  • "A delightfully furnished, resourced and provisioned cottage that enjoys a quiet situation and is cared for by very considerate owners who live close by."

The standard and maintenance of the furniture, fittings and facilities is exemplary, contributing in no small measure to the comfort and relaxation for our holiday. Lindale provides an excellent 'jumping off' point for easy access to the Southern Lake District and its more peaceful locations.

  • "The cottage is beautiful; modern, clean and well-equipped for all holiday needs."

Ian and Nicky are very friendly and welcoming - perfect hosts.Views all around are as you would expect for this part of the world - glorious. The only reservation to stop us giving it a 10 is the lack of any sort of shop etc in Lindale itself, which means a trip into Grange for any provisions. However, this certainly wouldn't stop us making a return visit and there is a lovely pub. Thank you Nicky/Ian for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cottage.

Thank you so much for this review Michael, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and we do hope to see you again. Yes, the loss of our shop was such a shame, nearest emergency provisions being down the by-pass at the Petrol station or down two miles away in Grange (or visitors can always try our back door for a borrow of milk etc - we don't mind at all). Pleased the pub looked after you well too. See you again I do hope. Property Owner

  • "Pointless to repeat the other very positive reviews (as they accord with our experience) which persuaded us decide to book this cottage."

Probably the cleanest and best equipped in which we have stayed. Lindale being south of the central mountainous area means it often misses the rain and we had a completely sunny week. HIghlight for us was nearby Levens Hall and gardens with its famous topiary, and can recommend Rogan & Co for their Michelin one star three course dinner at £79 but book in advance. Peter

Thank you Peter for this lovely review. We are glad you had a nice stay and that you enjoyed Rogan & Co: many visitors book to stay with us so they can enjoy the restaurants in Cartmel. Thanks for the lovely comments about the cottage; we work hard at making it a good offer for customers so all these good reviews are a reward for us. Hope to see you both again. Property Owner

The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped from very comfy beds to every appliance you would ever need in the kitchen.Lindale is a delightful little village with so much to do within 30mins drive. On the road parking was never a problem and we were allowed to use the drive to unload on arrival. This part of the Lake District is very quiet and peaceful and was just what we were hoping for. Our two most favourite walks were within 20 mins drive - a walk on the Kent estuary at Arnside and a walk on top of Whitbarrow Scar. We hope to return. Thanks Nicky and Ian

Everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable base from which to explore the beautiful Lake District. Lots of information provided and Nicky and Ian are the perfect hosts on hand to help if you need them. Couldn’t fault the cottage I could happily live there but unfortunately, there’s no garden available but great that it’s not essential for a holiday home as you’re busy exploring. Lovely quiet little village with The Royal Oak Pub just a short walk away with lovely Sunday dinner. Try the steam train from Haversmith to Lakeside Station and then you can take a boat ride from the Lakeside and back we’ll try the boat next time. Visit Levens Hall and Grange over Sands too where there’s a Tesco and Coop. Plenty more places to visit so we’re definitely going to return. The weather was good to us too so what more could you ask. Definitely recommend and we have to all our friends

The central heating was simple to use and quickly warmed the property. Always a good test for a cottage is the shower, we were not disappointed, it was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped with everything one could need. The beds were comfortable with nice quality bedding. There were books to read (I read The Salt Path - highly recommended) and lots of OS maps plus leaflets for places to visit. There is no parking by the cottage but plenty of spaces further up the lane so that wasn’t a problem. The lane is very quiet apart from the Primary School (below the cottage) drop off and pick up times. Grange over Sands is very close with food shops, bakery and coffee shops. Recommend a walk along the promenade there and a visit to Tom & Abi’s plant nursery in the car park.

Thanks Vivien for this lovely review, and we are so pleased you enjoyed staying in the cottage and glad you read The Salt Path - a very popular book with all my walking pals. The hosts were lovely and had thought of everything - so many nice touches to make it a lovely temporary home - that's how it felt. Love the area as well, far enough away from the crowds in the Lakes themselves, but close enough for day trips there - but also in the other direction into the Barrow Peninsular. I can't recommend it enough!

I worried about the parking but there was always a space and the road is very wide and very quiet except when the full size bin lorry drives by. A welcome gift from the owners included bread, milk, biscuits and a full fruit bowl. The facilities were excellent. A washer drier including non bio washing detergent was very welcome. There is a pub in easy walking distance via the church yard. We have never stayed in the south lakes before but Lindale is an oasis of peace and we will be back.
