Beautiful cottage only a few minutes away from Newby Bridge yet in a quiet lane.

Will book it again.

A hidden gem.

Loved the peace and quiet that Hazlerigg cottage provided. As I was staying during the hottest week of the year so far, walking into the cottage felt so cool due to the thickness of the ancient walls, however the underfloor heating and towel rail in the upstairs bathroom had been left on and upstairs was like a sauna and took ages to cool down due to limited opening windows and no breeze to shift the hot air. Also, bizarrely, one day the downstairs bedroom radiator was on fully when I returned, even though all the other radiators were off and the heating controller was also turned off. I have no idea how that could’ve happened, but I went round and turned every radiator off. Sykes had informed me that the out building could accommodate a mountain bike but on arrival there was no way it would fit as it was full of junk and too narrow so my bike had to live just inside the front door behind the sofa. Aside of this, the cottage was well equipped, clean and I thoroughly enjoyed my week here.

The cottages were appointed it’s remote location offers a sense of calm out of the from the hustle and bustle of lakes.

The cottages well modernised with a smart TV and comfy sofas in the lounge with a beautiful wood burner brackets we didn’t use as it was hot. There are a few areas where things are breaking as previous reviews. The upstairs shower is functional but has cosmetic damage to the taps and the back bedroom has a makeshift blind the mostly covers a skylight. The kitchen is particularly impressive with good quality pans and cooking facilities. The driveway isn’t that tight and can be manoeuvred on a simple swing in.

The property was clean when we first got in and we was impressed with what's included. The dogs enjoyed their time, with it being a great location for Windermere. On further inspection, some areas could do with touch ups such as the different paint in the kitchen and the sky lights plastering - would also be nice for a proper skylight blind to be fitted downstairs. The beds also weren't too comfy, it would be good to have some higher quality mattress put in. A nice glass of bubbly was provided and we had an issue with the heating thermostat while away - however the team were out within the hour and sorted it so we had heating back on - just had to control by the radiators. We would stay again - if the mattresses were upgraded. Other than that, it's a really nice cottage that has alot of potential.

The cottage was well equipped and generally clean although there were a few unclean areas Disappointed that there was no welcome package in all the previous rentals there has been at least a pint of milk Having to watch the tv through Apps was a pain Nice quiet area though

We had an excellent stay.

The cottage is beautiful and has everything you need. Plenty of fabulous walks nearby and close enough to amenities as Cartmel and Windermere are a short car ride away. Would highly recommend Hazelrigg Cottage.

we had a great weekend at hazelrigg cottage , we thought it was going to be snug , but was actually a bit bigger than expected , in general tastefully done , we had issues with the Wi-Fi dropping out and the tv package, (not great with young kids )but the real selling point of this cottage , is your a mile from Newby bridge , 2 from lake side and their pubs etc.

, but it feels totally remote, in nature away from everyone , no hustle and bustle here , if that's what you want , this is a very peaceful setting with walks from the door ,a great place to relax and recharge the batteries , wish we could of stayed longer .there's a few small maintenance issues that need sorting out , and beware of the tight drive ,non of which spoiled our stay , in general a great little cottage .

This is an absolute gem.

It took me quite a while to find the perfect place for us to rent and this was great. Out in the hills and extremely quiet but central enough to get anywhere easily, which was perfect. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. The only negative was the toilet rolls (think someone else had previously mentioned this), little bit more would have been good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much in fact, we’ve already booked to return later in the year.

This was our second visit to this cottage.

It is a stunning accommodation that was immaculate throughout. We shall definitely be rebooking.

Lovely house, nicely furnished, very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean.

Cosy and warm. On the downside, we were supplied with only 1 1/2 toilet rolls for 3 people for a 3-night stay and then had to buy our own from the garage, and only a tiny amount of washing up liquid to do our dishes. We were looking forward to having a wood burner fire on, but sadly were only provided with three thin pieces of skinny wood, almost twig like, no paper, no firelighters, no matches etc. Where is the wood? It would be helpful to have a chair in the upstairs bedroom (or stool) to sit on when drying your hair and putting make-up on in front of the mirror, and a brighter light in the upstairs bedroom. The radiator in the downstairs bedroom had broken and we were provided with a heater, that was the most complicated contraption ever to work with no instructions. It was touch screen that didn’t work and had a flashing WiFi symbol on it. A far more simple heater would suffice. Also be aware if you stay in the downstairs bedroom when it rains there is a constant loud drip that kept us awake on the second night as the roof is flat and we suspect the pipe has a crack in it. The drip was relentless all night!

Hazlerigg Cottage is impeccably presented.

It is clean and fresh, cosy and warm, tastefully decorated and well equipped with modern appliances. It is located in a peaceful setting away from through traffic -perfect to get away from it all. There are plenty of walks right from the door. We had a great stay. Peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for sharing Hazelrigg with us.

What a fantastic property!

We loved our stay in November and felt very relaxed in the rural location. The property was well heated which was so welcoming after a several hours walking outside in the winter weather. Another lovely touch was the bottle of Prosecco on welcome! Only downside was upstairs had a noticeable damp aroma, so we selected the downstairs bedroom option instead.

A nice property in a beautiful spot.

Well equipped in the kitchen, with cosy and comfortable furniture throughout. Some elements of decoration need detail (photo frames, wall pictures are generic/ unchanged from the shelf) but overall nicely laid out and clean. Thank you!

We had a lovely break in Hazelrigg Cottage.

We had everything we needed, the cottage was lovely inside with lots of extras such as games and films which delighted my daughter. The cottage was lovely and clean, warm with the luxury of a wood burning stove and plenty of room for everyone including our dog Woody. We enjoyed the Prosecco left for us and had no problems whatsoever.

We had a lovely weekend in the lakes staying at Hazelrigg.

Cottage was as shown, pictures are accurate and place is lovely, kitchen has everything you need. I love all the Neff appliances and the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Upstairs room has the larger bed. Cottage in lovely peaceful setting. Lots of walks from the cottage or short drive to larger towns. Would stay again

A beautiful cottage, much larger than expected, and very comfortable.

The owners had thought of everything to make our stay welcoming, and what wasn't there, they provided directions on how to find the information. The bubbly was a thoughtful and appreciated touch, as was the inclusion of maps of the local area. Would happily recommend

The house was lovely very clean and cosy.

Had everything we needed and had obviously been recently done . (Please give us the name of your tiler!) the only negative was the drive - the angle, the gates and the wall at the bottom made it really hard to get the car in and it was hard to keep the dog contained. That is our only slight negative otherwise it was beautiful

The cottage was very clean and comfortable.

Well equipped. Beautiful surroundings and so quiet in the evenings. Loved that you could walk a little way from the cottage and be surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lovely and rural, but still close enough to local facilities and a great base to travel out to places. We travel the uk alot and the lakes definitely took our breath away. Absolutely stunning scenery.

Lovely place to stay down a beautiful country track, hidden away from the town but a short drive to the shop and pub.

Nice, clean place but could do with some handwash in each bathroom. Would definitely come back.

Lounge radiator leaking water and not operating TV - lack of understandable directions to us.

Our third time staying here and another great stay, this time with our son, his girlfriend, our fifteen month old grandson and Milo the cocker spaniel.

If your looking for a quite spot in the lakes but with easy access to everything the south lakes has to offer then this cottage is perfect. The property has everything you need if your wanting to eat in for the night. The only recommendation would be a second sofa as when four adults want to sit and watch tv comfortably in an evening one person has to sit on the chair from the kitchen. This definitely won’t be our last time staying here.

Very well presented cottage in a very peaceful location.

We had a great stay at Hazelrigg cottage, a very comfortable cottage , very relaxing place to stay, I would highly recommend Hazelrigg,we had a great walk at Grizedale forest, we walked from the cottage to Newby bridge and then onto Lakeside and got the ferry over to Windermere, we drove to Ravenglass and got little old ratty ( train) , to boot and from there we did the waterfall walk, your options are endless, but after a busy day we found Hazelrigg had everything we needed to then put our feet up and relax.

We loved our stay cottage was beautiful one of our party had not so great mobility and found the cottage easy to access with her walking stick they loved the downstairs bathroom.

We had the upstairs one and loved the under floor heating the cottage was very modern inside and very well presented one slight moan would be the upstairs bathroom sink didn't drain that well but other than that perfect as to parking we managed to park 2 large cars on the drive with gates open the vicinity where the cottage is, is very remote but so easy to get to parts of the lake district we wanted to see. Another thumbs up was a bottle of prossecco in the fridge as a welcome gift. We will definitely be staying here again

A stunning cottage.

Beautifully decorated, very comfortable beds and immaculately clean. We have just returned from a four night stay. Perfect in every way. We have already booked for a seven night stay next January.

The bedside lamps in the bedroom upstairs did not work at all.

They were very flimsy as well. We just tried to switch it on and it started to fell down. I do not think they are looked at properly. It is otherwise a decent little place and we would love to return there. Thanks.

Really cute and comfortable little cottage, we absolutely loved it.

The only little things that need looking at, were the downstairs toilet seat which is very loose, some drawer handles in the kitchen are very loose with one missing completely, longer screws needed, cover board under the cooker keeps dropping down as the clip has failed that holds it and finally it would have been more relaxing on the final day if the check out time was 11am as it is quite a rush to get everyone ready and the house tidy by 10 am. Like I said though, we absolutely loved the cottage and the small issues mentioned didn't impact our stay but need looking at before they get any worse. Thankyou

A beautifully furnished and comfortable property in a peaceful location.

The WiFi worked well, as did phone reception noting previous comments. We had a few minor issues during our stay. We did contact maintenance as the upstairs bathroom toilet’s flush was not working properly. This was fixed the same day. We also reported that the shower screen in the downstairs bathroom had a leak which needed mopping up each day. This was not fixed. Some of the pans were very scratched so we only wanted to use 2 of them and the measuring jug needs replacing. These minor things to one side, we loved our stay and property and would happily recommend and stay again.

Exactly what we wanted!

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful cottage.

It’s well decorated, very comfortable and quiet place. While it’s tucked away from the main roads, it’s still ideally situated for Lake Windermere. Wifi is an issue and is a bit of a hit and miss especially with phone network being poor as well (the information booklet at cottage does highlight this) it might be helpful to include this on the advert for others who may need reliable internet. Apart from that a cosy place to switch off while you stay there. Thanks!

Hazelrigg Cottage is lovely, off the beaten track but ideal to explore Lake Windermere and the surrounding area.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cottage, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and lovely lounge area.

Beautiful cottage , beautifully decorated, very comfortable and very quiet . Although ‘off the beaten track’ ideally situated for the lake Windermere and more . Only problem was the WiFi which was not at all good and was continually dropping out , so we were unable to watch the TV . This was not a problem for us as we weren’t reliant on it but it maybe worth mentioning it in the information on the Sykes website ( it does say in the information booklet at the cottage ‘ WiFi is not always strong ‘ however it would be useful in case others need it . We had a lovely time at the cottage the only down side we found was the patio and parking area as 2 of the guests have mobility issues it was a struggle on the surface shale or chippings and parking for 2 vehicles

We found this cottage perfect for the 2 of us with a dog. Would highly recommend if wanting to stay at a beautiful place close to Windermere.

Our second stay at this fantastic place this time with our son his girlfriend and their 9 week old baby boy anlong with Milo the Cocker Spaniel and it definitely won’t be our last.

One slight build would be a clothes airer as we had to wash grandchild’s baby grows and had no where to hang to dry. Other than that if your looking for a great base is the south lakes look no further!

We loved this little cottage it’s clean and equipped with all appliances and very welcoming with a bottle of Prosecco also a few coffee pods.

Beds were very comfortable with easy access to each bathroom because they’re en suite. Showers was lovely and warm and the log burner was a great after a muddy wet walk and the traditional cottage features made this modern finished cottage just perfect. We high recommend and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

Great stay at Hazelrigg Cottage which exceeded all our expectations.

Small issue on arrival due to a recent power cut but communication with the Owner was excellent and resolved straight away. The cottage is extremely well equipped with all that is required for a relaxing stay. The owner had obviously taken onboard previous comments and there was both a small stock of coffee pods plus a starter pack of kindling and logs for the first couple of nights. This is great and along with the bottle of prosecco etc made you feel welcome. Walks from the cottage with the dog are great with numerous well marked trails available. Kitchen is excellent with top class appliances and spotlessly clean (as was all of the cottage) and nothing better than relaxing in front of the log burner on an evening. Excellent cottage and we look forward to a return visit. Thank you.

We loved everything about this little place, just what we were after!

The cottage had everything you could need, was well equipped, comfortable and in the perfect location to spend the day exploring before an evening relaxing by the fire. We loved the traditional cottage features but with a modern finish. Would highly recommend.

Disappointing… this property has so much promise but sadly fails to deliver.

On arrival at the cottage we found the kettle still half full of water, the milk frother full of festering milk from previous guests and we also found food splashes on the chopping board and food remnants on pots/pans/knives etc. We also found the following- missing handle on kitchen drawer, cobwebs in the ceiling light/window in kitchen, toothpaste marks on the sink in the downstairs bathroom, dead bugs inside the light fitting in the upstairs bathroom, ripped/torn bed linen and overflowing bins. It’s also worth mentioning that whilst a log burner and coffee machine are featured in cottage, no logs/kindling or coffee pods are left for guests to use, according to the owner this is too logistically challenging? Contacted the owner whilst we were there regarding issues with cleanliness, they gave a lacklustre apology but ultimately passed the book to the cleaning company they hire - the owners don’t live nearby so couldn’t do anything practical to offer support and Sykes didn’t bother to contact us at all until after we’d already arrived back home, we’re actually still yet to have a proper conversation with Sykes regarding the issues. Sadly it was a really disappointing stay in what could be a lovely cottage in the perfect location, a real shame.

First couple renting this cottage with our cocker spaniel Milo.

What a fantastic place, finished to a very high standard, really well furnished, and the best equipped property we have stayed in! The owners have really gone the extra mile with this place and should be proud of what they have accomplished. Easy access to south lakes, Newby Bridge, Cartmel and Grizedale Forest. Nicely tucked away up a country road providing easy walks to take the dog out from your front door, peaceful and very very quiet. The only recommendation would be better lighting around the parking area as very dark at night due to no street lights.
