  • "Granary loft was ideally suited to 2 people, really comfortable and easy to relax."

Heating was excellent on a cold Cumbrian day to come in from the cold and relax. Great night's sleep in a comfy bed, with enough storage in the bedroom (I hate places which don't give you anywhere to take your clothes out of the bag). And a heated bathroom floor, Luxury!

  • "Staying at this 17th-century farm was fantastic."

The Granary Loft is very comfortable, modern, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a 15-day stay. The parking was easy and the location was excellent. The owners were very nice and accommodating and the barnyard cat was friendly. Thank you!

  • "Good location, fantastic property, extremely clean and tidy accommodation."

Love the fact the property was on a farm, and enjoyed the fact that there were sheep down by the gate one morning. Enjoyed the two cats that came to visit, and the location made our stay very peaceful and quiet. All in all, an extremely peaceful and relaxing 5 days away. Would Highly recommend to friends and family.

Great base and location, close to Windermere. lovely walks around the surrounding area, my children loved the roaming sheep! owners so friendly and welcoming, let my children play in their garden with the dogs and they found the alpaca’s very amusing. Overall a wonderful week away, would highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Great conversion, quiet & appropriate facilities. Beds somewhat on the firm side so did take some getting use to. Clean and homely property & friendly hosts. It'll be great to see the rest of the farm polished up & further developed in the future.

Just 20-30 mins from Lake Windermere in the car. Museums and Zoos and Temples galore and views that take your breath away. Sarah and David are really wonderful and helpful and they made us very welcome on their farm. The Alpacas are a must to see! We would return in a heartbeat. The accommodation is very cosy modern and well equipped.

So nice to walk out the farm gate onto the common with its walks & lovely scenery. A nice walk through bluebell woods & along the coast to Baycliff & the opposite way to Bardsey. Enjoyed the climb & views of Windermere up Gunners How near Newby Bridge even saw a Hercules plane flying below us. A lovely holiday.

  • "What a perfect getaway and fabulous hosts."

We travelled for our ‘stay cation’ with our toddler. Nearly 3 and his first long weekend away. The Granary loft was perfect. It had everything we needed and on a beautiful farm with animals too! The scenery is breath taking, the beach near by is beautiful and the local pubs in Baycliff - the farmers - wow! We can’t wait to come back. Thankyou and if you’re looking to book with a small child it’s perfect! Take a bed guard and a High chair or booster and you’re sorted!kitchen sink big enough for a wash down for a toddler too

  • "This was absolutely gorgeous location with an amazing property."

It was so fresh and clean when we arrived and really was set up to meet all our needs. The kitchen really did have everything you could need to self-cater. We went to both Booths and Aldi in Ulverston, so it's not even out of the way to get what you need. We met the owners quite a few times (who are really nice), as this is a working farm set on Birkkrigg Common, which is great for walks and even has a small Stone Circle. Our girls loved seeing all the sheep and Alpacas. And on top of all of this you can't beat the view of Morecambe Bay, literally from wherever you stand you get vistas of it. It's within walking distance or 2 minute drive for walks on massive tidal beaches. All in all we had an amazing time and the only slight draw back, and I know this personal preference, would be a softer bed, and that's just me.

  • "Spotlessly clean, good communication, great facilities - couldn't be happier!"

My only suggestions would be: - providing a tea towel in the kitchen - even if you use a dishwasher most of the time, it's handy to have a tea towel for the odd cup. glass etc - The TVs kept switching themselves on when on standby so there could be a connection issue/fault. It would be good to look into this.

Accommodation just lovely, lovely setting, lovely surroundings and a fantastic easy access spot for local attractions and facilities. Great to have a convenience store just done the road, as the same for a gym too. We visited Lake Windermere with just a 20 minute drive, couldn’t recommend anymore. Amenities at the accommodation were limited ie. tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oils, sauces ect. Would have been great to have had these upon arrival (mostly for a cup of tea). Not a critic as such just a great addition to a great stay! One of our favourite stays with Sykes to date.

  • "A lovely apartment set in a very rural and picturesque location overlooking Morecambe Bay."

It is extremely well equipped, guaranteeing a very comfortable stay. It’s a short drive along the Coast Road to Ulverston, so the beauty of The Lakes is within easy reach, but don’t forget Ulverston itself, with a traditional Market twice a week, and many lovely little shops and cafes to visit along its cobbled streets and alleyways. BUT.....the location listed in Booking.com is incorrect. The Granary Loft IS NOT in or near Soutergate, Kirkby in Furness. It is on the outskirts of Ulverston, several miles away. The postcode given IS correct, so if you tap that into your Sat Nav it will take you right to the gates of Low Sunbrick Farm, where the Granary Loft is nestled. You won’t be disappointed.

About the location

Ulverston 2 miles.

Set on a hill looking across to Morecambe Bay is the small village of Bardsea. This remote area grew from a small fishing village and farming area into a major transportation link for coal, iron ore and corn. No longer a vital port, Bardsea still retains its fishing heritage, and features a pub serving fine ales and good food. The village is close to spectacular Furness Abbey, while the ancient market town of Ulverston is just 2 miles away, and still has a street market every Thursday and Saturday, plus many festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in September and a superb Dickensian weekend in early December. With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park, beaches and good birdwatching of the Furness coast close by, this peaceful and quiet area has plenty to offer.
