  • "Had a few issues that the previous group had obviously caused but the main thing was the plumbing which was sorted out by the owner promptly, other than that a beautiful house in a fantastic location, would highly recommend."

  • "This is a property I cannot pick fault with, our second time here and booked again for next year!"

It is spacious with large tasteful rooms, the kitchen is well equipped and as we were fortunate enough to have a hot sunny week the garden is beautiful to still and relax in. Location is great with a short walk to either the walk or the shops. A fantastic base for a Lakes holiday.

  • "We were a party of 5."

This property was absolutely fabulous. With lots of space, a perfect equipped kitchen and garden furniture for our comfort. There is only one little complaint. One of us is a passionated gardener and was a bit disappointed when we came back on one day and the lawn was freshly cut. He would have loved to do that himself :-). We would definitely recommend Thorndale and would try to book it again for our next visit in the Lake District.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and look forward to welcoming you in the future. Owner Relations Expert Property Owner

  • "Thorndale was a superb property with all facilities required for a holiday cottage."

The standard of the property was excellent. My only issues of concern for anyone considering the property would be the stairs leading down to the kitchen area and lower floor bedroom from the lounges. They are difficult to negotiate even if able bodied, but could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. We did have someone in the party who was on crutches who did have problems and the only way to access the dining/kitchen/lower bedroom was via these stairs unless detoured via the garden. Otherwise, the property got 5 stars. Well situated for Bowness and Windermere. Would not have any issues with booking this property again. You do maintain your fitness with the stairs in general.

Thank you for the lovely response and taking the time to comment. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Thorndale. Given our internal stairs the house is definitely better suited to able bodied people. Property Owner

  • "We have had a great stay in Thorndale, just as the pictures!"

! Great location. Outside area must be great in the summer. Beds were so comfortable! Kitchen well equipped, apart from pint glasses, also it is meant to be no pets, but there was definitely pet hair on the kitchen rug. We had a baby crawling on the floor. We will definitely be back!!

Thank you for your kind response. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Thorndale. We will pass on your comment on the pet hairs - that should not happen. And we will check out the pint glasses ;-) Hopefully see you again soon in Windermere. Property Owner

The house was even better than we imagined from the photos on the website; high quality furnishing all in very good condition. Very spacious property and a fantastic garden. Off street parking was really useful too. We had a fabulous time and would definitely return.

  • "We loved the property!"

Just as described. Plenty of space for us all, fully equipped kitchen, and great garden, roomy parking too. Extra surprises were the kid’s toys in the cupboard and a few bits in the garden that helped keep our little boy occupied. The location is perfect for walking into Bowness or Windermere, or easy to get out in the car to other places. As previous guests noted, there were a few bits of cleaning that needed a bit more attention but on the whole it was fine.

  • "Great location allowing us to walk to either Bowness or Windermere which played a big factor in why we booked Thorndale."

The house is lovely, spacious and nicely laid out with quality fixtures and furnishings, tastefully decorated and met my main requirements of powerful showers and comfortable beds (though the latter is a matter of personal preference). The garden is a delight to sit out in on a nice day. My only gripes echo those of others. Some of the cleaning wasn't up to scratch and I'm not being picky - soap/toothpaste stains on the tiles on the ensuite walls, a scum at the water level within the w.c and dirty floor tiles - I don't think the ensuite had been cleaned at all. Also the lack of any liquid soap at any of the sinks meant we had to go out to a shop the moment we arrived which isn't ideal - we spent a few £ on liquid soap for every sink and left them behind us so hopefully guests for the next few months don't have the same issue.

  • "This was the third visit by our family to Thorndale."

It is a beautiful & very well presented house in a great location with excellent all round facilities. The cleanliness was of an adequate standard but some areas had been overlooked, quite possible due to the heavy workload of the cleaner! We will definitely return in the future as this is one of our favourite properties in the area.

  • "The property we stayed in was lovely."

High quality house and fittings. The house was in a super location for our group. A quiet residential area just off the main road and accessible on foot to lots of amenities. There was a slight problem with some cleanliness issues. The coffee table had sticky marks on it and there were quite a few crumbs in the kitchen and dinning room. Other than that we had a fabulous time and would have no hesitation recommending this property.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we are glad you had a good time at Thorndale. We will ensure the cleaning team is being made aware of your comments and hope to welcome you back soon. Property Owner

The property was really special, loads of room for everyone, ultra comfy beds and great facilities. Thorndale is central to a lot of places without having to travel far and near lots of great eateries. Having nothing negative to say about Thorndale, a fantastic place to stay.

  • "Thorndale is a lovely house so comfortable and cosy."

Beds very comfortable. Showers great. We would have liked cleaning things available. Paying as much as we did we thought we shouild have a bench spray, hand wash gel, something to clean the toilets, foil to protect trays when using the oven. We have had these things in other properties we have been to. We were on holiday and didnt expect to have to do shopping for these things in order to keep the place nice and clean. Otherwise everything was lovely. Awfull weather mind so fires were very welcome.

  • "We really loved the house, it is bright and spacious and very comfortably furnished and in a fantastic location."

It has a lovely garden and furniture if the sun shines. Kitchen very well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. The super king bedroom downstairs is very spacious with lots of storage. However we were a group of 2 couples and 2 children and the lovely larger bedroom upstairs that can be converted to a twin really is more suitable for a couple rather than 2 children. The third bedroom at the back is much smaller but better for children, we think it would work much better if this room had twin beds in it rather than a small double. Just a few niggles, the towel rail in the bathroom was loose and came off the wall and the shower screen in the bedroom upstairs kept coming off the rail and a few handles were missing on a chest of drawers. Apart from that it was great and if the beds were changed in the back bedroom for 2 children we would love to stay again.

  • "Beautiful house and fantastic location."

We were disappointed that the garden furniture was bare with no cushions. I did contact the office before our holiday to ask if the cushions would be on the outside furniture and was told that they were not sure but would find out and get back to me with the answer. I never got question answered and it takes so long to get hold of the office on the phone. Also the bed on the top floor (the one without the en-suite) was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, pillows were bad too. I ended up with a bad neck which worsened as the week went on, which really did put a downer on the holiday.
