  • "My friend and I really needed a short break so I booked Craggy View."

    We are both so glad that I did because the house is exactly as shown, in fact in reality it is better than the photos. It was perfect for our needs of chatting, short walks, peace and crafting. The large dining table in the sunroom was excellent with natural light allowing us to spend hours absorbed in hobby and enjoying our home cooked food made in the kitchen which is superbly stocked with a multitude of utensils, crockery, pans and more. My little dog loved legging it around the beautifully tended garden which is secure enough for even teacup sized dogs. My little one is a 7.5kg, 13 year old Shorkie and a quick perimeter check proved the owner is conscious of ensuring the property is well maintained. My friend and I both have disabilities and found the bungalow was perfect for us. Walking to the town is a low gradient and mostly flat taking us just 15 minutes and I'm a slow walker. The owner left clear instructions where everything is, a full list of phone numbers should they be needed (even the local vets number)., plus information of places to visit, the pubs and more. The welcome pack left in the kitchen was so thoughtful and very kind, it is touches like all the above which makes you feel valued as a guest and want to return. I have already sent links to Craggy View to other friends and my closet friend who enjoyed the break with me agreed that we will definitely be returning next year. I feel this will become my home from home. I love the atmosphere of Staveley and Craggy View is the most perfect retreat to enjoy it from. Thank you Hazel from Gaynor, Vanessa and Missy.

  • "Great property!"

    Really clean which is very important. Beautiful garden which my 2 year old loved and watching the trains go by! Lovely welcome pack. And lovely and dog friendly. Beautiful dining room with great views. Well maintained. Comfortable and welcoming. We've already said, we'd happy come back here year after year as our little ones grow. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Highly recommended. :)

  • "Lovely well kept holiday home."

    It was so welcoming when we arrived as Storm Amy was starting. It provided a safe & welcoming place with a lovely welcome pack & lots of comfort.. Everyone enjoyed their visit & Staveley village was only a 5 minute walk away. Wilf's was great for breakfast & the Eagle & Child pub was close by to. Less than 10 minutes by car was Plumgarths farm shop with butchers, bakery & cafe ( dogs allowed outside but not inside). We all had a lovely time during a family Golden Wedding Anniversary weekend & hope to return.

    Lovely quiet location but just a short distance from a local pub and short car, train or bus journey to explore the beautiful Lake District. Hugely impressed with the accommodation and how spacious and airy it was, from the welcome basket and small toiletries, to a games cupboard annd smart tv, everything was well thought out! An enjoyable stay and we’ll definitely return again! Thank you, the best one we’ve stayed in so far through Sykes.

  • "A well equipped, welcoming home in a beautiful little village with good facilities with a village pub, butchers, bakery and more Sitting in the gorgeous conservatory with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine looking out over the well kept garden and beautiful view was so relaxing."

    The welcome pack was so well considered and even included dog treats. We’ve stayed in many homes both abroad and in the UK and Craggy View is one of the best equipped and catered to our every need. The host has thought of everything including a folder with not just local information but lots of detail including how to use the home equipment and find emergency information about the home, such as the water stop tap etc. The home is in a perfect place to enjoy the lakes and the coast, and whilst there’s plenty of walking straight from the village there’s also really good links from the village by train or public buses. Would definitely stop at this home again, would recommend it to others, we did not want to go home. Excellent find !!

  • "Lovely cottage, good location."

    Great for using bus and train. Garden is secure for dogs, only issue is maybe a lock for both gates. The gardener just walked in whilst ours was in garden. Thankfully he realised she was there and got the gate shut in time. But otherwise excellent stay

  • "Very convenient location."

    Well maintained and equipped. Excellent views from the conservatory of the rear garden and the hill. All necessary amenities were provided. The only downside was a very small en suit bathroom. However, I would highly recommend this accommodation for a family holiday.

  • "This is my second visit in just over 3 months I visited with friends in April and had a great time so came back with my partner and dogs and we all loved it."

    The property is lovely and clean and comfortable with everything you could need also a lovely welcome basket that's a nice treat, the location is great in the village and just a short distance from Windermere, Bowness or Kendal.   • "Lovely bungalow, not a single thing missing."

    Beds very comfortable. Short walk into the village. Ate at the pub twice and had a chippy takeaway - all really tasty. My moan would be with Sykes - check in time 3pm, which annoys me as the first day is wasted, this was changed during Covid to allow for an “extra” clean. I was a bit miffed to have a list of instructions on how to leave the property as clean as I found it, eg empty dishwasher, strip beds if required. Im quite prepared to leave the property like it’s been lived in for four days, I’m on holiday

  • "Craggy View is absolutely superb."

    The bungalow is spacious with a gorgeous conservatory and huge modern tv in the main separate living room. In terms of crockery, cutlery and kitchen/household bits and bobs, it is the best we’ve ever seen and this is our 20th Sykes cottage in the last 6 years! We normally bring a straight pint glass, large mugs, dish cloths etc as they are not always provided, but Craggy View has everything, and a lovely welcome pack of goodies and toiletries. The location is cracking being close to the train station and walkable to the village amenities which are excellent. The garden is massive, well maintained and secure for dogs. Overall, a brilliant property, thank you.

    Lovely little bungalow with a very nice Conservatory/Kitchen - We had a fantastic weekend in this very cosy little home - Was very clean and tidy with loads of kitchen extras - Garden was huge and great for dogs, being very secure and also handy for train spotters :o) - Location is very handy for the train station, literally a minute away from the Oxenhome/Windermere line as well as the local pub, The Eagle and child, which was very popular and had amazing food - if you ask nicely, they might let you use the upstairs room which is lovely - Ten Wagging tails of of ten

  • "Fantastic place to stay, clean and tidy, very spacious and well kept."

    Only slight thing I would say is everything was provided like pots, pans and plates etc and even a dishwasher - but no cleaning supplies. (we were on a motorcycle so difficult to bring our own) but absolutely fantastic nonetheless. Thanks!!
