  • "Staying in Oversands Cottage was an absolutely amazing experience - we have never been in a place with such beautiful views straight out of the window - the full glory of the magnificent Morecambe Bay, the morning sunrises, and the famous tides, and the wildlife watching."

This is location like no other. To add, the cottage itself is beautiful, with lovely comfy touches, full of light, and any amenity required for your comfort. A lovely unique place architecturally, and a perfect base to experience Lake District. Spotlessly clean. We would most definitely love to come back - this stay was such a treat!

  • "Oversands Cottage is so comfortable and well equipped."

It is decorated and accessorized so thoughtfully. It lacks nothing. The views from the picture window over the bay are truly amazing and beautiful. We took so many photos at sunrise and sunset and everything in between. Although there is no on site parking it really wasn’t an issue. We parked in Hampsfell car park ( a very short and easy walk) and paid £5 for the week, which has to be done daily but that is so easy and I enjoyed the short walk. There are lovely walks along the promenade. We will definitely be looking to return next year. We contacted Sykes to add an extra night and they contacted the owner, who quoted a price of £75. That was reasonable and acceptable. Unfortunately Sykes decided they wanted to charge £30 admin fee to simply add 1 night to an existing booking, for which we had already paid a booking fee. That is 40%. Extortionate. So we chose to not book. So a lose lose for all concerned.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. I’m so sorry about that extra fee! I had no idea. I agree it wasn’t reasonable. Property Owner

The cottage is ideal for a couple, with good modern facilities and a clean fresh decor. The only gripe would be the shower door does not close properly allowing water to escape onto the bathroom floor. It needs fixing. The shower head is also loose and liable to droop. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We have replaced the shower hose but the shower door just needs a firm clunk to close fully. We have made a sign. Thanks again Property Owner

Looking out of the window is like viewing a moving painting which is continually being changed by the artist this was our favourite moment. The walk up Hampsfell is to be recommended, the views in all directions are specacular. If you are here for a week it is worth buying the Friday parking pass (currently £35.10) this then allows parking in most other SLDC car parks such as Ambleside, Windermere, Grasmere etc. Dont miss a stroll along the promenade. Beautifully laid out property. We feel lucky to have booked it early and got it at such a good price! A fabulous property and location.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. There is also the 25 mile Cistercian Way which starts at Grange over Sands.
