  • "Foxrock is a beautiful, more than well equipped, cosy, modern holiday home."

The home has been superbly furnished with all mod cons and a beautiful log stove that we enjoyed in the evenings. The outside space was also well equipped and maintained and it was just bliss to be up early in the morning, with my Labrador, with the patio door open, listening to nothing but the birds and the sound of the stream running by the bottom of the garden!❤️ However, I had just a couple of niggles with the cleanliness. Whilst sweeping up after my own dog, I was also sweeping up the dog hair from a previous stay; my Labrador is white and there were lots of black dog hairs I was sweeping up! The radiator in the bathroom was really dusty and not really somewhere I wanted to hang my facecloth to dry! And the grill was a little grubby and had to be washed/scrubbed before I could use it. We did have an issue with the lock on the bathroom door, but I phoned Sykes and reported it, and the maintenance team came out quickly to repair that. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would return to it in a heartbeat. Thank you ☺️

Hi sorry for the delay responding and thanks for your great review. We have spent a lot of time trying to get everything right for the best experience possible. We are very sorry that you have experienced a few cleaning issues which we have addressed with Sykes. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "This property looks as beautiful as promised in the photographs, but the beds are incredibly uncomfortable, which spoiled my holiday."

I also think you should make it clear in the property description that the second bathroom is effectively in another building. For 5 adults, only having 1 indoor bathroom each morning was a little tricky and had we known this we would have booked somewhere else.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your say at Foxrock. Everyone has their own preference for a mattress - we have had no complaints and even very positive comments on the comfort of the beds. The mattresses are all significant quality and are medium to firm with additional mattress toppers to try and cater for the majority of peoples preferences. We have also made it extremely clear that the bathroom downstairs is not accessed from the main house. We tried every which way possible to link the under floor and under Croft but it was not possible without loosing a bedroom. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house to spend a week in."

We were fortunate to have stunning weather whilst we were there and the sun terrace really came into its own. Very comfortable home and well situated for both Bowness and Windermere. Very comfortable beds and very clean property. For hot weather it would be good to have a parasol on the terrace as it is a real sun trap.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are glad you had the best weather! Unfortunately we can not leave a parasol on the terrace because they damage the roof structure if they we’re to fall as has happened previously when left unattended. Property Owner

  • "Just returned home from a weeks break at Foxrock."

It was amazing! Really did not want to leave. We have stayed in many holiday properties over the years and this one was the best by a mile. So clean, modern features, extremely well equipped (I particularly liked the utility/boot room, excellent facilities and space to be able to clean and store boots after a walk and keep on top of holiday washing). The outdoor spaces are beautiful, listening to the stream running through the back garden and sitting out on the terrace in the sunshine was bliss. The house is in a superb location for walks and also popping to Windermere or Bowness for a quick pint and some food (which we did frequently!) Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I am waiting patiently for next years dates to be released so we can return.

Your comments are very kind and we are super pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Foxrock. We will release the dates for next year soon and would be very happy to welcome you back next year. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous holiday in a well maintained property."

Only thing I was unsure of before coming is whether towels were provided, bedding was clear but not towels. I will recommend this to anyone that asks and would certainly book again if coming back to the lakes. I can imagine that in the winter it would be very cosy.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the lakes and our home. Winters are certainly beautiful but so is Autumn as the colours on the trees really change the landscape.. Property Owner

  • "We had a great time."

Super location for walking to hills/local shops/restaurants & the lake. The property was beautifully renovated. The upstairs bedroom became very warm so we were grateful for the fan provided. Unfortunately we couldn’t find the cushions for the garden furniture or the parasol. The beds & pillows were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed including a superb cooker/induction hob & instant boiling water tap. The bathrooms were of a high standard with excellent showers.

Hi - we are glad that you had good weather and enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the cushions were damaged recently and we have not been able to source any of a comparable standard but the furniture is designed to be use with and without soft cushions. Thank you for your positive feedback.. Property Owner

  • "Lovely modern, clean accommodation throughout."

Great decor and good kitchen design. Fabulous outside seating area from kitchen with far reaching views. Just a shame that the lower annexe isn’t connected via an inside staircase to the main house. You have to go out through the front door - this was clearly stated in the holiday details so we were aware. And the only downside for us all (5 people) was having to share one bathroom as there are no en suite bathrooms.

Hi and thanks for your positive comments. We tried to design the house to include the lower ground but the property is built on rock and we could not accommodate a staircase between the floors - it previously had a ladder which would not work for holiday let’s! Thanks. Property Owner

  • "My first booking with Sykes Cottages turned out excellent choice, customer services is second to none."

However as for the property there was no Xbox console so kids could not play dissapointing, second bathroom access was not convienient otherwise everything was good we had a fabulous stay simply amazing. I would definately recommend Foxrock.

  • "Foxrock ticked all the boxes for us and was perfect for our first family get together since 2019."

The facilities are excellent, the only minor drawback being that you can’t access the second bathroom without going outside, and the front door automatically locking itself which created a few panic moments with only one set of keys! The sun terrace is a fabulous addition and we sat outside most days, the property is perfectly located for all Lakeland activities and we made the most of our stay with SUP, Honister Via Ferrara, hill walking and running along the Dales way directly from the front door. We ate out several times and you can easily walk into Bo’ness or Windermere to do this.

  • "We stay in holiday cottages most years but have never stayed in anything of this standard."

It was within close walking distance to both Bowness and Windermere and there was plenty of parking. The accommodation was furnished to an extremely high standard. With the weather being so good, we spent most of our time on the elevated sun terrace. The only downside we found is it’s popularity. We looked at rebooking straight away but as it is booked up until 2023, it seems a lot of people have enjoyed it as much as we did.

  • "Fantastic accommodation and brilliantly presented."

Awesome location between Windermere and Bowness. The facilities are five star; the hosts have thought of everything you might need. My only observation, and it is not a criticism of the accommodation, is that the listing should make it clear that the second bathroom and utility room are in a separate annex not accessible directly from the main house. This was not an issue for us as a 5 person party however, it would be frustrating if you were a larger group with children.

  • "Fantastic weeks holiday at Foxrock, the property was outstanding and the owners have thought about so many little details that add that extra touch to your stay."

Not often you get such a classy property that also allows dogs so it was perfect for us! Great location too, only a 5 min walk to Bowness.
