    Great location and well-equipped home from home. On street parking right outside and never any difficulty finding a space. The most comfortable bed and a very peaceful location for a very good night’s sleep.

  • "The cottage was as described."

    It was in a great location for Windermere and within walking distance to Bowness. We were pleased with the accommodation, it was certainly adequate for 4 adults and our dog. There were a couple of points to mention. ●The bed in the top floor room is noisey, and the bed base could do with being renewed, it makes a noise every time you turn over. ●The bath is very high, especially when its probably used by people who mainly just shower, my 73 year old parents struggled, yes we knew it was a bath, but its very high! ●We specifically asked that the cottage was decorated for christmas and this was confirmed, imagine our disappointment arriving on christmas eve to find 3 stockings and a small wall decoration.... we would have brought our own decorated tree if we had known... we did find a Christmas tree in a box in the cupboard, we had to assemble it, we found decorations in a charity shop and a few lights in the hardware store to make it look more festive. ●Bring your own logs... we arrived Xmas Eve, there were no logs, we didnt expect that there would be a store full of them, but also didnt expect to be left 4pm on xmas eve with no logs, we couldnt actually buy any until 27th ... Theres central heating but with 2 single radiators for a large space, it doesnt heat the room.

    Dear Carl. Thank you for your feedback. I’m happy that you were generally pleased with the cottage and the location. I hadn’t ever noticed a creak in the bed on top floor bedroom. This bed is a king size that separates to form two singles if required. It is a good quality one. Next time I am there I will check this out, it may be the bed joining mechanism. The bath is a standard height Victorian style stand alone roll top bath, on feet. It has a a linked Victorian style shower if needed. I’m sorry that your older parents found it too high for them. It isn’t something I’d personally ever thought. Modern style baths are generally a bit lower in design. I had expected the Christmas tree to be assembled for you actually, so apologies that it wasn’t. We don’t have lights for it for safety purposes and potential fire risk. The housekeeping people do not normally include supplying logs in their tasks. Logs can easily be picked up at all of the local supermarkets and garages. I’m sorry that you weren’t able to pick any up as it was Xmas. Next time I am over there I will leave a few logs. There was a bit of a cold snap then. There is a brand new efficient boiler in the cottage. I have personally always found the living room and the rest of the cottage to be very warm. The thermostat at the bottom of the stairs can also be turned up manually if required, the instructions are in the bound booklet on top of or in the corner cabinet. If it is turned up we request that it is reset to ‘auto’ preset for temperature etc afterwards, the instructions explain how to do this, it is easy. Kind regards, Kevin Property Owner

  • "The cottage is exactly as pictured on website and is beautiful."

    The snug was upstairs so a little different to what I initially thought. The cottage is well located between the Lake at Bowness and Windermere. The kitchen was well equipped and there were even condiments in the cupboard. A real home from home feeling. The shower started dripping during our stay and I contacted Skyes just so they could let the owners know so it could be sorted for the next guests, however it was fixed straight away. Maintainance guys arrived very promptly and sorted it. I definitely recommend this cottage and will return again.

  • "Beautiful property, 2 bedroom terrace but so spacious."

    Kids loved their 3rd floor bedroom. Nice and quiet area but 1 minute walk from good pub and only 5 mins from centre of Windermere. Minor things to feedback on. 1. As mentioned in a previous review - water takes a long time to drain when having a shower. No big issue though. 2. Main bedroom could do with a blind - not much privacy from the laundry business across road. 3. Parking - whilst yes there is plenty of on street parking - I never got our car anywhere near the property. None of the above detracted from a beautiful stay and wouldn’t put us off booking bell flower again.

  • "The cottage was perfect for me, my husband and our dog!"

    Liked the way it had been furnished and equipped. Appreciated the good quality bed linen and Denby crockery. Great to have a washing machine, fridge-freezer and dishwasher, and the water pressure and heat of the shower were both excellent. Only minor maintenance issue was that water drained slowly from the bath, which may need addressing. Cottage was very clean. Such a great location, a short walk from Windermere but on a quiet residential street. Wonderful walks aplenty, within a short walk, bus ride or drive. Could definitely manage at this cottage without a car as it is close to the train station too. Very much recommend Banditos Burritos and Tapios tapas for food

  • "We had such a wonderful stay at the cottage."

    It’s a beautiful and really spacious property and in a fantastic location - you can do some great walks right from the doorstep! It was really well equipped and super clean.   • "This was a lovely well equipped cottage."

    It was perfectly situated within 10 mins walk of the centre of the village. Parking was on the street but we never had a problem finding a space. The only problems we had was that the dish washer did not work, there did not seem to be any water flowing to it and also one of the dining room chairs seemed to be falling apart. None of the these detracted from our stay though and we would certainly go back.

The property

Bellflower Cottage, a few minutes’ walk from Windermere village, seems like a typical, Victorian end of terrace house but step inside and you’ll love the cool and contemporary interiors, beautifully mixed with period pieces.

The front porch opens to a bright and spacious living space with beautiful solid oak floor, and comfy sofas around a log burning stove.

Feature period pieces of furniture are the key design elements of this cottage that set it apart from the norm.

The family dining table sits at the heart of the home - the ideal place to gather and plan your day in the Lakes or to relax and socialise in the evening.

There’s a well-equipped shaker style kitchen with everything you need.

On the first floor is the tastefully designed master bedroom with super king-size bed, William Morris headboard and period furniture.

On the second floor the smart second bedroom can be presented as either a super king-size or twin.

The bedrooms are complemented by superb Victorian style family bathroom, comprising feature roll top bath with shower over, basin and WC.

In addition, there’s a snug reading room with a comfy corner sofa, additional TV, DVD and desk.

A place to escape and relax quietly with a good book, watch your favourite TV programme or for the kids to have their own space.

To the rear of the cottage there is a sunny, south-facing courtyard with bistro style table and chairs, just the spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

For those with outdoor gear, there is lockable storage for bikes, golf clubs and other sports equipment.

Windermere village is a lovely place to make yourself at home, with lazy cafes for breakfast, plenty of shops for stocking up the kitchen, traditional Lake District pubs and several restaurants to choose from.

A number of superb walks begin nearby, including the easy ascent of Orrest Head which promises spectacular views of Lake Windermere from the top.

Walk or drive less than a mile down the road and you'll reach bustling Bowness, a popular Lake District holiday destination offering sophisticated shopping, a range of restaurants and a lively nightlife - from the cosy 'Hole int Wall' traditional pub to the trendy Bodegas & Sol tapas bar.

From Bowness Bay, you can catch a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - what a way to explore without driving!

For touring by car, you'll find Windermere a great place to start.

A famously scenic stretch of the A591 leads to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere.

Branch off into the Troutbeck Valley and take one of the most breath-taking scenic drives in the Lake District - over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater with a stop at the acclaimed Queen's Head for lunch.

Alternatively, hop aboard the car ferry and discover the tranquillity of Windermere's west short, where lies the newly restored Victorian viewing station, Claife Heights, with superb stained-glass windows and a different view of Windermere.

A little further along and you'll discover Beatrix Potter's Hill Top at Far Sawrey, with Grizedale and Hawkshead a few miles further on.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
