  • "We had a fabulous stay at Bobbin Beck cottage - a very cosy, well appointed cottage with lots of thoughtful touches from the owners."

Christmas decorations added to our festive few days away, and even the weather was kind!

  • "We arrived after Storm Arwen and had no electricity for 4 days."

We alerted Sykes to the situation at day 2 and 4. Although we were offered an alternative property on day 4 we decided to stay and not have the hassle of booking and paying for another cottage and getting a refund on the rest of our stay at Bobbin Beck. We had 1 functional log burner which kept us warm and allowed us to cook (kitchen log burner not drawing for some reason). We had our own head torches. Ones at the cottage had low / no batteries. Despite this the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed our stay. The owner kindly agreed to reimburse us for extra fuel used for log burner. Neighbour also very friendly and helpful. Great walks from the cottage, really lovely stay. Would definitely visit again

  • "Loved the cottage but one or two little niggles The internet worked fine until Wednesday and then kept dropping out, annoying as we were using it for communication as there is no mobile service The description re parking was a little misleading - had to cross over the road and a bridge to get to parking space."

Also not easy to park anywhere to load and unload car - just grateful it wasn't raining.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage, done up to a high standard, comfortable and well equipped."

Loved the beck at the bottom of the garden and pretty waterfalls just a few yards upstream. Only minor inconvenience was having to park in a layby across the bridge and walk through the neighbour,s garden to get to the cottage, fortunately he was very friendly!

  • "The cottage was superb - spotlessly clean / warm / well equipped / cosy / the list goes on."

In a remote location - didn’t bother us but worth thinking about if you want to walk to a pub / restaurant.

  • "Loved the remoteness of the cottage, gets you away from the crowds."

The beck at the bottom of the garden is beautiful to sit and enjoy!

  • "Lovely cottage in a good location but please get the fly infestation sorted out."

There has clearly been a problem there for sometime judging by the cans of fly spray kept under the sink!

  • "The location of the property was a bit remote which was exactly what we were looking for and the property itself was just amazing."

It was so well equipped and clean. Home from home! Absolutely loved it. Thank you Lakelovers ❤.

The property

Most tranquilly situated by a babbling brook, this traditional Lakeland country cottage could be lifted from a picture book.

Tucked away in a green and peaceful valley between the celebrated lakes of Coniston Water and Windermere, we're sure you will instantly fall in love with Bobbin Beck Cottage and its pretty garden next to the river. The outer old-world charm of this picturesque Satterthwaite cottage extends to the interior, where you will be transported to an earlier age by the rugged slate-flagged flooring.

Exposed stonework, wooden lintels, oak furnishings, and beams in the comfortable bedrooms all combine to give you that true Lakeland cottage experience. The hamlet of Force Forge, on the fringes of the forest of Grizedale, is gloriously isolated, and yet still only a short stroll from a village pub, the Eagle's Head at Satterthwaite.

There is nothing more welcome than a pint here, some food, or one of the regular gigs of live music after a day exploring the walking trails of the beautiful forest, taking on the nearby Go Ape adventure course, or climbing the high peaks of the Lake District round about. With wood-burning stoves in the living-room and the country dining kitchen, you will always be cosy, even when the winter snows are falling about the cottage, and on fine days, the little garden, with its patio and stone stairway leading down to the river, is the perfect place to sit out and soak in the peace and fresh air of this idyllic corner of Lakeland. Bobbin Beck Cottage will become your homely sanctuary and we think its the ideal place to spend your special holiday with Lakelovers.
