Coachman's Cottage

We had an enjoyable stay and the property was in a beautiful location close to the pretty village of Cartmel.

The cottage was very comfortable, and well equipped, the owner provided very useful information. The toilet worked okay but could have done with more water pressure.

A lovely, peaceful setting and a very comfortable cottage.

It was very disappointing to discover that it was impossible to fathom the instructions for using the television. How difficult can it be to provide a simple television service? Also, it was not possible to operate the oven of the cooker. No instructions were provided and normal operating procedures did not coax it into life. A great shame that these aspects of the property tarnished an otherwise pleasant visit.

Property set in quiet park-no road noise.

Very peacefull. Walks in all directions- just spot the signposts at the roadside. Everything you need in the cottage. Maps etc.

The cottage was in a wonderful location It was extremely well maintained and clean.

The surrounding area allowed easy access to the Lake district and all the attractions that are on offer. We would not hesitate in returning

Incredibly peaceful spot within walking distance of Cartmel which is delightful.

So tranquil that it was easy to forget how busy the Lake District is at this time of year. The cottage itself was lovelly and well appointed and the setting by the duck pond ideal

The cottage was beautiful and the whole weekend was so relaxing and peaceful that we stayed an extra night.

The cottage had everything that we needed. It was warm and very comfortable. The surrounding grounds are so well looked after too. I fed the robin, but failed to see the kingfisher; a heron paid us a visit, though. The owner was brilliant; I understand why she has such positive reviews. Things to think about if staying (not negatives, just advice): there's a ramp between the bedrooms and kitchen that may be an issue if you have mobility issues; the conservatory in the photo is part of a neighbouring cottage. Would I recommend the cottage and go back? Definitely. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay here at Coachman’s Cottage.

The cottage was fully equipped with all necessities and felt like a home away from home! The site it is located on is so peaceful and we enjoyed evening walks around enjoying the quietness and the wildlife. The owner was very quick at responding for key collection and for a question we had during our stay! Would recommend to anyone looking for a break in this area!

We loved the property.

It was comfy and cosy. The setting by a duck pond is lovely, and must be even nicer in the longer, warmer days when you could sit outside to admire the view. The only issue was with the TV. However it was dealt with by Sean (who drove out on a cold, dark night to our aid). immediately it was reported. Cartmel is full of pubs and eateries of all types, and there is a very useful shop that provides most things including wood and sticks for the wood burning stove.

. We stayed over Christmas and the cottage was cosy / warm and peaceful . . Pefect for couples or family as had 2 bedrooms . . Liked the fact you could drive up and unpack car before parking in own space . . Also liked the seating arrangement in lounge area . . Actually there was nothing we didn't like . . Christmas day we saw the kingfisher outside the window perched over the pond and after 4 days nearly got the Robin eating out of our hands . . So relaxed we could of stayed longer . . Cartmel is a lovely village minutes away to have a drink / meal and Grange had a lovely park and walk along sea front . .

The cottage was freezing on arrival, it took 2 days to warm up.

There is a slope from the kitchen down to the bathroom and bedrooms, a grab rail is necessary for older people. It’s a long way to the allocated parking space and in the dark it feels uncomfortable. A much better torch is needed or should be suggested to bring with you. There isn’t an outside light, a dusk till dawn light is absolutely necessary. Everything is very low, bed, toilet and sofas. Important information if you are taking an elderly person with you. On a positive note, everything was clean, the towels are lovely and soft. Plenty of hot water. The cottage is tastefully decorated and very much in keeping. A great stay.

Very peaceful location close to Cartmel village.

Stunning scenery. Coachman’s Cottage is lovely, Comfortable beds and sofas and everything you need for self catering. We even saw a Kingfisher dive into the pond which made our day. My only niggle there was no Wi-Fi connection in the main bedroom, not a huge issue but could easily be remedied with a booster kit. Highly recommended.

The cottage was cosy and comfortable perfect for our stay and the location was ideal.

Cottage peaceful but didn't realise it was in a complex with chalets.

Parking OK for cars but tricky for larger vehicles. Good quality fixtures & fittings. Lovely beds but main bedroom a bit cramped. Cottage a bit fusty but plenty of heaters around. Are not normally asked to strip beds in Sykes cottages. Very impressed that Sean came round immediately when we were having problems with the TV.

Very clean and comfortable. Owner sent very comprehensive and clear instructions re directions and access. There were lots of leaflets, regarding walks etc., in the cottage.

Perfect cottage in idyllic surroundings.

Very quiet & peaceful in lovely south lakeland. Really wasnt ready or willing to leave! Cartmel area is full of character & amazing views. Quiet open roads (Early March) and charming off the beaten track pubs. Cottage is unique, cosy & comfortable. Facilities at cottage excellent & in fine working order, could not begin to find fault. Owner was attentive & helpful. Thank you.

Location great and walkable into Cartmel in 15 mins. Only addition we’d suggest if it could be accommodated would be the addition of a freezer, or even a fridge with a small freezer section, when staying for a 3 or more days this would be helpful especially if you want ice cream with your sticky toffee

Coachman’s cottage was an absolute delight - it was comfy, extremely warm and cosy (even in the depths of winter!

), well equipped and exactly what we were hoping for. The complex where the cottage is situated is just stunning, with a beautiful pond right outside and enjoying a secluded location, while also within easy walking / driving distance from Cartmel. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely gorgeous stay in the Coachman's Cottage.

The cottage had everything we could possibly need and was warm and cosy, even during the coldest week of 2022! The park it's in is lovely and there is plenty to do locally, especially if you love good food and walking :)

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and clean.

Everything you could need to hand. We particularly enjoyed all the mr men books and games/dvds to keep the children entertained. The location was very quiet and peaceful and a short drive into Cartmel.

Arrived and had an Issue with the key fob, we called the number provided by the owner and someone came within 5 mins to let us into the cottage and provide a key for our use.

Very prompt service. Our only criticism is that you could see straight into the cottage next door and they into our cottage. A privacy panel placed in the corner would stop this.

We had a really enjoyable holiday, Relaxing & Peaceful, cottage was in a great setting & had everything we needed.

A fantastic cottage: really comfortable, spotlessly clean and lots of lovely touches make it a real home away from home.

The directions supplied by the owner were clear and comprehensive and there is plenty of information in the property on the surrounding area. We are looking forward to returning.

Excellent holiday cottage in a delightful and peaceful location, a 10 minute walk from Cartmel.

There was every amenity you could want, the owner supplied lots of information, maps etc. about the local area and beyond. Correspondence with the owner was very good, and we could not recommend Coachman’s Cottage highly enough. Anne & Graham

Only thing we would like is a freezer for ice cubes etc, we stayed here last year too, so knew to take our iqn table top freezer, but it does take up unnecessary room in the car!

Enjoyed the cottage.

It was situated in peaceful beautiful surroundings. The only point I would make was there was no facility to make any ice for our gin and tonics.

We had a lovely stay.

Cottage was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. Comfy beds and scenic countryside surrounding us. Having a warden on the site was also very helpful. Doorway leading to section where bathroom and bedrooms are is low, which may cause headache for taller people. As long as you remember to mind your head, you're fine. Pleasantly beds were long enough even for 6 foot+ Many thanks!

A beautiful little hideaway close to Cartmel, cosy and comfortable we plan to book again

Nice cottage, comfortable beds and living room, well furnished and facilities good.

Parking easy. Good directions, easy and convenient collection of keys. Not a very safe road to walk along into Cartmel in the dark, for a drink or a meal, but it’s easy to park in the racecourse, next to the town centre. One comment for visitors, if you come in the winter as we did, bring your slippers and the floors are tiled or stone in the living room, kitchen and bathroom.

We were very pleased with the cottage and our holiday, it did not disappoint from the good and accurate description to our comfortable stay and not having to go without anything.

The owner clearly has thought this out and made it a real home that is cosy and catered for all. The cottage is in fine decoration and the sofas and beds are extremely comfortable. It is quiet and relaxing and plenty to see and do without having to travel too far. You are situated as an apartment within a bigger overall building and the garden is not exclusive so not exactly private but it has been very well done. We can recommend this cottage and would stay again no question, thank you.

Just a bit further away from the village then we were expecting, particularly when it rained and didn’t realise it was on a park amongst lodges, but just a small irritant,, it was a lovely cottage and really enjoyed it.

We terminated our stay as the cottage was not as expected and have already been in contact with both Sykes and the owner.

Coachman's Cottage was the perfect escape for my friends and I.

It's located in a lovely quiet area, very well equipped with everything we needed for the weekend, including books and board games. We're looking forward to making another visit in summer to enjoy the beautiful garden by the pond.

It's great that the cottage is on a managed site as there was a warden on site who was really helpful when we found the heating was not working properly.

The coachmans cottage and surrounding grounds were immaculate.

The house was very comfortable and clean. Everything was in good working order and great condition. The kitchen area was easy to work in, my one criticism would be that it would benefit from some larger oven dishes as we like to cook at home. I appreciate it is probably perfectly adequate under other circumstances. We would go back as it is located within easy walking distance from Cartmel without having to worry about parking in this busy village.

This cottage and its surroundings exceeded all expectations and it's location is perfect for visiting areas of interest, including Ulverston and Lakeside, with the beautiful village of Cartmel with its quaint gift shops, fab food from lovely pubs and beautiful tea rooms on your doorstep.

The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable with a lake right outside where ducks swim with their young. Loved feeding them and watching them then feed the little ones. Quiet, quaint, relaxing and a sun trap. Had beautiful weather the whole week we were there. Lots of leaflets in the cottage to browse through on where to visit and thank you so much Bridget for the lovely lemon cake, beautiful fresh flowers in a vase on the table (it was my mothers 80th) and basics like tea bags and milk etc to start us off. Plenty of hot water whenever we needed it too. All in all, the holiday was just perfect and I'd absolutely recommend 100%!

Peaceful retreat after a busy week at home

This is a very comfortable cottage full of character in a very attractive and peaceful location with easy access to the main attractions of the Lake District.

We would definitely come back.

The peace and quietness and it is extremely well equipped.

Ran out of logs halfway through the second evening and unable to find anymore so bought some the following day.Would it be reasonable to have a small stock on site somewhere. All in all a great few days relaxation. regards Doug

Spent an enjoyable week staying here and although the weather was quite changeable and the evenings chilly, the cottage was always warm and cosy.

This is such a beautiful cottage ideally situated in a glorious spot I think best on park, mike the warden very helpful ,And every think you could think of in the cottage .

tea ,coffee, milk, sugar, spotless bedding and towels and every leaflet you could think of with information about area to visit .park its self is very picturises and the possible the best park we have ever stayed on I will definitely book this cottage again Bridget should be very proud of what she has done to this cottage. Also a kitchen which has every thing you could wish for washing machine ,dishwasher, I could go on and on well done Bridget.

Excellent relaxing accommodation with all comforts possible.

This is the third time we've booked the Coachmans' Cottage and we will certainly book it again in the future!

It is wonderfully peaceful and secluded and just perfect for us.

The house was excellent but the weather was not kind.

This caused flooding on one of the access roads. We left this information for any following guests.

Great cottage in a beautiful location.

My husband and I were visiting this part of the country for the first time and were not disappointed, stunning countryside and as the weather was kind we were able to do lots of walking. Lots of eating places in the picturesque village of Cartmel which is just over a mile from the cottage. Would definitely recommend the cottage to friends.

Excellent property, lovely location, very helpful owner.

The car parking spaces allocated to the properties are far too small and fortunately the owner, Bridget was able to guide us to an alternative parking area within sensible walking distance to the cottage.

My husband and our adult son and daughter only stayed for 3 days, we wished it was longer!

The Coachmans was absolutely perfect. So homely! The furnishings and fittings are of exceptional quality. The bedrooms spacious and beds so comfy. Everything thought of.throughout the cottage. A perfect setting for exploring, yet off the beaten track. Plenty of safe parking available on site. Cartmel is a short walk away and great for eating out. Plenty of walks from the door, many 4mls circular, we did the walk to Holker Hall and also the fell walk to Grange, which takes you through the golf course. We're looking forward to returning and continuing the local walks! Can't wait to stay again and it'll be for longer next time!

The coach man's cottage is a little jem.
