"Beautiful location and a lovely cottage well equipped we really enjoyed our stay and lovely to be so close to the sheep !"
Only recommendation is that we were told there was a TV connection but there was no signal on either TV and I would also recommend that the cleaners check the bathroom bins as ours had stuff in when we arrived
Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay and the sheep!

"Although the property was a little dates the location was perfect for peace and quiet although the weather did affect our stay."
We did have a problem with the TV but after contacting your office this was resolved but as we have to activate the on button on the reverse of the TV each time we watched it there should have been instructions to this effect. Also the pop-up plug in the bathroom should be repaired not just a temporary plug available otherwise we enjoyed our time and the local pub food went down well especially the Horse and Farrier Threlkeld Sunday lunch

"Dated in many places."
Kitchen knives for example - how old! Sky box and TV very out dated. Should have a smart TV these days so people can log on to Netflix on the wet days if they choose to do so. Also, yes it was a wet July, but the cottage is cold and feels damp. Clothes coming out of the wardrobe in the main bedroom felt damp. Gaps between window frames in living must make it very draughty in windy days. Great remote location if that’s what you want. Plenty of walks from the door and great bus service at the end of the lane to Keswick, or Grasmere and on to Ambleside and Windermere. Overall, decent, but needs some TLC

"The cottage is lovely in a great location for walking and the added bonus of a field of lambs to keep us entertained."
The cottage is comfortably furnished and suitably equipped. We would happily return here. The only (very slight) gripe is having to buy washing up liquid and extra loo rolls as only one was provided per bathroom, which seems a bit stingy.
Thank you for your comments, we are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay, and the lambs!
Items such as washing up liquid are not always provided as the property is self catering. The toilet rolls provided are left as a starting point.
We hope to welcome you again.

"We enjoyed our stay at Thirlmere cottage especially the walks from the door."
Our first impression was of disappointment that there wasnt even a single teabag, milk or any form of welcome at all, nothing.
In every cottage we have ever stayed in there has been a wide variety of things like scones ,coffee or biscuits, flowers etc. and when you have travelled a distance its a lovely touch. This lack of welcome was penny pinching.
The steep steps in the master bedroom meant we couldnt sleep in there as I couldnt manage them.I am not disabled nor do I have arthritis etc they were just too high.Consequently we had to sleep in the bedroom with the twin beds. In the details these beds were said to be twins by default and could be ziplinked if asked in advance. They were already made up together and covered in quite shockingly poor bedding. The duvet was probably 3 feet longer than the bed.The beds were worn out and and very uncomfortable.
I would probably have returned to this cottage if the bed had been better . I can live with the very thin bedroom curtains and non opening louge windows, and the difficult to operate tv with its 4 remote controls, or even the freezer that was full of ice, but not the poor sleep.
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
Not all properties leave a welcome pack or any gifts for guests.
We take all comments on board. We do find beds and mattresses to be down to personal preference.

"We were.absolutely blown away by this cozy cottage, we loved how secluded it was but yet close to shops and pubs."
I can’t even speak highly enough about the magnificent surroundings, the peaks, the lake it’s breathtaking! Cottage was fully stocked with kitchenware, books, puzzles and some board games. Cottage was very clean and tidy, Wifi, tv and dvd worked great, we brought with us couple of movies to watch, and kitchen appliances and radiators were easy to use. Would recommend to anyone who loves being away from The hustle of busy tourist village or town in Lake District.
Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Thirlmere Cottage.

"Everything was lovely."
Views were spectacular and easy distance to amenities.
Only downside was that the fireplace had not been cleaned out and no wood or matches for our arrival.
Also the hoover made the whole place smell of wet dog when we used it. Might be worth putting in new bags after use in dog friendly cottage.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the views. We take all comments on board and will look into this. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

"Stunning location and fabulous cottage."
Bathroom had some grout missing on tiles. Would of been nice to have starter pack for fire and few dvds for player. However that did not spoil our break we loved the cottage which was very clean and well equipped. Definitely would return. Enclosed garden great for our dog too!
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear to that you enjoyed your stay at Thirlmere Cottage. We will pass on your comments regarding the grout in the bathroom to our Maintenance team to look into. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

"We had a two week stay, place is beautiful, cozy, heating is excellent and easily controlled, WiFi worked perfectly, views and walks from the door excellent, didn't want to leave, only issues as others have commented on."
...kitchen utensils are dreadful, toaster is from a dolls house! Nothing fits in it! One rubbish frying pan with loose handle, every knive including peelers, blunt. We had to buy equipment. No welcome pack even for two weeks, no scourers for washing up, binoculars broken, shown in photo, just needs some tlc.

"Great location - plenty of walks from the door, beautiful views from the living room."
Great kitchen and dining space. Comfortable beds. Cosy front room.
The cottage could do with some modernisation, the main bathroom is dated, alongside many of the furnishings and light fittings throughout the property. The kitchen would benefit from additional equipment i.e. there’s only one frying pan, no blender and knives need sharpening. As there’s no utility room, cleaning our dog after a muddy walk was challenging - we had to make use of the bathroom sink, not ideal. Some complimentary fire wood for the fire would have been a nice touch, akin to many other Lakelover cottages

"I stunning cottage in the most amazing location I really wished I owned it , it is such a chilled out place and a walkers heaven , internet worked great , but couldn’t get washing machine to work but that may well of been us being not used to that machine , really clean everywhere in the cottage ,and very comfortable double bed , I would only say one down thing and that is the open fire blows smoke back into the room a lot , and would really benefit a log burning stove , but a heating really works well so this is a very minor gripe , and I seriously recommend this idyllic cottage and hope to go back again someday."

"The cottage itself is nice my only complaints is that there were cobwebs in most of the rooms and dust
I had to clean the living room windows myself as there were hand prints on the glass."
.the cleaner needs to be shown how to clean properly..don’t think they ever dust given the size of the cobwebs..I have taken photos but can’t upload them on here
Also when we removed the duvet covers and pillow cases at the end of our stay there were a few stains aside from these few things we still enjoyed our stay

"The cottage was beautiful, we loved every minute of our stay and didn't want to leave , the location and the scenery is amazing, so peaceful and relaxing ."
The cottage was very clean in every part but we did notice that the cleaners had missed cobwebs behind the curtains where the TV wires are and around the windows in the kitchen and the bottom of the shower screen was green ! A minor thing i know but did kind of let it down a bit , having said that we would love to stay again at some point .

"We found the cottage to be extremely comfortable and well equipt."
Also the location is stunning and very convenient for Grasmere. In terms of kitchen facilities, it would have been handy to also find salt and pepper in the mills and mills that actually worked. Also there were no ice cube trays in the freezer. Both these things would normally be standard.
However, Lakelovers HQ and the local housekeeper were very prompt in resolving the issues we had with the kettle, the missing bath mat and also the ice cube trays! These items delivered on the same day as we contacted the office was very impressive!
Finally, we knew that there was no Wi-Fi or signal at this cottage but actually this proved to be a bit of a pain in this day and age. As the neighbouring cottages obviously have a signal, it seems that this would be an easy upgrade to make.

"If you are looking for a place to switch off, this is it!"
Nestled at the bottom of Helvellyan and Borrowdale on the edge of Thirlmere the scenery from the cottage is just beautiful in every direction.
The cottage is warm, cosy and welcoming but kitchen equipment is a little lacking and the bare minimum (milk drawer in fridge missing) but still a great kitchen and it had everything we needed to cook in each night (we didn’t want to leave the cottage it was so nice).
There is no phone signal at all or wifi so you really are cut off - we loved it but others might not.
Only little niggle is the front door, it’s a Yale lock with a glass panel so didn’t feel to secure and we were paranoid about locking ourselves out.
We’ve booked this cottage twice now (Summer and Winter) and we will be booking again we loved it so much.

"As previous reviews mentioned, some TLC is required; i."
E. broken fridge door, kettle lid catch broken, no TV signal - the latter 2 issues reported to Lakelovers during our stay.
That said, it's a beautiful property in a stunning location which met our expectations. Not everyone's cup of tea; no internet or phone signal (thank you to a previous review, who highlighted this, so we went prepared). It hasn't prevented us from making another booking later this year.

"As other reviews highlight there are broken items still in the property such as fridge door, glasses, pots, etc."
Property delivered what we expected so cant complain, so much potential and so many little things could be improved in terms of location (perfect) and value for money (perfect) cannot grumble. Please can you update the description on your website to explicitly tell people it does not have Wi-fi internet to the property and you also cannot get phone signal. We luckily saw this from another review and so took lots of DVD's but in this day and age it does cause inconvenience if you don't know about it in advance. It would not put us off, instead it could make it more attractive. All-in-all very nice property with picturesque walks on the doorstep.

"Great cottage, lovely location, very cosy."
just a pity that previous occupants have not treated the property with the respect it deserves. Please inform the owner that we found the following things need attention:
Broken cafetiere, two cracked wine glasses, fridge door shelf broken, full vacuum bag left in lounge. Property not as clean as it could be (we definitely left it cleaner).
Having said this, we were very happy with the property overall and will give it a top score on Trip Advisor (without the above comments because of the current unusual circumstances).
Could we have better weather next time please?
