Newfield Apartment 2

Fantastic location for hiking/exploring in one of the quieter lake district valleys, wonderful pub next door serving great food and an good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, would definitely recommend.

Great location nice quiet part of the lakes, there are walking guides in the property which are good.

The pub is great nice beer and food good size portions.We did have a lack of water in the bathroom at one point but after reporting it to the pub it was sorted swiftly. When we checked out I mentioned that the electric towel rail didn’t work and the extractor fan in the bathroom was on the way out. Our second time of staying at the Newfield inn and will be back next year.

Had a great stay at the apartment.

It was the perfect size for a single person and dog. The pub next door was great for a bit of extra food and the staff were really freindly and helpfull. Also situated with many walks near to the location. Also relatively close to "Sca Fell Pike", though I did not manage to walk up (my fault).

The accommodation was a superb base for exploring the beautiful, surrounding area.

It is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and situated in a lovely, quiet location. There are places to see, straight from the front door and the adjacent inn provides a welcome dinner (or drink), if required. It is highly recommended, and I would definitely consider returning.

We had a 3 week stay at Newfield apartment 2.

It is a ground floor, one bedroom , dog friendly property. It wasn't luxurious and is a bit dated, but was comfortable enough. It had a workable kitchen, which was important as we mainly catered for ourselves. The shower worked well and the beds were comfortable. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean. Parking was never an issue either. There was a TV and internet which worked well, despite the rural location. The apartment was a bit damp in places, and the bedroom ceiling had so many cobwebs, it looked like it was preparing for Halloween. However, we had a lovely stay and Les, (the bar and property manager), Zac, Mark, and John (the barmen) were all lovely, approachable, friendly, and good company, for the many visits we made to the Newfield Inn -next door. The food there was lovely and a special mention must go to Les's homemade flapjacks...delicious.

Had 2 wonderful weeks over christmas, the pub next door is great for good food and company.

The cottage is warm, beds comfy, good shower, and the area around is beautiful. Would return.

It was clean, warm and cosy.

It is in a perfect setting for walking in the day and evenings by the fire in the pub next door or just watching TV.

This is a great little apartment for walking - there are multiple routes from here, and it gives you everything you need to get out and enjoy them, then come "home", be warm and snug, and cook your dinner (or buy it from the pub.

) There's a decent amount of space throughout, and a working kitchen. The internet is a decent speed (about 25Mbps down, 5Mbps up, which for this rural location is more than acceptable.) It is a bit dated, decor wise, so don't come here if that bothers you, but it doesn't worry me. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could, but I didn't feel I could quite give it 5 due to a few little niggles that could be easily sorted - e.g. one mains socket didn't work, so our laptop went flat, the microwave is so old the button labels have gone, and it is a bit tricky to work out, and the kettle drips badly. So, be prepared a for a few minor niggles. However - would I stay again? Absolutely definitely! (And I'll try to order better weather next time...)

The apartment had everything we needed for our short stay in The Lakes.

It was great having the pub next door as we hadn’t visited the area before so didn’t know how rural it was. We had a tasty evening meal in the pub and the staff there were very friendly and accommodating. Very enjoyable few days with the apartment as our base.

Second stay in Seathwaite, a hidden gem if you like a slightly quieter Lake District experience, in a very tranquil and beautiful Duddon Valley.

The apartment provides a comfortable, clean, if a little basic, accommodation in the centre of the hamlet, next door to welcoming Newfield Inn. Step up to the apartment could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The cost is reasonable and you can walk a range of short and long distance routes from there. Shopping requires a trip to Broughton, about 30 minutes away so preplanning saves unnecessary travel! I would recommend and intend to return.

Really nice cozy cottage style inn with amazing views, self catering appliances and comfy beds and sofas.

The inn also is great with friendly staff and a nice beer garden ! Recommend and would love to come back.

I recently booked a cottage, and I must say it was my worst experience.

Firstly, the location was just okay; nothing special about it. The key collection process was very poor. Instead of having a key safe outside the cottage as is usually the case, I had to collect the key from a pub. Due to some personal reasons, I arrived late at around 10 PM and had to knock on the door for almost 30 minutes before someone finally came and handed me the key. Secondly, the cleanliness of the property was unacceptable. The carpets were very dirty, and hot water only worked sporadically. Unfortunately, I became quite ill during my stay due to the unclean conditions, which forced me to leave early. Additionally, the apartment was on the ground floor, and I could hear every noise from the people walking upstairs. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

Great location and friendly atmosphere.

The accommodation was as described, basic but comfortable with everything we needed.

I was a little worried when I saw the electric heating but it worked really well and it was soon warm even in the very cold weather we had during our stay. Our granddaughter measured the distance from the accommodation to the pub as 22 steps. The pub served good beer but we did not sample the food which was available every day from 9am to 9pm. It was open every day till 11pm which is not always the case these days. The staff and customers in the pub were very friendly and we enjoyed spending New Year’s Eve with them. We had a lovely stay but take into account you are a long way from towns and supermarkets if you decide to visit. John

We had a lovely stay and the apartment had everything to cater to our needs with a young family.

Our only issue were the people who stayed in the Apartment above were very heavy footed so sounded a lot like banging. A certain points we thought they were going to come through the ceiling. All in all though, we very much enjoyed our stay and loved that meal and drinks in the pub.

Great location Great company Great walks to Great End and Great Gable.

The attached pub is a real bonus all staff were super friendly and the food and beer were an added bonus.

Very enjoyable midweek stay.

The apartment was ideal for what we needed and the staff friendly and helpful. We self catered so didn't eat in the pub but did enjoy the beers. Superb walking/exploring for all ages

Lovely warm cottage.

Plenty of hot water and good wholesome food in the pub. Perfect for a weekend away from everything with excellent walking from the front door.

The apartment was very dated and tired with very grubby carpets in the living area, overall cleanliness was not as good as I would expect.

The grill in the top oven was very grubby and made a right mess of plates I tried to warm up in there. The Sky box and TV seemed to operate intermittently, not a real problem for me, but would be for some guests. More importantly my stay wasn’t helped by having no hot water in either the kitchen or bathroom sinks for the whole of my stay. More worryingly nobody seemed to be doing anything about it. Sadly I must have also just been unlucky with my food choices when I ate in the pub. Food looked basic but fine and customers seemed happy enough. However, neither of my two courses were cooked properly and I could not finish either of them. Not all doom and gloom, however, as they did have a good selection of well kept beers!

Nice spacious apartment for two people, lovely location and handy access to the adjacent inn for food 9am to 9pm every day.

Just back from a great holiday in Cumbria staying at the Newfield Inn.

The apartment was simply furnished and spotlessly clean. The shower was always hot . Great after a day out walking. Nice to just pop next door for a meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of walking straight from the Inn around the delightful Duddon Valley. Will definitely try to go back in the future. Don Ward and his dog Isla.

The apartment was just as described and the location, which we know well, is brilliant for exploring the unspoilt parts of the Lakes.

Adjoining a lovely pub with lovely staff makes this place exceptional.

I don't know why Sykes has this lovely property listed as Eskdale Green.

if some one doesn't know the area it is very misleading. if you do know the area it is laughable and makes you wonder what the real knowledge of the property is by the agent. If I was the property owner I would at best be frustrated! As regards the apartment it was all we hoped for: comfy, clean and practical - ideal as a walking base with our well behaved dog. There is warm and easy to operate shower and plenty of good and hot water quickly available for washing up. The landlord and the Inn next door offered us a truly open warm welcome. this was our Christmas to remember!
