Fantastic house with plenty of space for large groups.

Well-equipped kitchen and utility room, ample bathroom space with plenty of towels. We appreciated the two living rooms, and games room. The majority of the house remained cool during the heatwave. Large garden with plenty of interest. Useful parking at the back of the house, although it was quite tight driving in. Perfect location to enjoy all that the Lake District has to offer.

An absolutely fantastic house, everything you need and such a good space for large families.

Penny Bridge House was fabulous!

It had everything that we needed to make our stay really comfortable. Unlike other rentals it genuinely felt like a home away from home, with comfortable beds and bedding, lovely bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen. We were also left a generous welcome package which was greatly appreciated. The house is full of character and I hope that we get to return in the future.

It was in a fantastic location for walking and was close to Windermere. The story behind the house is wonderful as well. We were a group of friends and loved what you have done with the property. The décor is 10/10 and a dream for anyone who appreciates beautiful interiors. The amount of space isn’t advertised well enough, we were genuinely shocked by how large it was, both inside and out. We couldn’t fault anything and would definitely return.

Great stay at Penny Bridge House.

We are a party of 13 age ranging between 4-78 +2 dogs. On arrival we had a welcome package & even a treat for the dogs. This house has everything you will need, all appliances are of a very high quality. There’s plenty of rooms if you required some quiet time. Extremely comfortable beds. Would highly recommend this property.

This property is absolutely beautiful - very large so we all had plenty of space, so well equipped and decorated, had everything and anything we could have wished for.

Plus really comfy beds! The owners were very communicative and provided a lot of information about the house and surrounding area. The house is very well placed for exploring the heart of the Lake District and the coast. Would highly recommend for a large group!

From the moment we arrived, everything was just perfect.

The instructions were detailed and the property was extremely clean. There was ample parking and the little extras (bubbles and dog biscuits and toy) were a lovely touch. All of our party (10 people) agreed that the beds were so comfortable - day 1 proved this with most of our party sleeping in very late! The showers were very powerful and there were enough bathrooms for everyone to enjoy their own space! The games room was very well received for our teens and older members alike! This is a perfect getaway for friends and family to meet up from across the country, Superb facilities and plenty of space for all to enjoy.

Perfect location too for days out in the Lake District. With a large secure garden at the rear the house is very well suited for dogs. Ample gated private parking area.at the rear of the house, and a nice welcome pack waiting for us on arrival was a nice touch. Let’s just say everything is well thought out to make your stay extra special.

Everything was perfect. Beds were so comfy we checked the labels on the bedding & on the way home my son bought the quilt & pillows ! House was lovely clean, warm, & great power showers. Perfect for a large group. Lovely garden.

What an amazing house with all the rooms and bathrooms being well sized and nicely decorated.

We had the most wonderful week and the best family Christmas ever. The kitchen-dining area was a special place for the big Christmas Eve and day dinners and had all the accessories. Nearby was the games room being our breakaway entertainment corner for old and young. The two lounges with Christmas trees (lovely touch) were great and helped with one of the biggest collections of presents I have ever seen. Two TVs and a good log burner to chill out and relax. As a family holiday, we could not have asked for more. We had the best time and will certainly be back. We loved it.

Incredible house, absolutely accommodated 11 of us, all adults.

Very clean and comfy, stylish and warm. This house is amazing for large families looking for a break together playing games (Pool, Darts, Cards). Plenty of room in the day between the upstairs living room, downstairs living room, kitchen/Diner and Games Room. Me and my family highly recommend this house. Thanks again x

Had a wonderful week at Penny Bridge House.

Plenty of space for a party of 10. Comfortable, well equipped and super clean. Lots to do in the area. Owner was available for any issues. The driveway is pretty tight to access if you have a large car. That is the only thing we needed to be aware of.

This was a great house for our group of 3 families.

Plenty of space for us all to be together and the two living rooms and games room meant the teenagers and parents could have their own socialising space too. We were also lucky enough with the weather one night to be able to sit outside for dinner. The owners provide a comprehensive guide book for the house and local area which was helpful. The house was very clean and decorated to a high standard. Overall it worked really well for our group and we’d happily come back again.

Perfect for family get togethers and enough space to have some peace and quiet if needed. The beds were so comfortable and the whole house was extremely clean. The games room is a bonus and kept the boys entertained! Lots of boxed games are provided together with outdoor games. We had a stunning week weather wise and so many hours were spent outside in the lovely garden. Thank you so much!

We HIGHLY recommend checking it out! We had an amazing stay at Penny Bridge House with the family. On arrival there was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us, even a little treat for the dogs, this was a lovely gesture. The house was immaculate. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The house is very spacious, including 2 sitting rooms, large bedrooms with en-suites, beautiful bathrooms, a games room and a large secure garden and lots of parking. We loved our stay at PBH and cannot wait to return in the future for another family break. Thank you for providing a lovely home for the family to enjoy.

Wonderful holiday house for an extended family with young children and a dog.

Lots of bedrooms and living space, very well equipped including electric plug in for e-car. Garden is lovely and outdoor games were provided for the children. Very thoughtful welcome pack too. We would definitely go back there. Thank you

Excellent house and location but two minor annoyances.

Firstly, a 10am check out is too early. If you are renting a house of that size there will naturally be a lot of people, likely a lot of kids, and therefore a lot of tidying, organising and packing to do. A relaxing weekend was slightly undermined by a very stressful morning. Sec

Absolutely beautiful!

We’ve had such a fantastic weekend here with our whole family. Even with the house full it still felt like we had plenty of room. Well equipped house with everything you need and more. Comfort, quality & cleanliness 10/10 We received a very nice welcome pack of local favourites! Even the dogs got a welcome gift. The garden is dreamy and perfect for good weather. If you are considering booking, don’t sit on the fence - BOOK IT! You will not be disappointed!

What an amazing stay we had in such a beautiful house.

There was a welcome pack waiting for us on our arrival which was a lovely gesture from the owners. The house was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space to relax in. In each living room there was a large TV which meant there were no arguments about what to watch on Xmas day! The games room provided hours of entertainment, and unlike many houses we have stayed in, it was warm and comfortable. The beds and duvets were very snuggly, perfect for lazing in and reading a good book. The garden was dog friendly, with little chance of our enthusiastic springer escaping! There are different levels in the house, but our 87 and 82 year old mothers coped pretty well. We would highly recommend this property and we are looking forward to visiting again next year

Facilities excellent

Penny Bridge House is a beautiful house and full of stunning character and incredibly quirky.

I would highly recommend the house as a great location with some small local shops and beautiful pub (Britannia Inn). Ulverston is only a 5 min drive and a lovely little town with lots to do including walks. Thanks to the owners of Penny Bridge House for a fantastic 4 nights away with 12 of us for a family 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Brilliant stay with friends for a 30th birthday.

The house was in immaculate condition, with a welcome basket for us and the dog! Lovely, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. The first floor sitting room was great for an evening hang out with access to the garden too. The garden was secure for the dog and there was plenty of parking. Neighbours are quite close by so you have to be mindful of those going in the garden in the evening and noise. We didn’t explore the immediate local area, but we did take a trip to Scafell pike and completed a circular walk from Elterwater (highly reccommend) which were both easy enough to get to from Penny Bridge. If we come to the lakes again we would 100% stay at Penny Bridge again.

A brilliant weekend had with friends at this beautiful house.

Every detail was thought of and the generous welcome pack on arrival set the tone for the weekend. The house is huge, with plenty of space for big groups and the games room was a winner. Perfect for time away with family or a group of friends - we loved it and hope to be back in the near future

The house had everything you could think of and it was very thoughtful with the provision of a welcome hamper to include dog treats etc.

We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, lots of secured outdoor space for the dog to run round in as well as a fab games room too. The beds were very comfortable and everything was spotless. Amazing bathrooms and beautiful decor. Everything was explained in the handy guidebook and plenty of facilities a short distance away

A well appointed and comfortable house.

Great facilities. Excellent for a family get together. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space, good car parking and a great location for exploring the Lake District. Will definitely return and recommend.

A lovely quirky clean house.

Well equipped great kitchen and dining room.. the games room was good for all. Two comfy lounges, great garden for the dogs and children. Good choice of bedrooms. The Britannia pub a few doors down has friendly staff and allows dogs. I would recommend booking it serves great food Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday shuts Monday and Tuesday drinks only on a Wednesday.

Overall a great holiday and the accommodation was super, plenty of space, well resourced, clean & tidy.

The games room with pool table & dart board was an added bonus.

It's a big old house with wonky staircases, but it was exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The back garden and parking were great. Windermere and Coniston lakes are only 20 minutes drive away, and it's a good base for touring round the rest of the Lake District. Recommended.

The house is gorgeous, even more incredible than the photos! It was so clean and well equipped. Plenty of room, there was 11 of us with our dogs and we all had enough space. The games room is great and the kitchen is stunning! We’re planning to come back again next year and already can’t wait!

Close to the lake for safe swimming/water activities for children,

A wonderful base for a big family get together, this beautiful property exceeded all expectations and made the weekend a memorable one.

The layout and decor made it feel very special and the comfy beds were appreciated by all! The facilities were second to none, my brother in law (a professional chef) fell in love with the kitchen and prepared some amazing meals during our stay there. The games room was also a big hit with the younger ones, giving us all space to break out comfortably into the communal rooms. A truly wonderful property, I would have no hesitation in recommending it as a place to make special memories...thank you!!

Absolutely loved our stay, kitchen was extremely well equipped, bathrooms were stunning with an amazing bath and showers.

The garden area was vast and stunning, with lots of outdoor facilities, we did have to clean the bbq before we used it though which isn't the end of the world. The area is beautiful and local for lovely days out. My only complaint and the reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the house is not really suitable for 4 couples plus the twins, two of the doubles are extremely small and the beds were just too small you could not fit two people comfortably in them at all. The two kingsize rooms were amazing for the couples that stayed in them one with a beautiful ensuite. The hosts were very efficient and responded to our two queries immediately. Thank for a lovely time.

Great family holiday home with fantastic views and local scenery.

The house was perfect for our extended family and catered well for the dogs & kids too. The owners have thought of everything inc providing cots, high chair, dog bowls & extensive range of family games for indoors & outdoors. Very clean and well looked after, I would definitely recommend to others.

We really appreciated the attention to detail, very well equipped kitchen. Decorated and furnished beautifully throughout. Great garden and own parking all good. We had a lovely time and would also recommend the Brittania Pub just a few doors away, lovely people, great food. The Manor Restaurant at Oxon Park and the scrumptious breakfasts, bread and cakes at Bakehouse Born and Bread Cafe in Greenodd. We would definitely stay again.

Penny bridge House is absolutely beautiful, gorgeous, homely and wonderful.

It is so spacious, clean, lovely linens on the beds, kitchen so well equipped, the games room is great fun for all ages. Having the lovely pub about 75 yards away was also a plus and they take dogs. I would recommend this property to anyone. Thank you Alice and the other owners Sue

Just had the best time at Penny Bridge House.

We were a party of 10 adults and 3 dogs. We could not fault the property it had everything we needed and more. Was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with plenty of outdoor space for the dogs. The welcome pack for us and the dogs was a lovely touch. Would definitely come back, thank you.

It’s the perfect house for a big group getaway, every room is beautifully decorated & the beds are so comfy, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook, the games room was amazing for keeping everyone entertained & both living rooms were so cosy it made us not want to leave! Couldn’t recommend it more & we can’t wait to come back.

We stayed at Penny Bridge House as a group of three families - ten adults, two children and two dogs.

We were all delighted with first impressions, the house has clearly been recently renovated to a very high standard. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the downstairs lounge, which was also a good space for entertaining the twins in the early hours! The kitchen was brand new and very well-equipped with everything needed (just a minor point that we were missing a few spoons and a measuring jug). All the bedrooms were beautiful and we particularly enjoyed the comfy beds and linen. The family bathroom was so luxurious and the kids loved bathtime in the ‘big pink bath’. We normally stay in more rural properties but thought we’d try something a bit different this year. The house is only a few doors down from the local pub, and a short walk from Greenodd (which was a bit hard to navigate at first as it’s in two sections) and we fell in love with the Bakehouse cafe there. We also found it really easy to get to all the local attractions - our highlights were the steam railway, drinks by the river at the Swan Hotel, and walking around Coniston water from the lake bank jetty. I must admit, we stayed in the house a fair amount since the dogs and kids were so happy playing in garden! All in all, a long weekend wasn’t enough - we will be returning soon!
