  • "A homely feeling to the cottage."

Very clean and comfortable. The welcome gifts were a nice surprise. It was good to see all the fixtures and fittings, equipment etc are of a good standard. The direct contact messages were very welcome. Really enjoyed our first foray into cottage rental and we will definitely book again.

  • "Lovely cozy cottage in tranquil position with beautiful views towards the hills from the front porch."

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, fridge microwave hob and oven/grill, all utensils etc. The bed was really comfortable and the decor gave the room a calming feel. The log burner in the lounge was an added bonus. The outside seating areas are lovely especially the raised patio at the back of the cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage with everything we needed for a comfortable week away for 2."

The Log burner was cheerful to sit in front of on a damp evening, the bed was very comfortable and we slept very well indeed. The cottage is small but perfectly formed for a week away for 2.

  • "Corner cottage was just lovely."

We had the best nights sleep. The cottage was warm, and very clean. Beautifully decorated, and a great log burner; first night logs would be helpful especially when arriving late. It would be good to also say in travelling instructions, to put in the address of the Mortal Man Inn in the sat nav, as the postal address of Corner Cottage takes you to another Corner Cottage in Windermere. We know written instructions were given, but when we travelled three and a half hours and it was late, dark and raining, we missed the turning and ended up at the wrong Corner Cottage. Putting the Mortal Man address into the Sat Nav did the trick and arrived with no problem. Although the kitchen was very small, it had everything we needed; although found kettle very wide for the space. Linda and Paul contacted us with a welcoming message before we arrived, and after we arrived, and a lovely message after our time had finished at Corner Cottage; the complimentary flowers and wine were most welcoming and a lovely touch. Thank you Linda and Paul for Corner Cottage, and we look forward to our return visit. Keep the good work up. Recommended the Mortal Man Inn and the Queen's Head for food.

Thank you for your feedback for your recent stay at Corner Cottage Troutbeck. We are pleased to hear you had a lovely holiday. As per the travel instructions, the postcode for the cottage is the same for the Mortal Man Inn. We have updated the instructions to advise guests to use the postcode rather than enter the property name. We appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing you again, Lakelovers team Property Owner

  • "What a lovely little cottage, so cozy and had everything you could want including the comfiest bed we have ever slept in."

Really appreciated Linda the owner texting us at 1.15 on the day of arrival to say the cottage was ready for us, although check in time wasn't until 4.00pm, and there was wine in the fridge. It was lovely to sit and watch the birds on the numerous bird feeders in the garden. The Mortal Man hotel across the car park served lovely food as does the Queen's Head further down the road. We can't wait to stay again in this lovely cottage.

! A welcome return to Corner Cottage once again to celebrate the New Year. The weather was kind to us despite a lot of cloud but it did stay "dry". Managed to clock 50+ miles... the highlight being a New Year's Day climb up Helvellyn in glorious blue sky! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable once again! Very much appreciated the gifts and treats and preparing the log burner ready for lighting :-) Looking forward to returning soon! Thanks again

About the location

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
