, the cleaner, a very pleasant lady called Beth volunteered to dispose of our recycling.

Everything is there that you need and the garden is lovely to sit in on sunny days. We will definitely return.

Only it would be handy to have outside seats for the garden.

This is a fantastic cottage , in a superb location for al local services and walks from the front door , well appointed and thought out in terms of facilities and layout - and the best woodburner we have ever used

We have a dog and this cottage has no downstairs carpeting which is ideal and the first thing we look for. Bleaberry cottage is well situated for a walk to the pub, a real fire and wifi also, everything we need and cosy for two.
