Listing is exactly as described, kitchen well stocked (knocked up Christmas dinner with some additional roasting tins from home). Wonderful nearby dog walks at Gelt Woods and Talkin Tarn and Miltonrigg Woods. Friendly host on site. Highly recommended!

You get what you pay for.

Dove Cottage was very basic and needed some TLC. Patio doors are terrible, they don't close right. No decent lighting in the lounge/kitchen, it's either the big light or nothing. We took a lamp from the bedroom of an evening. Cushions would be nice for the sofa and chair. No baking tray in the kitchen, they aren't expensive! No guest book so absolutely zero information about the cottage (ie, the bins, what do we do upon leaving, etc) or the area. Other than that the bed was comfortable and the garden was good for the dogs.

Dove cottage needs things doing patio doors terrible to open no keep in lock windy one evening curtains blowing up off carpet see day light round entrance door and no were to put wet coats when you get wet would have been better having handles on bath different to get out if elderly light bulbs no working 3 in living room It’s a shame if these things get rectified would be ok It’s a shame because overall it’s a nice cottage

& some lovely memories to keep Such a comfortable little cottage, very quiet & peaceful. people are so friendly & its a lovely dog friendly, place lovely walks for dogs, lots of lovely places to eat that are also dog friendly. Would stay again.

It would be useful to know about recycling facilities.

The cottage was clean, well presented and comfortable, but some cleaning materials would have been useful to help us to leave the cottage in appropriate condition.

Perfect for exploring Cumbria, North Pennines and Northumberland. A lovely little enclosed garden for my dog with some good dog walks within a few minutes drive.

spent a lovely christmas here very cosy had everything we needed , kitchen well stocked with utensils etc ,bed was so comfy as was sofa ,lovely log fire ,yes some people moaned about french doors not locking but had bolts on so no problem for us , yes curtain tiebacks loose but again no problem for us , would we stay here again = yes definately had a lovely time have stayed before but in different cottage , great walks nearby for dogs talkin tarn ,couple wood walks ,brampton nearby can get everything you need coop ,spar ,takeaways ,10 out of 10 from us for cottage and area

Not the first time we have booked this for family and friends staying near us and certainly won't be the last.

! as it was tired looking wasn’t that clean and in need of maintenance/repairs. It had a very grubby rug in front of fire in the small sitting area which smelt, patio door lock not working (bolts fitted instead) curtain tie backs hanging from badly repaired holes, plates and mugs chipped, shower screen and shower hose dirty, electric cable hanging approx foot off ground on patio (isn’t this illegal?) no vacuum supplied and whilst a washing machine is no clothes airer supplied which with electric storage heaters makes it difficult to dry any washing! Photo’s were taken if required for viewing. Very disappointing and not what we expect or experienced from this Sykes rating so would NOT recommend.

Fantastic week, plenty of places for people to visit or like us relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

We had taken our dog with us and the enclosed garden was a treat. Some beautiful woodland walks, just two minutes away. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our cottage which had gorgeous views. As we had arrived in the middle of lambing season our hosts were obviously up at all hours but still had time for a chat and invited us to see the lambs.

We had a great long weekend, the location is great to travel to many places of interest, the cottage is the perfect size for two and had everything we needed.

We felt so cosy in the living room/kitchen with the wood burner roaring away on the cold dark nights. If you have a dog it’s very suitable, large garden, sensible flooring and parking right outside. Only a few minor improvements would make it perfect…. Larger fluffy towels, better water pressure in the shower, and either remove or properly fix all the curtain tie backs to the wall.

We had a lovely holiday at Dove Cottage.

It was a great place to relax and feel at home. Mabel and John are very friendly, helpful and hospitable owners. It's great location for visiting the lakes and the scenic North Cumbria countryside.

The large secure garden was a winner with our dogs too

Around the bath could have been nicer as the mastic was coming away etc.

. so I feel the bath needed redoing.

Beautiful little cottage in idyllic surroundings.

Very friendly welcome from owner . Appreciated the great little dog friendly garden and patio to use to sit in the sun . All amenities we needed throughout were very satisfactory. Just a couple of minor problems, the bath plug knob was broken but luckily the shower was fine and the bedroom window catches were not very secure. Also the TV screen had several black lines running from top to bottom.

We had a lovely stay, the owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area.

The cottage was cosy and a warming log fire. The plumbing in the bathroom could do with an upgrade.

A real home from home. Lovely owner was very helpful and generous, made my birthday very special. Set in a great location too near Hadrians Wall and the nice town of Brampton. Had everything there, very well thought out, a cosy warm cottage. Very peaceful, lovely to see the new born lambs too. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you very much for everything. We stayed at Dove cottage for our anniversary weekend and mother’s day.

We had a fab time weather was perfect. Our very old lab enjoyed the doors looking onto the garden and walking some of the way around Talkin Tarn and Lanercost Priory, which has a fabulous cafe, highly recommend it. We are looking forward to going back in May for a two week stay. Owner was very welcoming to us.

Lovely little cottage, perfect for people taking dogs on holiday, safe to let them out the car off the road and large secure garden to let them out.

Milton woods nearby to let dogs run free and good location to visit the Cumbrian area. Had everything I needed in the cottage for a comfortable stay.

We enjoyed out stay at Dove cottage very much.

The cottage is situated in very peaceful surroundings, is very well equipped, and feels like home from home. The garden at the rear of the property is completely enclosed, and perfect for our dog. Brampton is nice little town with all the facilities,please you could need, and is only a five minute drive away. Carlisle and Gretna Green are less than a 30 minute drive so easily accessible. We'd recommend Dove Cottage to anyone who's looking for a nice quiet getaway, and would be happy to return ourselves one day.

The only downside was that we could not connect to the internet properly.

The wifi was intermittent and for some bizarre reason when we were connected to the wifi it only seemed to be available to update Facebook and nothing else. That said, it is a lovely location. Whilst we were only a party of two and a dog, the courtyard setting of various accommodations would cater for much larger groups and we would consider returning as a larger family group over several cottages.

The directions are obviously designed for people from the South, not really helpful to anyone travelling from the North.

Large enclosed secure garden was a Godsend fir our lively labrador. Loved the wood burner too. Owner very friendly and on hand if we needed her. Have already recommended this property to my friends. Would definitely return

It is a nice little court yard of holiday cottages with good parking.

Dove cottage has a decent sized garden which our dog loved. It is south facing so we had the sun all day just right for a barbecue in the evening. We found it in a good area for walking the dog and getting out and about. The cottage is very cosy and the bed very comfortable.

Very clean, very well equipped and very comfortable. Perfect for a quiet break away from it all,but close enough to explore the sights in the area if you want to do more.

Owners are lovely,they meet you when you arrive and show you to your cottage, they explain everything to you which we found very helpful, very friendly, if you needed anything all you have to do is ask.

We can not wait to book again, very relaxing, very calm and like being home from home, we loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone. A*****

The cottage, on a working farm, is really comfortable.

Good location if you want peace. Not far from small town with good facilities, and bigger city of Carlisle. Very convenient for exploring the Roman Wall. Controllable heating, with wood burner stove for cosy evenings. There are several cottages around the courtyard and they have been nicely converted from the old red sandstone farm buildings. Well thought out and good finishings. Had everything we needed. Particularly like that it is pet friendly as we took our dog, but you wouldn't readily know that other dogs had been. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Highly recommend if you like a countryside location.

Cottage was very well equipped with kitchen utensils,pans etc.

Everything was clean & having the log burner made up ready to light was a nice surprise. Dogs loved the garden & had a great time. Only suggestion for improvement would be to try and move next doors hot tub so it's not near the cottages bedroom window. Not the best trying to get to sleep with the neighbours splashing about in it. Saying that it wouldn't stop us booking here again we had a great time.

Very quite location but lots to do all around.

Would recommend this place very helpful friendly people. The cottage was very clean had everything you could won’t, would recommend this cottage especially if you like walks, there are plenty. Dogs are very welcome which was a big bonus to us.

I had an excellent week, and would certainly consider staying here again.

A beautiful cottage owned by lovely people.

I can honestly say it was like home from home and was reluctant to come home. Everything you needed was there and clean and comfortable. A lovely spacious garden for our two dogs to be safe and secure whilst we relaxed. Location is ideal, quiet but central for days out. Would highly recommend this cottage along with the others that are there, depending on the size of your family.

Had a fantastic break at dove cottage, Mabel the owner is very friendly and gave us details for all local walks and shops she is lovely.

The home itself was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations, beautiful home and beautiful area for a fabulous break will definitely be booking again.

this cottage could do with providing a vacume cleaner, and the fence need some repair, before it blow over in the wind.

The cottage was just home from home ,good quality furnishings better than you’d expect for a holiday let , all that was needed was there and more .

Dove cottage provided every comfort we could have wished for. Well equipped, clean, warm and cosy, we were so impressed on arrival. Always hot water, good heating and very comfortable bed. Would happily return in future, and recommend to anyone who likes this area, or wants to explore a new place.

Beautiful cosy cottage with stunning country views from the large back garden.

. Everything needed was provided, bed very comfortable, bath very large and water always hot. Lovely log fire used everyday re being away in December, first logs free, then £4 for basket renewal. The owner Mable was very attentive and informative, and was always on hand if needed as she lives on the farm. Would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family

We have just returned from a great week at Dove cottage.

Such a lovely quaint cottage, very clean and furnished to a high standard. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners as were our dogs which was very important to us. We have already booked again for next year :)

Warm greeting from host.

Comfortable cottage with good bed etc. Very clean . How ever a few irritating things would have made this nice cottage perfect. Towels were very small. No hairdryer ( though there was an iron ___ who irons on holiday !! ) or tissues. No shower gel . Bathroom only had hand soap. Very limited cutlery . No welcome pack of milk etc on arrival . We had to head out and shop before we could have a cuppa as only tea bags and sugar in the cupboards. After. 6 hour journey tea would have been good. Nothing to make decent coffee in ( we went out and bought a cafetière). This sounds like a moan. It’s not. The cottage is lovely. Our holiday was not spoiled in any way by the anomalies . These are suggestions to make this a top notch place to stay.

What a wonderful restful retreat.

Excellent standard of furnishing, very clean and fully equipped including plenty of toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets! Owner very friendly and helpful - replaced broken sun umbrella the next day. Plenty of walks around the area and ideal for discovering the history of Hadrian's Wall. We will return!

The lady who owned the cottage was really friendly even before we travelled when confirming and answering queries we had about our stay.

The cottage was within an hour of the lakes and within a shorter distance to Northumberland. We are thinking about going back next year.

Great little barn conversion, we stayed here with a newborn and dog and there was plenty of room for us all.

Although only 1 bedroom, the bedroom was big enough for our travel cot and our bags on the floor without it feeling cramped. We did push the sofa back in the living space to allow us more space to put the dog bed in front of the fire. The kitchen had most things we needed, dishwasher tablets and are provided. There’s also a big microwave, something we now look for due to sterilesing bottles. The garden is brilliant, nice and big and because we were treated to the arrival of some sun for our 2 day stay we even got to enjoy the garden as well. It has amazing views over the fields.

Wouldn’t hesitate recommending this cottage to anyone.

It was comfortable, clean, modern and everything you need is catered for. The owner was very friendly and informative. Lovely walks not too far away and the fact that it was dog friendly was a bonus for us.

Lovely cottage, had got everything you needed and was in a great location for exploring the area, our 2 dogs loved the outside garden and hubby enjoyed the hot tub over the christmas period.

We brought our spaniel with us who absolutely loved running around in the large enclosed garden. This cottage would also be perfect for people who don't have dogs too, it was warm and inviting, we had such a brilliant week!
