Woodman Cottage

Got back a couple of days ago and we are sad to be back home.

The day we arrived it was my partners birthday. I spoke with Peter about sorting a hamper for him as a surprise when we got there. To say I was pleased with what he did for us is an understatement! We were very happy with the accommodation. It was very clean, comforting, peaceful. Just what we needed. I would also recommend the pub across the road, absolutely amazing food! We hope to come back in the future!

We had an amazing stay at Woodman’s Cottage we have stayed previously and were so excited to go back and it didn’t disappoint.

Peter is such a great host offering everything you need from the initial booking stage right throughout. Comfy beds, cosy living room large kitchen and all very clean. Hot Tub is a bonus. There is a pub opposite which is very welcoming and does great pub grub you can also take dogs inside. It’s only a short drive to Morecombe and Lancaster, but Overton is a lovely country village if you want the peace and quiet. Overall we had a wonderful relaxing stay and can’t wait to visit again Thanks Emily,Wes and Twinkle (our English Bulldog ) x

We’ve just returned from a wonderful week at the cottage and honestly didn’t want to leave!

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The cottage is beautifully decorated to such a high standard, while still feeling incredibly cosy and welcoming. It’s in a fantastic location and the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hot tub was definitely a highlight for us — there’s nothing better than relaxing in it in the evening after a day out. It made our stay feel like a real treat.

We sent a family on respite and they had an amazing time agh the property.

We had a wonderful stay at this superb cottage.

As a family of four (plus the dog!), we found it incredibly spacious. Unlike many traditional cottages that can feel cramped with low ceilings, this one is bright, airy, and offers plenty of room for everyone to relax comfortably. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals, although we were equally tempted by The Ship pub directly across the road. The food was excellent, great value for money, and well worth a visit. The bedrooms were lovely, with exceptionally comfortable beds that guaranteed a great night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless, modern, and featured a fantastic power shower, which was a real treat after a day out exploring. The location is perfect, with beautiful countryside walks right on the doorstep, making it ideal for dog owners. It's also a great base for visiting Morecambe, Blackpool, and the Lake District, all within easy reach. We were lucky enough to enjoy glorious weather during our stay, which made the experience even better. The garden was lovely and the hot tub was a real highlight, with plenty of space for four adults to enjoy comfortably. Now for my favourite feature... the EV charger! As an electric vehicle owner, planning trips around public charging points is often a challenge. Having the ability to charge overnight at the cottage and simply pay for what you use was absolutely brilliant. It made travelling completely stress-free and was a huge bonus for us. Finally, Pete was an outstanding host. He was incredibly responsive, friendly, and happy to help with any questions we had. Nothing was too much trouble. Overall, this is one of the best holiday cottages we've stayed in. Whether you're travelling as a family, with friends, or bringing your dog along, I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough. We would return in a heartbeat!

The property is as good as it looks in the pictures!

The bed sheets and bedding were really comfortable and impeccably clean. The beds were large and we slept great. The hot tub is large, in perfect condition and lovely. It easily accommodated our family of 4 with loads of room to spare. It is maintained every morning, with the owner being very discrete, yet reassuring if anything were needed. The kitchen is gorgeous and had everything we needed. The lounge has character, the TV has loads of options to view what is already on there, or log in temporarily yourself. The WiFi is fast and uninterrupted. The immediate area is rural and well suited to travel to the lakes in around 40 minutes, Blackpool in 40 minutes and across into the Yorkshire dales similarly. There is a local beach, a 5 minute drive away, great for dog walking, but not really a swimming venue. All in all, it’s a great location to explore the north east and not feel confined in the Lake District (which can feel overcrowded at times) So, our conclusion is…. We would happily return and confidently recommend it to others.

Fab cottage.

Very Clean, comfy, lovely decor. Hot tub excellent and the enclosed private garden was Lovely to spend time in. The village was beautiful and we enjoyed dog walks in immediate vicinity of the cottage. Owners were very helpful and pleasant, keeping in contact and even called and offered us an early check in which was so nice Will be back!

We have just returned home after a very enjoyable and relaxing break at Woodman Cottage.

Peter our host couldn’t do enough for us before and during our stay. He suggested beaches to visit for kite flying and places to eat nearby. The cottage is situated in the heart of a lovely farming village and is the perfect escape from the busy city life. It has everything you could possibly need for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday. There is very private garden, with nice outdoor furniture and a hot tub. The enclosed garden was safe and secure for our dog which is very important to us. The cottage was spotlessly clean and has modern fixtures and fittings. The kitchen and diner is very well equipped with the bonus of a utility/ WC downstairs. The lounge was cosy and looks out onto Main Street with a dog friendly pub opposite which was handy for a couple of evening meals for us. Upstairs the two bedrooms had everything you could want with robes and slippers and a hairdryer. The modern bathroom was lovely too with a large freestanding shower. For such an old cottage everything inside and out was modern and up to date. If you like walking, beaches, seaside towns, and a City all within a couple of minutes; Woodman cottage is perfect. There aren’t any shops in the village but there is an honesty box where you can get all the essentials. We stocked up on bread, Milk and eggs from the chickens running around outside. Our break was just perfect. Thank you.

First of all I would like to mention the host Peter , he is a brilliant host from start to finish .

Made us feel very welcome from the first day . The property was very clean , had everything you needed . Set in a beautiful setting with plenty of walks and a very good pub right across the road that serves excellent food and drink . We can't praise this place enough .

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful holiday cottage.

The house itself is spotless, cosy, and set in such a stunning area — the perfect place to relax. Peter went above and beyond for us throughout our stay. It was my gran’s birthday, and he helped us organise a special surprise that meant the world to our family. He made sure we had absolutely everything we needed and checked in so kindly without ever being intrusive. You can really tell how much care goes into this place. We couldn’t have asked for a better host or a better stay.

Lovely cottage, renovated to a high standard, comfortable, cosy, and super clean, with everything we needed and more!

Small private garden, and fab hot tub! Great walks from the property to Sunderland point, and Bazil point, with amazing views. Good bus service to Morecambe and Heysham from the village if you don't want to use the car, and a pub across the road with good food. Thankyou Peter, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again in the future.

This is my third time staying at Woodman Cottage.

Having stayed here in winter and summer time, I can say that It is very comfortable and cosy in the winter with its log burner and central heating and the ancient stone walls keep it cool on hot summer days. The cottage is well appointed, with quality fixtures and fittings. There is a utility room and handy WC off the kitchen. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal but if you don't want to I can fully recommend the meals at The Ship just over the road, eat there or have it delivered to the cottage. It's very friendly. There is good wifi and a smart TV, comfy sofa and chair in the snug lounge. The beds are very comfortable with cool cotton linen and lovely towels. The huge walk in shower is perfect. Outside there is off road parking, an enclosed, well maintained private garden and a hot tub if you fancy! Already booked another week for the end of summer. Your hosts Peter and Tracy are friendly and helpful and live locally.

Woodman cottage as every bit as good as the listing promised.

Superb quality and cleanliness throughout the property - it's got everything you need. The garden is a delight to spend time in and very private. Hot tub is a nice feature too. The village is very nice and a quiet relaxing place to spend time. Credit goes to The Ship which provides a friendly, great place to spend time with the family for food and drinks. We all really enjoyed our stay here and it was nice to see Peter the owner on the last morning who does a very discreet job of keeping the property in excellent shape. We just have to decide which week to book next. Having booked property through Sykes and Menai over the last 17 years Woodman Cottage is very much at the top of the list as a great place to stay.

The property is lovely and clean and it has everything could possibly need. The addition of the hot tub is great! Has a lovely large kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms were lovely and spacious. The wood man's cottage was very well equipped with everything you need or may need, it was very clean comfortable and cosy, and is situated in a lovely little village where the locals are very friendly we enjoyed our stay very much.

A beautifully presented cottage with thoughtful touches throughout, this stay felt effortless from the moment we arrived.

Every detail had been clearly considered, from the layout to the information provided before and during the visit. The property is extremely well maintained, and the hot tub was spotless and carefully looked after. A perfect for unwinding at the end of each day. The setting is ideal for anyone wanting to switch off and step away from the noise of everyday life. We brought our dogs, the area and cottage was perfect for them with scenic walks started right from the door. The village and both pubs were very accommodating for dogs and offered a friendly atmosphere. The one closest to the cottage served hearty, comforting meals. A special thanks to Paul, who checked in to make sure everything was running smoothly and being available if needed, yet never intruding on the stay. Overall this cottage is a fantastic place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a slower pace.

The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard.

We spent 4 nights there and could not fault it. Peter, the owner, is a lovely guy who came by every day (discreetly) to check on hot tub and outdoor bits. He is always willing to help with any issues. Lovely pub over the road, really good food. Enclosed garden for dog a bonus, it’s a very dog friendly place. We will be back. Thanks

A lovely Easter break in a beautiful setting.

Everything was spotless, and we really enjoyed unwinding in the hot tub before cosy evenings by the log burner. Set in a charming village with fantastic countryside walks and a delightful honesty shop; such a peaceful and relaxing stay

Had an amazing week at Woodman Cottage.

The information from the minute we booked till we left was efficient and helpful allowing us to plan for the week. A lot of places say they are dog friendly but Woodman Cottage has this right- hot paw wash, towels, etc. Great location with lovely walks from the doorstep with plenty of places a short drive away to visit. The Ship- food was lovely, staff very friendly and again your can take the pups. Hot tub well maintained and a cosy bonus at the end of a walk. Highly recommend and we would definitely come back.

The accommodation was clean and pleasant.

The kitchen was well equipped so cooking on boxing day for six people was easy. The heating was responsive and reliable and the beds were very comfortable. The dogs were truly welcome therefore I would have no hesitation in booking again in the summer.

Fantastic accommodation, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.

We enjoyed every one of the 6 days there as it's very cosy and relaxing. Excellent facilities with modern appliances. We would definitely recommend this cottage if anyone wishes to explore this part of the UK. We also enjoyed reading some of the history behind the local village(s) in the booklets and photographs which are in the cottage. The local people are really friendly too. The nearest pub is 16 yards away!!!

This was my second visit and wow this place is just amazing and I will be booking my third visit asap.

Peter is the most amazing host he was actually on holiday on my stay but still messaged to make sure I was settled and to see if everything was ok he literally goes above and beyond.the ship inn over the road from the cottage does amazing food and very good atmosphere and friendly people wish I could give more than 5 stars ⭐️

The enclosed garden is lovely and the superb hot tub was appreciated after days out. Plenty to see in the area - Heysham is lovely, Morcambe is a must and Lancaster and it's prison tour is fascinating. Both pubs in the village are lovely, we were made to feel very welcome in both. The food in the Ship is outstanding - don't miss the Sunday lunch ! Peter, the owner is lovely. He lives locally and is very friendly, welcoming and informative about the area and the cottage The off-road parking area is great. All in all a fantastic week, so thankyou Peter. Angela and John.

Absolutely wonderful cottage, We went for a week and it was a lovely week away.

There is plenty to do around. The cottage is finished to a very high standard it had all the amenities needed with the extra touches of robes and slippers provided. The hot tub is a perfect touch, it’s brilliant size and perfect for our family. Peter is amazing his knowledge is brilliant and he made us all feel very welcoming and comfortable. Came everyday to check the hot tub and was only down the road or a phone call away if we needed anything. Can’t wait to come back to the ‘nice house’ as our little one kept calling it

Had a great week at Woodman Cottage.

The property inside is kept to a very high standard, well furnished and a well equipped kitchen. The enclosed garden is also really nice and private, we were fortunate to have nice weather, the patio area is a bit of a sun trap. The hot tub is superb, also kept to a very high standard by the owner Peter. He popped in discretely ever day to check chemicals. I did manage to have a chat one day and he’s a lovely guy, told me all about the area, places to visit and the history of the cottage. The pub across the road is super too, the food is outstanding. All in all a great property and I would highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed if you book here

Immaculate property with everything you need and more.

Hot tub was a huge success with grandchildren. Peter the owner was just down the road if we needed anything. The pub literally across the road was very friendly and the food was great and reasonable prices.

It was immaculately clean and the robes and slippers were a thoughtful addition. The hot tub was great and we were lucky with the weather so could make use of the lovely patio garden. The cottage was perfectly located to visit the coast, Nth Yorkshire and the lakes! I would highly recommend

The cottage was well located for ourselves and our dog. The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped and we appreciated the addition of the hot tub in the garden. You provided great advice about local dog walks and other places to visit. A very dog friendly area! The local pub served a fantastic Sunday dinner. We were lucky to have wonderful weather for most of the stay but it was no hardship to spend a quiet day or two relaxing in the cottage. It was good to have onsite parking. Good WiFi reception. I would highly recommend this property.

Excellent cottage all round .

Couldn’t fault a thing. Hot tub super and checked every day by host Peter. Peter is very informative and gave us great advice about local attractions, dog walks and about pubs in village etc. This cottage would be my first choice if returning to the area. Superb!!

Amazing cottage, beautiful inside and out.

Hot tub thoroughly helped ease any aches and pains whilst enjoying the sunshine. Equipped with everything you could need. Comfy bed, lovely bedding. Great base for travelling around. Great pub in village, closed Mon and Tues, with excellent freshly cooked food. Lovely plant nursery in village. Will book again, our cocker Spaniel Jess, felt at home the minute we arrived, as did we. Peter, the owner, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. No problems whatsoever, I would say the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Thank you for allowing us to stay at Woodman Cottage.

We enjoyed a really lovely stay at Woodmans Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and tasteful decor, the beautiful garden and the hot tub.

The small village of Overton is delightful to explore, especially with four-legged friends, and the local pub has a good varied menu and is also doggy friendly! Just got back from a wonderful stay at woodman cottage, Peter was welcoming and very accommodating to our stay, giving us recommendations and being on hand should we have needed him throughout.

The cottage itself is stunning, with clearly a huge amount of money and care invested in every aspect of it, we found it extremely homely and very well equipped. Thank you Peter for allowing us to stay at Woodman Cottage, it’s given us memories that will stay with us forever.

The pub across the road serves fantastic food at very reasonable prices but worth noting it does close Mondays and Tuesdays, some beautiful walks around the cottage, the cottage is also a short drive to Morecambe bay and the lakes are only 40 mins away so a great base for exploring. This cottage is fantastic.

The attention to detail in the design is to a very high standard and the layout and furnishings are perfect. Beds are comfortable and the garden is so nice to enjoy whilst lapping up the sunshine. We were so lucky with the weather for the time of the year and enjoyed sitting out relaxing after our days out. The owners Peter and Tracy are so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Peter’s knowledge of the village history and advice on things to do and places to visit in the surrounding area was very helpful and interesting. The Ship Hotel over the road is so convenient and is fantastic for food. The staff and villagers were so friendly every time we went in. The village itself is so nice and has another pub The Globe near The Sunderland Point Causeway. We only used the car once whilst in Overton as an hourly bus service (we used three times) got us to Carnforth, Morecambe and with one change Lancaster. Really enjoyed our stay and looking forward to returning next year. Susan and Trevor

We had an amazing break at Woodman Cottage.

Even before our stay Peter was in touch with all the info we needed which was a nice touch. We stay in many Sykes Cottages and I have to say this is one of the best ever. Very Modern and clean and had everything we needed. The pub over the road is fantastic for food reasonably priced and huge portions the staff were lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for Peter would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break away from home.

Hot tub is massive, really great for having a chillout. Also the pub opposite the cottage does really good pub food, locals were friendly and we had a couple of good nights in there

We enjoyed a few day's in this lovely cottage with my grandchildren.

Plenty of walks and a short drive into Heysham, Morecambe and Lancaster. We visited Happy Mount Park and Williamson Park. The cottage was spotless with everything we needed. Just across the road is a lovely little pub with very good pub grub. The hot tub was an added bonus. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay we will be back soon.

This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in.

The cottage itself is without fault and perfectly decorated and furnished to the highest standard. The private parking is great and you can fit two cars without any issue. I would suggest contacting Peter on arrival to get advice on where to visit; we went to Kirkby Lonsdale which is a beautiful market town half an hours drive away, and Morecambe beach. Lovely walks if you don't want to drive. The hot tub is without doubt the star of the show 38 degrees. I would say the Golden Ball Hotel/Pub on the river road is well worth a visit but be aware of the tides unless you want a lock-in. Also visit the local superstores for supplies approx 10 mins away as there is no local shop in the village. Finally this cottage is outstanding, thanks Peter, see you next year!!

A lovely property.

We had rhe most relaxing week in a cottage that had everything we needed. Great communication from the owner. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Woodmsn Cottage for 5 nights and found it a great base for exploring the local area.

The cottage was spotless and is maintained to a very high standard. The village is lovely with a pub just across the road serving tasty home cooked food with friendly & helpful staff (not open on Mondays & Tuesdays unfortunately).The cottage owner was extremely helpful & communication was clear, thorough & useful in helping us to plan our trip. His attention to detail was obvious and we really appreciated the effort that has clearly gone in to ensuring the perfect stay.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Woodman Cottage, the cottage was beautiful, very comfortable a home from home, with a real attention to detail.

We all loved the hot tub and our doggies hardly moved from the logburner. Peter made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of ideas on what to do in the area, thank you

We’ve just returned from spending a relaxing week at this amazing cottage.

We’ve stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this one is definitely up there amongst the best. The property has been renovated to a high standard and is fully equipped with everything you could need. The hot tub is an added bonus. What really sets this property apart from those we’ve previously stayed in though are the owners. Right from the initial booking, communication from Peter was brilliant, with all the information on the cottage and the surrounding area provided up front. Any questions we had were promptly answered and Peter and Tracy were perfect hosts throughout our stay. We received a warm friendly welcome from everyone we met in the village, and we would particularly recommend a visit to the Ship Hotel across the road.

We had a lovely stay at New Year in this property which has been renovated to a high standard.

The woodburner and hot tub made it a bit more special. The car park to then side end enclosed garden also made us feel safe with our dog who was made extremely welcome and I’m sure he loved the outdoor warm water tap! Communication with Peter was brilliant and the whole community was very friendly. We met a lot of locals on our dog walks and in the handy pub across the road. Lots of dog walks from the door too - just perfect. If you are thinking about booking just do it.

The property was beautiful and had everything you needed for a four night luxury stay.

The Christmas tree was the icing on the cake for us. We had a wonderful time with relatives and it was nice to come ‘home’ to such a lovely cottage to relax in the evening. 5 stars from us.

What a lovely stay we had at Woodman Cottage!

! Peter is a great host with excellent communication. The cottage has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cleaning standards are extremely high, which I loved! We enjoyed the hot tub on the days when the weather wasn't too horrendous! We used the wood burning fire daily to keep us toasty! The bed was very comfortable too. The only suggestions I could make is perhaps a foot stool in the lounge, and a dark blind in the front bedroom, otherwise, the facilities are excellent with high quality finishes. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this cottage for your stay!

Great little extras like warm hose to clean the pups paws and towels too. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And would highly recommend staying here. Definitely want to return in the future! Home from home.

Stunning cottage with everything that you could possibly need. Warm and cosy with those little touches. High quality througout. Opposite a pub which does amazing food. Not far from Heysham, Morcombe. Lancaster and the Lakes. Short drive to a dog friendly beach. Would highly recommend and we will definately be back. Thank you to Peter for the lovely stay.

Absolutely perfect.

The cottage has everything you need for your stay - very comfortable beds, cosy lounge with log burner and smart TV, well laid out kitchen and a super hot tub. Plenty of walks to take my little dog with a public footpath just across the road from the cottage. We felt quite at home and were sorry to leave. Peter, the owner gave us great tips for eating out and places to visit. We went to the Ship across the road twice and the food was amazing. Also The Archers cafe which was very busy! The history of the cottage and the village was very interesting. We definitely hope to return soon.

A lovely cottage in a quiet area.

Peter, the owner is very helpful if anything is needed and lots of useful information is provided about the local area. Would fully recommend for a peaceful and relaxing stay with plenty of easy to reach places to visit too.

WOW WOW WOW What an amazing cottage, nothing has been left to chance.

Nothing is too much trouble for the owners who are a phone call away should you need them. From the minute you make your booking you are kept informed about your arrival, from directions to the cottage to how to gain access to the cottage, and where everything is once in the cottage. Local knowledge from Peter the owner and areas to visit whilst on your stay. Extra touches included pods for the washing machine, pods for the dishwasher, towels for the bathroom and seperate ones for the hot tub. Dog towels and shower so no muddy dogs in the cottage. Basically it is home from home with all the mod cons. Log burner for those winter breaks and fully central heated. The hot tub was a bonus we were never out of it, kept at 38 degrees so you could enjoy anytime of the day. Pub just across the road Ship Inn serves wonderful down to earth food and drink at reasonable prices, there is the Globe pub further up the village but we didn't venture into it. Beautiful property.

The cottage was spotlessly clean. Fittings and fixtures to a very high standard. The hot tub was divine and the beds super comfy. I had no issues whatsoever aside stubbing my toe on the step to the downstairs cloakroom (my fault!). Communication with the owner was very good and I would certainly stay again. I have also recommended it to friends and family.

We had a lovely 5 night stay at the cottage recently and were very impressed.

Extremely homely and with all essentials provided. Hot tub was amazing and the pub directly opposite was both friendly and provided meals to a high standard. We'll definitely return.

We’ve just left from our stay at woodman’s cottage and the stay was amazing.

The cottage is beautifully furnished with super comfortable beds and the biggest hot tub we’ve ever used. The pub is a 10 second walk from the cottage which does really great food and drinks with a great beer garden however you wouldn’t even know it is there as there was never any noise. Peter was great and pointed us in the direction of some great walks and restraunts. We will deffo will return as there is so much more to do! Thanks again.

We absolutely loved staying at Woodmans cottage.

We were pleased to have found a holiday where there was a hot tub that also looked clean and stylish as well as being able to take our small dog with us. Woodmans cottage totally exceeded our expectations. The property has been thoughtfully renovated to feel modern yet keep the charm and character. Small personal touches about the history and local information provided were interesting and we were given plenty of ideas of places to visit. We immediately felt relaxed and comfortable and the garden is beautiful to sit and enjoy We had everything we needed and the owner, Peter, went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. He provided fans when the weather was very hot without us even having to ask. Peter was friendly and available if needed without being intrusive. The village is small and quiet, the pub just across the road serves delicious food and has friendly staff and a Lovely atmosphere. The pub was not noisy or disruptive to us in the cottage or the garden and we would definitely recommend eating there. Horses ride through the village, which the children enjoyed seeing. There is a play park for primary age and younger children. We absolutely recommend Woodman cottage!

The whole cottage has been fully renovated throughout to a really high standard with tasteful, modern decor and attention to detail.

A lot of time and effort has clearly gone into making the Woodman cottage a perfect staycation destination. I particularly liked the kitchen/dining room for feeling spacious and bright, and the bathroom with a large walk in shower. The warm water from the outside hosepipe to wash the dogs is a nice touch too. Every little thing has been thought of, from providing washing tablets for the washing machine, to a Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen. It was nice to have towels provided both for the bathroom and the hot tub. Communication from Peter (the owner) was spot on, ensuring our stay was as enjoyable as possible. The hot tub is bigger than ones I've been in before and it was lovely to relax in it in an evening. The cottage is situated in a quiet village on the outskirts of Morecombe. It's location is good for exploring the surrounding areas. We would definitely return. Thank you Peter.
