With access to Muckle Moss National Nature Reserve and Hadrian's Wall right on the doorstep, enjoy a quaint break with your family and friends.

This stone cottage oozes character from the open-plan living room, right up to the second-floor bedroom resting under the eaves.

It offers exposed beams, painted stone walls, and period-style furnishings.

The kitchen is fully fitted with integrated appliances in an unusual style.

There is a Welsh dresser housing the crockery and a multi-fuel stove filling the home with warmth on a chilly winter's night.

Relax and unwind on the plush sofas in the sitting area and take in the pretty surroundings.

The first floor plays host to three double bedrooms, one boasting its very own en-suite shower room, whilst the bathroom comes with a bath and a shower over.

On the top floor, you have another double with Velux windows drawing in the natural light and traditional furniture and beams, adding character to the space.

Outside, you have a seating area and off-road parking for one vehicle.

Haydon Bridge has a railway station, riverside walks, pubs, shops, and a tourist information centre.

You have access to the cities of Carlisle and Newcastle via the A69 from the village, where you can explore a variety of attractions, as well as shops, pubs, restaurants, and a thriving nightlife.

Visit Carlisle Castle, its racecourse and cathedral, along with the Life Science Centre and Discovery Museum at Newcastle.

Cross the Tyne Bridge to Gateshead for more shops, pubs, and the Shipley Art Gallery.

Kielder Forest can also be easily reached by car, home to northern Europe's largest man-made lake.

With so much to see and do in the surrounding area, how can you miss an opportunity to stay at Shaftoe Mews.

HAYDON BRIDGE

Hexham 8 miles; Haltwhistle 8 miles.

The attractive village of Haydon Bridge is situated between the market town of Hexham and Haltwhistle, close to the A69, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, and only a short drive away from the magnificent remains of the Roman Forts on Hadrians Wall, a World Heritage Site. There are some delightful walks in the area, but perhaps the loveliest are at Allen Banks - 194 acres of woodland and riverside paths just 3 miles from Haydon Bridge. The picturesque village of Haydon Bridge dates back to the 14th Century and is situated on both banks of the South Tyne river with an ancient pedestrian bridge over. Amenities in the village include a railway station, a variety of shops, pubs, a local tourist information centre, churches and riverside walks.
