Perfect for our mountain biking trip. So cosy & warm, great location and really comfortable cottage. Thank you!

  • "Overall we had a loverly stay at the cottage."

Was nicely tucked away, quiet and brilliant that you could just walk out the door straight to the most wonderful walks with the dog. The down side was the sofas in the lounge should have been replaced a long time ago! They had completely collapsed and were not comfortable at all… just when you needed to relax after a walk there was no comfort at all! It was such a shame as the cottage was so lovely! Although logs had been left for the fire there was no kindling! So could not make a fire until we sourced kindling for ourselves! Again a shame as we had not really planned to use the car once we had parked up.

  • "Really enjoyable stay at this cottage."

The weather wasn't our friend during the week but was lovely to come back to a warm, cosy and well equipped house. Friendly neighbours and welcoming community that we enjoyed meeting in the local pub. The property is a little remote which suited us perfectly, with wonderful walks from the front door. Would highly recommend.

  • "Beautiful cottage and very well maintained, beautifully decorated and spotless."

Listing should include that access is through the neighbours garden as this was not clear when we booked, it would have also been helpful to know the property is very remote. As this was an issue for us, some people love this, we did not like being so far from local shop, pub was walking distance but closed, again maybe comment to check opening hrs for local amenities.. The cottage is also very dark as set in a very a little valley surrounded by tress. Brook at bottom of garden beautiful but mosquitoes an issue .. pretty little garden

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you found the property to be beautiful and well maintained. We will take a look at the listing and ensure that the information provided is correct. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage that was really well presented with good facilities and clear instructions how to use things."

We will be looking to come back to the Lake District and this lovely cottage will be very much in our considerations. If the owners want to look at anything, the outside light for the key box seemed to come on a lot which we got used to later in the week but got us up to investigate a couple of times.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased to hear that you had a lovely stay. We take all comments on board. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was AMAZING."

But… Be careful to ensure you go into no.2 Bobbin Beck Cottage & not no.1. The gentleman next door is not very friendly & you have to walk past his front door & through a small gate to get to the rental cottage. He kindly left dog poo for us to step over just on his side of the gate & snapped at us for using the wrong bin. I would make the entrance instructions clearer about it being the second property, e.g. once you walk through the gate, you need to pass his house & go though a second one. He doesn’t take kindly to you approaching his house.

  • "This is a very nice cottage, and we enjoyed our stay."

There were wild birds in the garden, deer in the woods opposite and a heron fished in the beck. Lovely, but a little too far off the beaten track for us. It’s a winding, narrow six-mile drive to the nearest shop. We were a little concerned that the central heating had not been switched on prior to our arrival and this made the bedrooms very cold on our first night. However, once this was rectified, the cottage warmed up quickly and was very comfortable thereafter. The beck is delightful but the drop into it from the garden is quite steep in places and our dog had to be carefully supervised after a fall. Although it is cited in the cottage description as a 'babbling brook', we discovered that the beck can turn into a raging torrent after 12 hours of heavy Lake District rain. Even adults need to be careful when this is the case. All in all, a lovely place to stay.

Would highly recommend this cottage. Tip - if you want a meal out go to the Manor pub - food was top notch but booking advised as it was busy even in the off season.

It’s remote location is great if you want peace and quiet but make sure you take everything you need because the nearest shops are a good drive away. The cottage has everything you’ll need, comfy beds, warm showers, dishwasher, google speaker for you music, beautiful garden and friendly neighbours. People mentioned the fly issue and yes there are flies but we found that if we kept the door shut in the early evening they didn’t come in. Beautiful place, beautiful area, we loved it. Thank you

We alerted Sykes to the situation at day 2 and 4. Although we were offered an alternative property on day 4 we decided to stay and not have the hassle of booking and paying for another cottage and getting a refund on the rest of our stay at Bobbin Beck. We had 1 functional log burner which kept us warm and allowed us to cook (kitchen log burner not drawing for some reason). We had our own head torches. Ones at the cottage had low / no batteries. Despite this the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed our stay. The owner kindly agreed to reimburse us for extra fuel used for log burner. Neighbour also very friendly and helpful. Great walks from the cottage, really lovely stay. Would definitely visit again

The property

Most tranquilly situated by a babbling brook, this traditional Lakeland country cottage could be lifted from a picture book.

Tucked away in a green and peaceful valley between the celebrated lakes of Coniston Water and Windermere, we're sure you will instantly fall in love with Bobbin Beck Cottage and its pretty garden next to the river. The outer old-world charm of this picturesque Satterthwaite cottage extends to the interior, where you will be transported to an earlier age by the rugged slate-flagged flooring.

Exposed stonework, wooden lintels, oak furnishings, and beams in the comfortable bedrooms all combine to give you that true Lakeland cottage experience. The hamlet of Force Forge, on the fringes of the forest of Grizedale, is gloriously isolated, and yet still only a short stroll from a village pub, the Eagle's Head at Satterthwaite.

There is nothing more welcome than a pint here, some food, or one of the regular gigs of live music after a day exploring the walking trails of the beautiful forest, taking on the nearby Go Ape adventure course, or climbing the high peaks of the Lake District round about. With wood-burning stoves in the living-room and the country dining kitchen, you will always be cosy, even when the winter snows are falling about the cottage, and on fine days, the little garden, with its patio and stone stairway leading down to the river, is the perfect place to sit out and soak in the peace and fresh air of this idyllic corner of Lakeland. Bobbin Beck Cottage will become your homely sanctuary and we think its the ideal place to spend your special holiday with Lakelovers.

To the north, Grizedale Forest is an intriguing network of walking routes, cycle paths and sculpture trails. Lake Windermere lies to the east, and a car-ferry crossing can take you across the lake to explore the lively attractions of Bowness village.
