Hudeview was lovely.

Gill, the owner was very welcoming and very helpful when my daughter visited with a faulty airbed, Gill went out of her way and lent us a mattress. A lovely touch was the homemade bread, jam, biscuits and milk which Gill very kindly left for me. The views from the living room and bedroom windows were stunning. The bathroom and bedroom were huge and airy. The step into the property, I found a little difficult at times, but there is a grab rail, so was okay. All in all, I had a lovely holiday. Thank you Gill.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

The views were amazing and a bonus that we had an enclosed field/garden for our dog to run around in. The cottage has great big rooms which has been tastefully renovated. We would definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Hudeway View , what an amazing cottage .

We were met by the owner who made us feel very welcome & the homemade bread was outstanding. The cottage had everything we needed , it was clean & the views were unbelievable . We loved sitting outside with our coffee & watching the wildlife , we will definitely be returning

Meet the owner on arrival, very friendly and welcoming, gave us some information about the property and the area, very clean and tidy, with a large bedroom and bathroom, and a good size lounge/kitchen, a very nice fresh loaf some butter and milk had been left for us, very nice touch , the only think we would have liked were some small side plates as there were only large dinner plates, plenty of walks and things to do within 30/40 minutes drive from the accommodation and a nice pub ,coffee shops and fish and chips shop in the village

We loved the panoramic view from the bedroom every morning. Both the bedroom & bathroom was huge. The special location was perfect for trips out to a number of lovely towns/villages Richmond and Durham were delightful , not forgetting The Tan Hill Inn and High Force waterfalls.

A beautiful, peaceful location, perfect for two people and a great base to explore Teesdale.

There is everything we need provided, and on both occasions it has always been presented to a very high standard. The tranquility of where the property is situated, is everything we want, and the views from it, are just stunning. With a lively young labarador to keep occupied, just being able to sit in the garden, throw a ball, and let him run after it,knowing he isn't going to destroy well tended to flowerbeds, instantly puts our mind at ease, and the ability to take him on a walk on a lead, through the meadow bed at the bottom is the icing on the cake. The owners Gill and Kev, make us feel so welcome, and nothing is too much trouble if one has a querie. Brilliant place to stay.

The property is clean warm and comfortable with everything you need. We love the area with great walks from the door, a fantastic view and easy stroll into the village.our dog loved the enclosed garden and easy access to the river.

The cottage is everything and more than was in the Sykes listing.

It is the perfect place for one or two people. It is clean, spacious, has amazing views from the living kitchen and bedroom and is close to Middleton in Teesdale for amenities. There are dozens of walks on the doorstep so it’s just perfect. Gill and Tony, the owners, are really helpful and are at the end of the phone if required. The hot fresh loaf of bread with butter and jam on arrival was amazing and a lovely start to my perfect week.

How can I follow all the other brilliant reviews preceeding mine.

I could start off and complain about some ridiculous minute piece of dust on the outside of the window. Or i could moan about the hard mattress,but actually it was a fabulous sleep every night. It did not rain every day, instead we had to suffer almost clear skies and very warm sun on bare skin. Every thing else was OK, another boring 10 out of 10. Actually, every thing was exceptionally superb. Even our Hostess was very friendly. We have already booked for next March. It was extremely quiet, peaceful, even our 2 dogs loved it to bits. They even dragged Tanya out at 2am for a walk around the field. So Gill that's a sign of approval me thinks. Thank you very much for a top notch show. Very clean, tidy, and well decorated. In all decor was superb. Yhe best I have stayed in with Sykes. Gill and Kev, thank you very much. Tanya and Trev.

This property and facilities were outstanding.

We had a fabulous time and have booked again. Everything was perfect, views, comfortable bed, cosy and warm, shower and bath with red hot water, enclosed area for our dogs and the added enjoyment of watching lambs playing in the field right next door. The owners were lovely and left fresh bread, butter and jam. Thank you for letting us stay in your gorgeous place.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The garden is amazing with lovely views. We was very lucky we stayed when the lambs had been born. The bathroom and bedroom are spacious and we enjoyed the Netflix in the evening after a glass of wine in that lovely garden. The village chippy and Ozzys Pizzas are the best for a takeaway. Gill is the perfect host and her homemade bread was delicious. We couldn't fault it and we will be back. Also it's a perfect place to stay for an active spaniel. Our Buddy loved it too. Valerie Joy.

I needed a week away to recharge my batteries and Hudeway View was perfect for that.

A beautifully presented and comfortable property with views and lovely owners. A great area of grass for the dogs to run about on, as well as wood walks from the property. Weather could have been kinder but the sofa and woodburner soon made up for getting wet when out, or for watching the rain from in warmth and comfort!

Surrounded by sheep’s and gorgeous countryside, a 10 mim walk in to the village where there was a Co op for supplies, pubs and fab cafes. Walks from the cottage door and High Force only 15 mins car drive away. Owners were just lovely and very efficient when the heating and hot water packed up one night. Fixed very quickly . We arrived feeling drained and exhausted from busy lives and left ( reluctantly!!) refreshed and recharged and totally in love with beautiful Teesdsle. Hope to be back next Autumn.

We love the Cottage, been twice this year already!

The views are magnificent, the cottage so cosy and warm, our hosts were so friendly. Loved the bread, jam and cookies. Lots of walks to chose from. PIcturesque village with two pubs serving amazing food! We will be back!

The overall stay was very good the one thing that would improve the comfort would be to upgrade the sofa in my opinion, nothing wrong with condition just to hard for me But other than that lovely place to stay and lovely people that own the property.

Work was been carried out on their house next door and both the builders and the owners apologised for any noise or inconvenience and gave us a bottle of wine Just a lovely gesture from lovely people Thank you for making us feel welcome

We loved our stay at Hudeway Hide, we really didn’t want to leave.

The views from the cottage are simply wonderful and from its quiet location it’s just a few minutes walk into Middleton in Teesdale. It was a lovely base from which to explore this beautiful area and we enjoyed fabulous walks in woodlands and along the river. Our two spaniels, Harvey & Flora had the best time; their favourite walk was Hamsterley Forest. The accommodation is comfortable, nicely furnished and very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and we appreciated the tasty welcome hamper from the owners, Gill and Kev who are both lovely. Highly recommended!

Cottage in a lovely spot with great views. Cottage clean and has everything one needs and in a quiet location. Owner friendly and helpful. Town not too far away but near enough. Only negative was the height of step into property but improvised and managed, but others may not. Enjoyed ourselves so much came home and booked straight away for next year.

Been with Sykes for years.

Probably the most spacious accommodation we've ever had for 2 people. Welcome gifts of bread, butter, jam and milk were much appreciated. Cottage, clean comfortable and spacious. Huge bed! No isses with anything, wi fi fine, even manged to get my live football. Location brilliant for where we wanted to visit.Sadly lost our dog 6 weeks ago, but she would have loved it.

This was a lovely cozy cottage to stay in.

The owners were lovely too, very helpful. My only criticism would be that we had no wi fi at all. It would come on for about 5 mins and then go off again. I did say to the owner but he told me it was the weather, but we found we didn’t get a use of it the whole fortnight. Other than that this cottage is highly recommended, the countryside and walks around are stunning. Our dog Roxy loved her wee walk with Brian ( owners dog) round the field that they own at the bottom of the garden.

This was our second visit and once again it did not disappoint.

The accommodation was very clean with a nice welcome pack awaiting for us. The owners were very friendly and could not do enough for us. Both our dogs enjoyed the lawn area with the added bonus off being able to use the bottom field. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return in the future

Unfortunately I was ill and we had to come home early, but we will be back again as soon as we can !

The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings with many natural points of interest.

The hosts are really nice people although I only met Kev and the dog, both of whom were very friendly. Unfortunately we had to cut short our stay for personal reasons and did not get to meet Gill but I did speak to her on the phone and she sounded a lovely, bubbly lady.

This was not our first visit to this beautiful part of the world, but our first time staying in this delightful cottage which was dog friendly.

Our lovely welcome pack was a surprise and very thoughtful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the views were exceptionally beautiful. The presence of a very large garden laid to lawn, which for us having a young boisterous inquisitive labarador puppy was a Godsend as had it been planted with herbaceous and flower borders, would unquestionably have given us great cause for concern that it might not have been quite as well presented at the time of our departure. The provision of kitchen crockery, pans and utensils all met our needs. Equally, we didn't have any issues with managing to do small amounts of handwashing/laundering/drying of minimal amounts laundry in the absence of a washing machine and outdoor line, which is clearly evident on the description of the property is lacking as a facility. The only " problem." we encountered was a few spadmodic days in our second week when we lost the Internet. On one occasion this affected the television. The owner immediately acted when informed, and changed the equipment, which still didn't work, so the next day having acted and called the relevant engineers out, it was discovered that the problem lay not with the equipment, but a fault outside the owners property further down the line, so effectively absolving the owners of any blame for providing faulty and unreliable equipment, or misrepresentation of having WIFI available which was not always the case. Having already decided within 2 or 3 days of arriving that we wanted to return next year, we quickly booked our holiday in line to secure our place. It was regrettable that our early start leave meant we were unable to take the opportunity to thank Gill and Kev for allowing us to stay at their property. We cannot thank them enough, and greatly look forward to when we will be returning next June. Our puppy thoroughly enjoyed his time in the garden and the fuss made of him.

Wow, what an amazing place to relax in!

There's so many great things to say about this property and not a single negative. It was absolutely perfect! The owners left a lovely welcome pack of milk, fresh homemade bread and cookies which was much appreciated after a long journey. Gill and Kev are next door and on hand if you need anything as well as giving ideas of places to visit. We visited with our 2 labs who loved laying and playing in the garden and watching the sheep in the next field. The property was the perfect base for all of the stunning walks both locally and a short drive away. Hudeway View is extremely comfortable with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday and with the stunning views its definitely 5

Absolutely beautiful property, everything you could need for the perfect break.

The property was exceptionally clean, with lots of space and stunning views. The location is also perfect with only a 10 minute walk to the village. We took our two dogs who also enjoyed the large enclosed garden.

! The views are stunning, from all aspects. The accommodation was the cleanest we’ve ever stayed at, the shower/bathroom fabulous and the bed perfect for me with my ‘glass back’!!!! A firm mattress but still so comfortable. It’s refreshing to stay at a dog friendly cottage that actually is!! Our lurcher, who loves to run for the joy of it, thoroughly enjoyed the big garden and attached paddock, which the owners kindly allowed us to use. The welcome pack of bread/jam/milk and few essentials was very welcome! This conversion is perfectly situated a short distance from the village, with lovely footpaths from your door. Thankyou to our hosts. We will Definitely return and hope for better weather.

Great cottage with lovely views and facilities an ideal vantage point for exploring Teesdale.

Thank you to Gill and Kev for their hospitality which was gratefully appreciated. There is plenty of room for Teddy our dog and parking facility. The village is not far away and has most things you need, if running short. Would highly recommend for a short or long stay.

Gill was most thoughtful when strong winds brought a tree down onto the power lines.

We were out on a day trip and she phoned us to let us know,so that we could eat out if necessary. She sent a message later to tell us that the power was back on again. Lovely cottage, very warm and cozy, highly recommended.

Very comfortable and warm with more than enough space for the two of us and 2 dogs. The welcome pack with freshly baked bread was delicious. Magnificent views and lots of walks from the door.

Hudeway View is an annex at the rear of the owners property and is a beautiful 1 bedroom cottage, the photo's do not do justice to it.

The bathroom with its large bath an walk in shower was a delight although the shower could do with a non slip mat. The rear garden was dog proof as our 2 escape artists proved, by not being able to disappear. We had a relaxing week here and just chilled out by the log burner. Thank you to the owners for the starter pack of milk bread butter etc, and not forgetting the dog treats. I would highly recommend the cottage for a quiet getaway. Thank you.

A beautiful property.

Attention to detail was the key here, Everything else fell into place after that. Coffee tea sugar and milk for arrival and a treat of a huge cut loaf with jam and butter. But the property was amazing. Spacious, and bright and comfortable with views to die for whatever time of year you visit I suspect. We have rebooked for next year - this says it all!!

We had such a lovely week at Hudeway View, a delightfully quaint property just a short walk from Middleton-in-Teesdale.

We walked down daily to the village and tried all of the cafes (Winters was our favourite), visited the nearby river, and ventured out slightly further afield to low-force falls. We loved how dog-friendly everything was in the village, and Pepper (our labrador) could go with us everywhere! The property itself is immaculate and very well stocked for home cooking, which we do every evening. The low windows allowed Pepper to watch the sheep and we all had a lovely stay. We loved the large rooms and the decor too. If I were to make any recommendation, I would suggest some patio lights in the back garden so could see the dog in the evening (mostly to make sure she's not up to no good!) Also, some tongs in the kitchen would be welcomed! All very minor, but hope it helps! I would 100% recommend the property to anyone wishing a quiet getaway (We even may have to come back at some point!)

Hudeway view is a fabulous base to explore the north pennines, The cottage is equipped with every thing you need for an enjoyable stay with the garden and views only adding to its charm.

There are some great walks on the doorstep with café, pubs and a chip shop all within a short walk. Would highly recommend

The view from both inside and outside is stunning. The property was very clean and you are able to park just outside the door. Our dog loved the garden and was fascinated by the sheep in the adjoining fields. The location is great, with the village a short walk away and the low/high force waterfalls a short car journey away.

We had a good walking holiday despite two days of rain.

The Pennine Way path from the village to Low Force was terrible, overgrown, we had lots of bites from this walk because of the shoulder high bracken/weeds. Gill makes fabulous bread which we started as soon as we got there, butter, jam all ready for you..yummy..The bed was comfy even though we are used to a softer memory foam mattress. The position of the cottage is great, we did not use the car as there are so many walks from the doorstep.

Property very clean and surrounding views amazing wish weather had been better bathroom spot on and large bed very comfortable downside step on entrance a very high slab of stone made it so difficult to lift leg and get in also needs a rail to grab hold of to be secure anyone with a disability not suitable also constant droppings from a wood pigeon perching made it slippery which perches every night above oven not great a lack of kitchen utensils limited cupboard space lovely back lawn area and owner very obliging to sort matters out

The cottage had everything we needed and a lovely welcome package of fresh bread, lovely biscuits, tea, coffee etc. We couldn't fault the cleanliness, I have worked in the holiday cottage business so I know what to look for. The bed and pillows were lovely and comfortable. The owner was very welcoming. We simply couldn't fault it and would love to return.

Fabulous little bungalow, everything we needed to hand.

Owner left a lovely welcome pack for us with bread milk butter jam and cookies, which was very thoughtful also provided lots of information on places to go. Views were amazing, we had lambs in the fields next door, which was a lovely experience watching them play. Our 2 cavapoos also loved the trip, enclosed large garden to the rear of the property, and lots of fantastic walks on your doorstep with amazing views, we will for sure return in the future we all had a wonderful time. The cottage was very clean upon arrival, it was warm and cosy at all times and the views were superb. The location was perfect, as it is situated on the edge of town and feels to be deep in the Teesdale countryside but it is only a ten minute walk into Middleton, which is such a pleasant village with good cafes, shops and pubs. We met the owner on three occasions while we were outside the cottage. She was so friendly but never intrusive. She also bakes the most delicious bread !! I just wish there had been a visitors' book so that we could have read other people's recommendations on walks, eating places etc. and we could have left information regarding places that we had experienced.

Comfortable warm cottage for two would come back for another visit.

Stunning cottage, absolutely everything I needed was there and looking forward to returning next year.

Awful.

We booked from 8th to 15 December '23. We were rationed to heating for just 5hrs a day, in the middle of winter. Through the night it was freezing. I am disabled and one of my conditions is cold intolerance; to pay for a holiday and be put through such pain from being so cold was appalling. The control for the heating was in the owner's property, so we had absolutely no control of the heating to turn it on or off. The cooker fused on the first day, so we were without cooking facilities (other than a small microwave). The fuse box was also in the owner's property. I spoke to the owner on the phone, first thing on Saturday and was told she was away and wasn't back until Tuesday; five days into our holiday. There was no one on site to help us, in the owners' absence. Also, there were two huge steps into the property, with only one hand rail on the wall, which actually came off in my hand. So dangerous! When I spoke to the owner, I was told it would be looked at on Saturday, which was useless to me as our holiday finished on Friday morning.

The bed was so comfortable and the garden was brilliant for our little dog. Middleton in Teasdale is such a beautiful place to visit, we loved the walks straight from the cottage, especially the walk to Kirk Carrion. The people in the village are so friendly, welcoming and I definitely recommend breakfast at Samuel James Deli Cafe.

A lovely property in a beautiful location with fantastic views.

Accomodation is spacious and was very clean and well appointed. Nice welcome touch with crusty loaf and dog biscuits ! Good sized, dog-friendly garden (even my dogs enjoyed the views ). Well located for walks and visits to local sights. Middleton is just down the road. I can recommend the spectacular riverside walk from Low Force to High Force waterfalls. Teesdale is such a beautiful, unspoilt area - I will return......

The property was as described, comfortable and well equipped, with beautiful views from all the windows.

Good walks from the door and good food in local pubs. The heating being available was a nice touch after a busy day out and about and to take the chill off in the mornings. All in all an excellent holiday cottage. Gill and Kev were attentive and but unobtrusive. Thank you both.

Fantastic location, dog friendly ( dogs had an acre field to themselves, dog bowls and biscuit treats).

Cottage was clean and well equipped, milk and fresh bread on arrival. Plenty of walks nearby for both human and dog( we can recommend Kings walk which takes you up to Hudeshope Limekilns right on the edge of Middleton) Gill was a lovely host, who kept in the background. An outside hosepipe would probably be an advantage for muddy, winter walks, otherwise it was wonderful and peaceful.

Apart from being blessed with wonderful weather for the first week of September, the property exceeded our expectations and was very comfortable and extremely well presented. Unusually for a holiday home, there is plenty of storage space for your bags etc.and the owners, Gill and Kev, seem to have thought of everything to make this a lovely place to stay. Thank you for a much needed and relaxing break and we can but wish Gill and Kev continued success with their new venture Martin, Sarah and Rosie the whippet

The property is immaculate, spacious and comfortable. Everything about this little gem that is hudeway view is fantastic. Will definitely be returning again. I can't recommend this property highly enough, it is just truly amazing.

Owners friendly and helpful. Garden secure for dogs. Great location for visiting the local area and a reasonable distance for trips to Richmond, Durham and Hexham. An excellent place to stay.

A lovely place to stay, super quality oozing with style.

Direct views are amazing and so much to do in the area. Great welcome pack including jar of biscuits for the dog which made him very happy and welcome. Great lawned area to sit out on, just wonderful.

We had a wonderful stay.

Fresh bread was baked for us on our arrival. It was such a peaceful retreat and our little Jessy loved running around in the garden. I would highly recommend this accommodation. It's close to some lovely walks and close to the village where we had some amazing food. Highly recommended.

We were thrilled with our holiday home.

It was just as it was described on the website. We chose the property because of the garden and location and it didn’t disappoint. The cottage was beautifully decorated with excellent facilities. The owner was so thoughtful and baked bread for us, left biscuits for the dog, had fresh flowers on the table and left other little treats for us. All much appreciated. A fabulous holiday.

The perfect escape!

Such a lovely cottage, everything you need. Super clean & nice welcome touches - fresh bread & dog treats. Great location, lots of lovely walks, very close to beautiful waterfalls. Few local places for food & drinks just 5 min walk away. Loved it so much we wanted to add on a few more nights but the cottage was fully booked. We`ll defo be back - the view is everything!

The property is amazing, the views are wonderful, everything is fantastic, Just one thing Sheila struggled to get up the steps but thats not a complaint

Lovely surprised warm fresh bread roll with jams/butter on the kitchen surface & gorgeous tulips on the table. Gill was very welcome, friendly and polite. Massive gorgeous view. I have been recommend my friends come this... very high recommend... as honest, I wish this is my home

Hudeway View is a stunning property.

The owners really have gone all out to cater for all your needs. The property is clean and spacious, and has a large garden with a beautiful view. The pooch really enjoyed being able to talk to the surrounding wildlife! It's situated in a ideal location with the village shops etc under a mile away, and is close enough to get to all the places we wanted to go. The low/high force waterfall walk is a must. Thankyou for a wonderful stay, we will certainly be back.

Warm bread and treats for the dog were a lovely welcome and we enjoyed sitting in the garden admiring the beautiful views. A 10 minute walk and you're in Middleton with access to lovely shops and walks along the Pennine Way. Dark skies and wildlife on the doorstep another bonus.

Beautiful country cottage in such a beautiful location with stunning views.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and can’t wait to book up and return very soon. The owner was very welcoming, the cottage was spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped. Wish I could of taken the bed home as never slept so well! Lovely homemade bread and jam was left for our arrival which I thought was a nice touch, lots of places to visit and some lovely walks on the doorstep, our 2 Labradors enjoyed the walks and we’re made very welcome in the cottage with dog bowls, treats and blankets left out for them.
