About the location

WETHERAL

Carlisle 5.3 miles.

The village of Wetheral lies five miles from Carlisle in the north of Cumbria. With great transport links, Wetheral has a quaint village green and is overlooked by a restaurant, pub, village shop and tearooms, along with the Crown Hotel. A short steep walk takes you past the church and remains of the abbey to the River Eden. To the east, the 19th century viaduct towers above the river with some of the best salmon fishing in the country. Further along the river you can view a wonderful waterfall from Corby Castle, and woodland walks lead to the remains of the caves used in the 14th century.
