  • "Instructions to get to the property and for the key collection were clear and easy to follow."

We were really impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage and the way it is kitted out - the kitchen is small but perfectly formed and had everything we needed, including a new coffee machine, thank you! The utility room is fab for keeping coats and walking boots and wetsuits out of the way and the bathrooms are fitted with really good quality showers and fittings. The beds are comfy and the welcome pack provided was very soon demolished after our long drive. It's a gorgeous garden too, we were so lucky with the weather and it was great to be able to sit out with the view and a cold drink after a hot day's walking. All in all, we really enjoyed our week in Yew Tree Cottage.

  • "Thank you for a lovely stay."

This cottage was the best cottage we have ever stayed in. It was very comfortable and clean, in a beautiful location. We went on plenty of walks from the door and had an amazing time.

  • "A lovely cottage, nicely refurbished with a fantastic view from every window."

It was great to be able to take walks from the cottage without ever having to use a car. Parking spaces and Netflix were really nice additions as was the farm shop voucher, goodies and Prosecco. We can’t fault the property or the service of Jude and Rob and will be back (if they’ll have us?). Location was perfect with bus route to Keswick and local hostelries warm and accommodating.

  • "We had a peaceful week in this lovely comfortable cottage, The welcome pack from the owners was a nice touch and we enjoyed the pasties and ice cream from the The Flock Inn just across the road."

Lots of walks from the door and a regular bus service to both Keswick and Buttermere means there is no reason to use the car. We would happily have stayed for longer and will hopefully be back.

  • "This is the best cottage we’ve stayed at in the UK so far!"

Very high standard, well kitted out, lovely welcome pack, great utility/drying room, awesome location right at head of lots of walking right from the front door. Amazing job - real privilege to spend a week in this beautiful part of the Lakes.

  • "Paradise found!"

Yew Tree Cottage is exceptional and so very special. The setting itself is perfect, the views are breath taking with numerous walks from the door, that with planning can incorporate both tearooms and pubs. The enclosed garden is a joy to sit in and take in the atmosphere that the Borrowdale Valley offers, peace and tranquillity. The cottage is so cosy and the utility room is a blessing if you take your four legged best friend with you for drying them down. Fabulous welcome hamper and dog treats too. I can honestly say that this is the best cottage that we've ever stayed in and it certainly raised the bar for any other cottages we may look at in the future and lastly, don't forget to look at the night sky!

  • "A beautiful traditional cottage set in stunning scenery."

There is a great choice of walks of all grades leading directly from the door. We found the interior comfy and welcoming. Having a husky the boot room was a welcome addition to towel down the dog and remove wet clothing to dry. The welcome pack and log burner were also much appreciated. Thanks.

  • "Had a lovely week staying at Yew Tree Cottage."

Very peaceful with lovely views. Very clean, warm and comfortable. Great beds. Nice log burner (would have been nice to have more logs supplied). Decor very tasteful. Utility/drying room really useful, although having the dishwasher away from the kitchen not great. Thank you for the welcome hamper - it was very nice and the xmas decorations looked lovely. Would happily return and recommend to others.

  • "Fabulous well maintained and well equipped cottage - felt very homely."

Fabulous location - walks galore from your doorstep and a pub up the road - and also right near a bus stop. Would definitely return. If you're looking for constructive feedback, the things we would note given the 4 star rating are: 1. Needs a bigger fridge - this is a cottage for 5 people - the fridge wasn't big enough for two of us. 2. Needs a DVD player. 3. Needs more than 3 loo rolls if more than 2 people are staying. 4. Needs a new frying pan. 5. Albeit the thought of a welcome pack was very much appreciated (and unexpected), we're vegan so having dairy milk and non-vegan products left for us wasn't great - just needs more consideration.

  • "This cottage is perfect - location and facilities were excellent with the best welcome pack ever."

We have already looked at booking for next year but are totally appalled by the price increase of about £500 for the same week ! Really? You will sadly upset customers who always holiday in the UK and that is why I will be reluctant to recommend you. So sad and disappointed.

Very thoughtful welcome pack, even towels left for dog.Road from Keswick needs to be taken with care, burst a tyre on rough stone kerbing avoiding a pothole. Only thing we felt was missing from the cottage was an outside table and chairs, there is only a bench.

  • "Booking process was very easy with Sykes."

I forgot to add the bed configuration on the booking so called to give this and the customer service lady couldn't have been more helpful. We had an amazing stay and felt very lucky to have secured 4 nights at a relatively late stage. Loved the welcome gifts. Cottage was very comfortable, beds were lovely (husband wants a new mattress at home now!), all very well equipped. The drying/boot room is an extremely handy space for storage. Great walks straight out of the door, very quiet at night apart from the owls. The garden is pretty dog secure as long as you have a dog that won't jump over an approx 4ft wall, we pulled the garden bench away from the wall so our hound wouldn't even consider it but if you have an escapologist for a dog then it might be a bit more tricky.
