"We had a Monday to Friday stay and chose this cottage due to price, location to Scafell Pike and availability."
The cottage was fine indeed. The welcome pack was a pint of milk and there was some tea, coffee, sugar in the cupboard on arrival. It was May so we didn't use the fire or heating, the house was warm enough. The beds and showers were good. We didn't see any dirt etc but we don't go looking for it. Parking was on the main road but our little Corsa was fine where it was. Information on bin collection days would be great as we arrived to an overflowing bin. By chance i was outside mid-week when the bin men arrived so that cleared that up. I found the tv difficult to use as the remote for it has no markings on some of the buttons and i couldn't remember what button did what (mainly for accessing streaming services). There's no local shop with the nearest shop being The Coop in Seascale (about 3 miles away) which was a doddle to get to by car and has a Chinese takeaway, a pizza takeaway and pharmacy opposite it. The village bakery, we used once and did a nice bacon butty. We didn't try the village pubs. The cottage had enough utensils etc for the 2 of us. The towels and bedding were lovely and the towels were large enough to go around my big waist! The loft bedroom was quite warm due to the great weather of the week but my wife absolutely loved the big bed. Parking at Wasdale head for getting up Scafell was £9.50 for the day by coins but you can pay by card in the NT office when its open. There's also toilets and a water bottle filling station at the car park place. Signs were easy to follow and if not, there's enough people bobbing up and down Scafell to track. We even met a very fit lady who cycled from Gosforth regularly to then get up and down Scafell to litter pick it! Back to the cottage; overall we would stay here again for sure as everything we did use in the cottage worked fine for us.

"A beautiful cottage which we would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay around the Gosforth area."
Well situated with all amenities within close proximity. The Western Lakes and beautiful sandy beaches are all within a handful of miles from the cottage. The cottage is exceptionally clean, comfortable and warm. This was our second stay at the cottage and didn't disappoint. The owner clearly takes great pride in ensuring that your stay is everything that you would want it to be. A cottage not to be missed.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, John. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your second stay at the cottage and truly appreciate you choosing Wainwright once again. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

"We had a wonderful few days in Wainwright Cottage."
It was the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area including climbing Scafell Pike. The cottage is cosy and clean and well maintained, only downside is that the single bed is very creaky and soft and I think would be more suited to a child than an adult. Also my son didn't really feel comfortable with leaving his car out on the road infront of the property as it is actually quite a busy road heading out to Wasdale head. However this was easily rectified by loading/offloading out front and then parking free of charge in the community car park in the village which was just a short walk away. Gosforth village is a lovely, quiet village with good local amenities and we did sample food delivered from the lion and the lamb pub which was very nice. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wainwright cottage and would highly recommend.
Thank you for your feedback Penelope - we appreciate the comment about the single bed and therefore, have replaced it with a new one (from today) so thank you for highlighting this. We understand the road outside the cottage is potentially busier during the peak season and I'm glad you found an alternative parking however, directly outside the property is totally fine to park as all locals do the same along that stretch of road.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the property and indeed Gosforth is a lovely place to stay with everything you need local to the property, not to mention the spectacular views and walks right on your doorstep.

"The best cottage we have ever stayed at in the Lake District and we've stayed in many over the last 30 years or so."
The cottage was immaculately clean, witrh all the main appliances easy to use i.e. central heating system, cooker and shower. The cottage is of a very high specification throughout and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage to other visitors to the Lake Didtrict. We would definately book again when visiting the Western Lakes.
Thank you for your kind feedback, it really does make a difference. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our lovely cottage and look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to the Western Lakes.

"Have absolutely no criticism about the property, it is well finished and maintained, it is perfectly located for an ascent up Scafel pike, local shops offer enough for a short stay, we only stayed for a weekend and are already considering a return for a full weeks holiday, if any thing I would say that the property is understated on the website and the reality of it far exceeds expectations."
Thank you for your review and kind feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future should you choose Wainwright Cottage.

"Lovely, clean , comfortable cottage with good facilities and an enclosed garden - very useful with children."
There were one or two games as well for them to play with. There were sightseeing places to go very near to the village where we were staying. Muncaster Castle with an Owlerie and birds of prey, beautiful grounds etc. Also there was a Ravenglass steam railway and museum , and of course the pretty and quiet Seascale Beach which was ideal . Altogether a good little holiday with plenty to do and we would definitely recommend the cottage.
Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your stay in our cottage.
