  • "Great park and lodge which was roomy, high spec, and very clean."

    The only thing that let it down , was that they allow dogs on the park, and we put in our search no dogs allowed, yet it came up and we assumed it would be dog free!!! This is down to Sykes search engine not working correctly. It is not that we dislike dogs, we love them and used to have one, but we did not take it on holiday with us, some people let dogs on beds etc, and have accidents indoors !! which is why we avoid them

  • "We enjoyed a splendid week at The Beeches and were reluctant to leave."

    The accommodation is stylish and comfortable, and equipped with everything we could've needed for our stay. The site is peaceful and historically very interesting. We loved skimming stones on the river and listening to the birds. There are great walks from the door step. Further afield, access to Ulverston, Coniston and Windermere is very easy. The cottage owner Sarah was quick to respond to our one enquiry during our visit. We'd happily recommend The Beeches at Wateredge Mill.

  • "A lovely place to stay, the property, located in beautiful and well kept grounds, is clean and had all we needed."

    A good base to explore the lakes and dales. There is always room for improvement though; one wardrobe shelf did have a bit of debri and a dead wood louse, and the double bed is actually two single matresses pushed together causing the middle to sag. Bathrooms need airing out more frequently. Recommended, I will definitely stay again.

  • "Beautiful lodge in tranquil surroundings."

    We visited in late October, so the grounds were perhaps not at their best, but would love to return in the spring/summer to better appreciate the grounds and wildlife.

  • "We were impressed with how clean the lodge was, it's a small site and is lovely and quiet."

    The lodge was very comfortable and well equipped with some very nice touches from the owners, toiletries from Pure Lakes in the on-suites, Kendal mint cake and Cumbrian fruit cake on the dining table. We will be going back to the Lake District and will be booking this lodge again.

  • "Absolutely perfect place to stay for a holiday in the Lakes."

    Near enough to lots of places to visit but with the added bonus of lots of peace and quiet back at "home". The chalet had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and stylish and well-equipped for a group of foodies who love to cook. Congratulations to the owners on a pulling off a very successful passion project!

  • "We had a lovely holiday at the Beeches."

    The owner was very accommodating in managing to find us 2 high chairs and 2 travel cots. We were sad not to be able to arrive a few days before the designated Friday as we would have been able to extend our stay at the Beeches! Very comfortable and well equipped. It is hard to go anywhere with two toddlers but this accommodation made our first proper holiday easier, thank you very much.

  • "It’s important to note that this is my sixth stay at this site in Haverthwaite since the beginning of the year (2024), therefore I knew what to expect before I arrived."

    But I was staying in a different lodge this time that faced the woods rather than the river Leven. It was lovely to open the curtains on Saturday morning and see that a small area had been given over to re-wilding. A carpet of flowers greeted me blowing gently in the breeze. This is, like all the other lodges on the site, a serene haven and outstanding in every respect. Fixtures and fittings - you will not sleep in a more comfortable bed anywhere, a Smart TV, two delightful en-suite bedrooms and fluffy towels. You know from the moment you arrive you have stepped into a classy get away from it all, home from home, environment. This is as good as it gets and every lodge is outstanding. I’ll be back as soon as possible.

  • "One of our best family UK stays yet!"

    We ended up being moved to Millstream Ridge due to an issue with the Beeches. We we're informed ahead of time and got the key code before we even left our home. Sarah was great at sorting us out. It's the same layout and just a few cabins up so this review will cover the original lodge too. On arrival there were some lovely touches with fresh milk and local produce provided. The cabins are away from the hustle and bustle, and with little traffic made a safe space for us to explore (we have a 4 year old). Also great to retreat back to in the evenings after a full day out. The lodge itself was modern, clean and well layed out, and had a lovely patio overlooking the wildflowers.Out of all the lodge style homes we've stayed in, this was by far the most equipped and homely feel lodge. The washing machine came in handy especially after a trip to Go Ape. Location wise we were 20 mins by car from Windermere, Grizedale and Ulveston and the steam train station was 4 mins in the car. Perfect for a rainy day with little ones. It did get busy so get there a good 20-30 mins before the train departs. We really got to explore all parts of the local area which was fab as there was lots to keep all entertained. We did a quick shop at m&s about 15 mins away, they picked up a few bits from the local towns when we were out and about. Overall we had a fab time and we're looking forward to booking again next year!

Haverthwaite is a small village and civil parish in the Furness region of Cumbria. It is within the Lake District National Park and is located six miles east of Ulverston, near the southern end of Windermere. The village gets part of its name from the Old Norse word thwaite which usually refers to a clearing or settlement in the forest. Close to the village is Newby Bridge which is at the southern tip of Lake Windermere which takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life.
