"Anne was very pleasant and helpful."
The property is lovely however there were a couple of downsides. Firstly the property is remote and up a very steep hill and parking a bit awkward. Secondly the property is a bit dark it is however very clean and well equipped.

"The cottage was wonderful - and Anna gave us a good welcome, showed us the garden we could use (which was lovely) and make us generally welcome."
There IS a very narrow road leading to the cottage - but we never had any problems.
The cottage itself has everything you could ask for, and was just a joy to stay in. With so many period pieces and antique furniture it was more like staying in a Landmark Trust property. We really loved it and it will CERTAINLY be on our list of places to re-visit another time.
There IS a slight smell of oil from the oil fired heating but that really is to be expected, and should not be a problem to anyone unless they are really sensative to that smell.
The village is very small however there are two decent shops that are even open on Sundays (for far longer hours than supermarkets are allowed to open), this was very useful for us on a couple of occasions.
Like most places not in a major town, the supplied Wifi isnt really very good at all - so I would strongly recommnend checking your 4g/5g covarage before visiting. We managed fine with that. This is not a critisism, but just an observation of anyone more in the country - you're not likely to get very fast broadband so it's not reasonable to expect it.
Overall, we would definately recommend this cottage to anyone - we had a lovely week.

"We had a lovely warm welcome from Anna, who made us feel it was very easy to communicate with her if necessary as she lives next door."
The location of this cottage is perfect, its elevated position gives beautiful countryside views but at the same time it's only a 10/15 minute walk into the small town for convenience stores, cafes, pubs and a railway station on the frequent route from Newcastle to Carlisle. The rooms are furnished with a beautifully selected collection of antiques and vintage items, but it is still very comfortable to live in - the unusual sofa is far more comfortable than it looks in the photos, for example! The kitchen is incredibly well equipped - we self-catered for the whole week and didn't want for anything.
A couple of things to note - many reviews have mentioned that it isn't easy to sit at the kitchen table, and it's true! There's only about a 5 inch gap between the top of the dining chairs and the underside of the table. We're quite small so could just about get our legs underneath, but I understand it just wouldn't be possible for a lot of guests - not sure why the table hasn't been changed yet after so many comments. The other thing is that the only shower is in the en-suite, there is no shower in the huge family bathroom, not even over the bath. This wasn't a problem for us as there were only two of us staying, but it's useful to know if there are three or four guests staying.

"Great cottage, lovely and cosy and well equipped."
The only problem we found was the quilt was too higher tog, however the weather was abnormally warm for the time of year. Anna was available if we needed help with anything. Would visit again.

"Lovely place, lovely atmosphere."
Very happy with this booking. Steep stairs mentioned may be an issue, though not for me. The only negative for me is that dining table sides are low so that you can't get your legs under. I had a lovely week visiting Sycamore Gap, Haydon Bridge by the river, Hareshaw Linn near Bellingham, West Rigg Opencut, Hexham swimming pool for late swims and the Old Church nearby. Also Lambley Viaduct is a bit jaw-dropping. Had it been snowing I'd have trained into Newcastle to wander over all the bridges there. Many thanks.

"Super location for this chocolate box cottage."
Lovely away garden for our exclusive use.
Friendly and helpful host Anna.
We had a few niggles that didn’t affect our overall stay but could be better -
The bathroom and twin bedroom doors did not shut properly and rattled and swung when it was windy.
The many chopping boards are stuck firmly to the kitchen counter tops!?
You can’t get your knees under the kitchen table and the table top is not attached to the frame underneath and moves if you push on it.
It is a squeeze to get around the bottom of the beds in the twin room - maybe a different layout would work?
Also, not something that can be altered, the stair are VERY steep. We had to go up with our hands on the stairs - we are older but not infirm!
These are MINOR niggles. We had a lovely week staying in Pagecroft Cottage.

"The cottage is in the most beautiful spot, with amazing views."
There is a gorgeous garden to sit and enjoy a morning cuppa in, whilst taking in the stunning view. Waking up to the sound of lambs and birds was wonderful. During our 2 night stay we found the cottage to be very clean and very well presented. It is traditional and is furnished in a traditional style, which added to its unique charm. However this means steep stairs and a few potential breakables which might need consideration with young children! The kitchen is very well equipped and there were lovely additions of milk, eggs and biscuits which were very much appreciated. Anna the host was helpful and informative. We really enjoyed staying in the cottage and the location is absolutely beautiful.

"Had a lovely welcome from Anna who showed us round the cottage."
The kitchen had everything you could possibly need kids enjoyed the biscuits that was provided. The beds was so comfortable and two bathrooms was a hit as I was with wife and two daughters. Wife really enjoyed the window seats with lovely views out to the fields and garden was relaxing. Had to turn heating off of an evening as it was too warm. Would highly recommend for the peace and quiet.
