Lovely clean, comfortable cottage.

Everything you need to spend a week away from home. Nestled in woodland, it was a little tricky to find but once there it’s such a lovely quiet setting. Close to Grange and within walking distance for those who are active, a short drive for anyone else. Would definitely stay again.

This was our second visit to Woodland Lodge and won't be our last , it is a lovely little lodge ideally situated for visiting anywhere in the Lakes and beyond very easily accessed from the M6 the lodge itself is very clean and is certainly home from home it has everything you need I would definately recommend staying here but please don't get so busy we can't get booked in for next time!

The accommodation was really comfortable and cosy.

It had everything we needed for our week's holiday & was spotlessly clean. It was close to the town of Grange Over Sands & there were many other places to visit around the area. We would thoroughly recommend this Lodge.

The property was beautifully appointed, comfortable and clean.

We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to staying again soon. A kitchen hand towel, couple of tablespoons, and small strainer would make it just right..And a clock! Jen.

Lovely lodge in great location: quiet and rural but within easy driving of Grange Over Sands, Cartmel and a Windermere.

Situated well for access to a Steam Train, boat trip or exploration of historic houses and gardens- we did all of these! Good restaurants and pubs for evening dining and a range of fabulous cafes for lunch, were also easily accessible. The lodge itself was comfortable and beautifully furnished with a gorgeous outside area. Will definitely be back.

A beautifully clean, modern, and welcoming peaceful place.

Everything needed for a relaxing break, information about surroundings and recommendations for places to visit and eateries were excellent. Ideally placed for travelling across the Lake District. We would recommend the lodge to anyone. Excellent!

Very quiet, comfortable, ideal base for exploring area, clean and tidy.

Perfect for a couple.

This is a very well specced lodge on a quiet site.

The furniture and fittings are of very good quality. There is a washing machine but we would have preferred a dish washer. We usually take week long breaks (and judging by the guest books so do others) so bring our dirty washing home. We had a spot of difficulty finding the place and had to ask at the nearby caravan site. I wish owners would give What3Words info to help pinpoint locations.

This property is probably the cleanest my wife and I have ever stayed in.

Everything about it was first class. We would certainly stay there again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in that area.

There was one dessert bowl that was chipped and another had a stain which we had to remove.

There was only one cake fork in the drawer. The light switch in the master bedroom does not work. The bed was extremely comfortable which we enjoyed as well as the peaceful position of the accommodation. For a couple of older people we found the settees a little low but still comfortable. We enjoyed an excellent holiday

Lovely location nice and quiet. Everywhere is within an half hour drive. Very clean.

I put out birdfood (which I have replaced) but the squirrel pinched it.

The biords do appreciate a regular supply of clean water though!

I have had many holiday cottages over the years and Woodland Lodge is right up with the best.

I loved the location in a forest halfway up a Cumbrian fell, incredibly quiet and peaceful. The furnishing and fittings were high quality and everything spotless.

Really lovely place, well looked after and maintained and in a great location.

Only anomaly was the bed - it was described in the listing as a “king size bedroom” which we thought would have a king size bed within it. It didn’t - only a double. Slightly misleading in describing a room big enough for a king size bed but then to not include one in it?! Otherwise a perfect holiday cottage.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the cottage, and were absolutely delighted with the choice we made, cottage is very well kept, good location, we wanted a bit of peace and quiet and we got it.

Wonderful week at woodland Lodge.

..clean,comfortable and lovely peaceful base to return to each evening and sitting outside for our evening meal and drinks. We were very lucky with the weather every day was glorious but even if we'd not had the weather the Lodge is a great place to be to explore the south lakes and all they have to offer.

The Cottage was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped.

A good base for touring in the south of the Lake District

The lodge is lovely and clean and very well equipped.

They also leave the essentials such as salt and pepper , fairy liquid, some tea and sugar which I think all owners should be told to leave in a holiday home . It is in an excellent location for visiting the southern parts of the Lake District especially the lovely Holker Hall and the very pretty village of Cartmel. It is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet and watch the wildlife. The Woodland Hotel is just two minutes walk away and serve evening meals. Unfortunately we had to leave early but we will certainly return in the future and will recommend to friends and family.

Lovely place to rest and relax, and a great base to explore from.

Spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable and every little detail had been thought of. One little thing; you can’t open any of the windows at the lodge, the double doors at the front do open wide and let the air in, but the bedroom was quite warm overnight, although there is a fan provided. Definitely not a negative, just an observation! I would 100% recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet place to sit back and relax!

The property was as described, of the upmost cleanliness and with all the facilities you would require.

The setting is magnificent. Sit back on the patio and watch the wildlife. You are encased in an ancient woodland, with nature surrounding you. Nice touch that the owner provides bird feeders and bird food, you just need to top them up and replenish and watch. It's location, location, location. So peaceful. If you want to relieve your stress and get away from the rigors of modern life, then this is exactly what the doctor would order!

Woodland Lodge rightly deserves it's perfect score.

The owners clearly want you to enjoy your stay, and this shines through from the moment you unlatch the little gate to enter. We found the location to be very peaceful and my wife loved the woodland decor both inside and outside the property. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, the towels and linen provided were smart and fresh. I agree with the principle of a good housekeeping deposit, to ensure the accommodation maintains it's high standard. We hope to return later in the year.

I worked in the travel industry my whole working life and always take a negative view from start to finish of the booking procedure through to information given, how accurate is it, property condition, back up services etc etc and have say with my mind set I found nothing whatsoever to find. The Lodge was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, information provided by Sykes was spot on, EXCELLENT in all phases. To explain I was a Partner/Director and travelled extensively around GB, Europe, North America and much more and beyond. Now retired my intention is to explore, see, sample more of our own HOMELANDS. No more Aircraft’, no more bland hotels, no more Airports! I started saying first time with Sykes and won’t be the last Please pass sincere thanks to your staff, owner and all others Thanks again

Absolutely beautiful place.

Very central for travelling to different places. Lovely comfortable accommodation. Everything we needed. Spotlessly clean,very cosy bed. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Nice to have the hotel on the doorstep.

A lovely cottage/lodge in peaceful location.

Clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. (I've never slept so well in a "strange" bed ever, and I used to travel lots with work). The location is ideal for touring the southern lakes and the coast with plenty of lovely walks in the area. I use the Walking World App but there are several in the info pack (pink sheets). Also very handy for the 2 minute through to The Woodland Hotel for a drink or to eat. We would definitely stay here again.......although I would like better weather next time.

We were out of the country straight after this stay and decided to stay off our phones for the duration of it. What else can I say apart from what a stunning property you have. The location is tremendous along with the uniqueness of the property. The furnishing of the place was second to none, especially the fantastic bed and shower! The place felt so airy and spacious it truly exceeded our expectations (which were high anyway!) Thank you so much again for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous holiday home. You have really ignited our passion for the lake district and we will definitely be back. A beautiful presented Logde set in a peaceful woodland position.

The lodge itself is well equipped with high quality furniture and all other things you need to make your stay enjoyable. Easy to reach many places of interest but do need own transport. Would fully recommend

Lovely cottage and nicely hidden from the world, good facilities and there was a nice selection of bits already supplied.

The only thing to note is that there is a water limit for hot water a day so if you like to shower late just be mindful of this. Overall a great stay for me and my partner, thank you!

Very pleased overall with the standard of the accommodation.

Only suggestions would be a cafetière, larger bath sheets and curtains in the bedroom as the light came in very early. Would definitely book again, great location.

Very clean and cosy. Everything was to a high standard. Loved the bed and bedding so comfortable, best nights sleep in a long time! Such a peaceful area with lovely walks from the doorstep. Especially loved walking onto Grange-Over-Sands for a stroll along the promenade. The owners have done a lovely job of making the cottage a home from home! Thankyou! Appreciated the bottle of wine also, enjoyed that in the garden while taking in our surroundings! Bliss. We will be back.

Excellent holiday home.

Very tasteful interior, high standard of cleanliness. Beautiful location and easy reach to all the Lake District. Nearby Grange over Sands a lovely town with restaurants shops etc. Bottle of wine left for our arrival was a nice touch! Would recommend to any couple seeking an ideal tranquil location.

The Woodland Lodge was presented exactly as the the images showed.

When does that happen? It was in immaculate condition and beautiful throughout. The attention to detail by our hosts were second to none and the facilities provided were above and beyond our expectations. The location of the lodge was in a quiet woodland area to the side of a main grand looking house. It was private and secluded, tucked away in a corner. During our 1 week stay we saw 1 or 2 couples in the area. Our hosts kindly allowed us to charge our electric car from their outside socket, though I could only get 2 volts (had to knock down the voltage to ensure I didn’t trip the lodge), it proves our hosts are happy to accommodate our wishes. Believe me, a lot of hosts wouldn’t allow this out of fear and the unknown of EV energy consumption (as an FYI, less than running a hot tub for a week or a Power Shower). Sorry, I digress, but the accommodation of our EV charging is worth noting as this was a big factor in our search for accommodation in the area. So even though it wasn’t “officially” listed as EV friendly, after asking during our initial enquiry, our hosts certainly were accommodating and I thank them for this. Look at me, I’m still digressing! Let me wrap up by saying our Woodland lodge stay has to be one of the best holidays we’ve had in this country for a very long time. It felt homely, modern and traditional. This is truly a “gem” to find and we will be recommending it to friends and family who choose to stay in the Lake District.

Grange over Sands was further away than we thought We hoped to be able to walk there but it was too far Everything else was excellent

Just back from a week at Woodland Lodge.

The standard and cleanliness of this lodge is outstanding. The decor is very light and modern, the bed is the most comfiest we have ever slept in, there’s a recliner sofa and a rocking chair, we were surrounded by home comforts. The kitchen is very well equipped, I took my own cleaning equipment (just in case!) but the place was spotless and had a cupboard full of stuff supplied for our use. The bathroom is gorgeous with plenty of hot water. The outside area is spacious with a table and chairs and a massive umbrella. The surrounding area is woodland and very peaceful. A walk into Grange on Sands is down a lovely track, about 2 miles, and has lovely views of Morecambe bay. Cartmell is also close, it’s a beautiful village with the racecourse in the centre, well worth a visit. We used the Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway (Steam train) with a boat ride to Ambleside included. Fell Foot Park was also another highlight. We also visited Grasmire and Keswick. All in all we had a lovely visit to the Lake District, knowing that our lovely welcoming Lodge was waiting for our return from a busy day out. We would recommend Woodland Lodge 100%.

Yes.

I have experienced one or two breaks with Sykes cottages, which have fallen below expectations. However, this cottage was everything we could have hoped for. Well equipped, immaculately clean, a lovely situation in the middle of the forest, and near enough to a small hotel if we wanted a bit of company. Because this was so nice, it has encouraged me to look again at Sykes cottages. Thank you to your company and to the owners of the cottage.

Fantastic stay!

Had all the amenities required, such a comfy and cosy place to come back to when you have been out for the day. Plenty of places to visit locally such as Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere etc. Locked out bikes away in the storage shed and didn’t have to worry about them. Would love to stay again!
