The property

A charming barn conversion on the owner’s working farm in the rural hamlet of Milton, just two miles from the bustling town of Brampton. Dove Cottage is the ideal destination for a couple wishing to spend some peaceful time together in the countryside.

The cottage is all on the ground floor and has been furnished throughout with comfort in mind.

The bedroom features quality bed linen and a comfortable bed with the next door bathroom having floor to ceiling tiles and a welcoming bath.

The open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen and dining table with plump sofas and a woodburner, making it nice and cosy to relax in front of at the end of the day.

French doors lead out to the enclosed garden, which is perfect for letting doggies out to stretch their legs, whilst enjoying some alfresco dining yourselves.

With plenty to see and do from the doorstep and some lovely countryside, you could end up being spoilt for choice.

Experience some local history and discover the Roman ruins at Birdoswald, Vindolanda and Housesteads or alternatively visit Thirlwall Castle for a day out.

For the more adventurous, why not take a trip to Talkin Tarn Country Park, for watersports such as canoeing and open water swimming as well as plenty of walking through the mature woodlands?

A little further afield are the stunning Northern Lakes, Eden Valley and the rugged Scottish Borders, all just waiting to be explored. Dove Cottage is perfectly positioned for those wishing to explore the Cumbrian countryside and beyond at any time of the year.

About the location

Brampton 2 miles; Hadrian's Wall 7 miles; Carlisle 11 miles.

The small rural village of Milton is ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, including not-to-be-missed Hadrian's Wall, the lovely coastline of the Solway Firth and the dramatic northern Lake District National Park. The nearby market town of Brampton has a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border raiders from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings. Bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton, which is now a shop. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 180 acres, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Further south is Gelt Woods which is an ancient woodland with the River Gelt running through. A superb base for exploring this historic and scenically beautiful area.
