The property

This charming, stone-built, semi-detached barn conversion is one of seven on the owner’s working farm, in the rural hamlet of Milton, just two miles from the bustling market town of Brampton.

The Hayloft is bright and cheerful with a thoughtfully-designed interior, ideal for a small family or a group of friends in need of a break away to a rural retreat, excellently situated for exploring the Scottish Borders, Northern Lakes and the Pennines.

Inside this lovely property, both bedrooms boast en-suite shower facilities, with one being a luxurious king-size double, perfect for the adults, and the other a twin, ideal for the children.

Downstairs you’ll find a cosy sitting room, complete with a three piece suite, an electric fire and French doors opening onto a patio area, a great spot to sit and enjoy a good book and a glass of something cool.

The modern fitted kitchen with dining area comes equipped with all you need to prepare a celebratory family dinner, whilst a cloakroom completes the downstairs of the splendid cottage.

With plenty to see and do from the doorstep, why not experience some local history and discover the Roman ruins at Birdoswald, Vindolanda and Housesteads?

Alternatively, visit Thirlwall Castle and beautiful Talkin Tarn, for watersports and wonderful walks.

A little further afield are the stunning Northern Lakes, Eden Valley and the rugged Scottish Borders, all just waiting to be explored.

No matter what time of year you decide to holiday, The Hayloft is perfectly positioned for those wishing to explore the Cumbrian countryside and beyond.

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border raiders from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
