Only fault had with the holiday was that it rained all week!

Beds very comfortable and loved the wool duvets. Fabulous views from the elevated position. Disappointed that a small maintenance issue wasn’t addressed in a timely manner however we managed despite the inconvenience. We would be happy to come again.

  • "Cottage was very well equipped, warm and comfortable."

Views were outstanding from the garden. Lots of positives could be listed. We found the private access road to be a big issue. It is extremely steep (1st gear steep) and has a pothole at the top. Our car struggled, with 4 passengers, so inevitably we had to leave our car in the bottom carpark. This meant a steep climb with bags, etc, everytime we went anywhere. Not ideal in the rain. The shared garden also has no gates (so not secure) and a big drop on one section. It does tell you to supervise your dog but we had to put ours on a lead everytime we let her out as she is inquisitive. Some fresh milk would have been lovely after a long drive. There were 3 mini cartons left in a tea caddy but that wouldn't have even made us one drink.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We feel that the drive is accurately described on the website and would always recommend guests check the suitability of a property prior to booking a property if any concerns. As this is a self-catering property we do not provide welcome packs as standard. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and all that the area has to provide. • "High quality stay as on previous occasions in this very well equipped cottage."

Only minor issue is that scales for weighing food are VERY inaccurate. On demand hot water proved very useful - not least for warming us up when coming in out of the rain! It was nice of the RAF to arrange a very low fly-past of 4 of their jets for us on the Thursday morning - certainly shook the foundations!

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Lingmoor View and that the hot water was a great relief! Thank you for your return visit. Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Generally a lovely place to come home to after a busy day out."

The only real negative was the slightly 'functional' look to the downstairs bedroom. The shelving at both the foot of the bed and the kitchen side of the bedroom looked like the kind of thing you'd see in a garage, which combined with the adjoining utility room did make the bedroom feel a little like an afterthought rather than the main sleeping area. Just a few changes here would make a huge difference. Don't want to moan too much, though - the rest of the property was perfectly fine. :-)

  • "This was one of the best cottages we have rented in the Lakes."

Comfortable sitting room with enough light for reading, very well equipped kitchen, sunny garden with lovely views. Our only criticism is the lack of garden furniture for outdoor dining: despite the cottage being advertised for 4 people, it was barely possible for 2 to eat outdoors using the tiny and very uncomfortable 'bistro' set. The cottage needs an outdoor dining table for 4.

Just 2 points we used the cooker and washing machine but couldn’t find any instructions but we did eventually we found them in the middle draw of the window seat, would have been better left out!! The other point which is not the owners fault is the steep drive, anyone with walking difficulties might have trouble managing the climb but all in all a perfect cottage with amazing views, we will be booking again!

  • "The property is lovely with everything that was needed and fabulous views."

My issue is with the marketing of the property. It is advertised as dog friendly with a shared garden. The garden is mentioned more than once and is indeed a fabulous place. However when you get to the property there are large signs saying dogs aren’t to be in the garden. This should be made very clear at the point of booking. As a dog owner I would never book a property without access to a garden. I book cottages several times a year and have never encountered this. At best this is an oversight, at worst it is deliberately miss leading. I loved the cottage but no longer have any faith in the company.

Thank you for your feedback Mrs Watkinson. We are pleased that you found the property was everything you needed and enjoyed its location. Regarding the shared garden area, we have clarified the situation with the owner. Dogs are allowed, however as the area is shared with other cottage owners, dog owners are requested to supervise and clean up after their pet. There is a sign inside the cottage plus information in the welcome folder politely reminding pet owners of their responsibility, it doesn’t imply dogs aren’t allowed in the garden. Apologies for the mis understanding. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have now amended the information provided and we do hope that this doesn't deter you from booking with us again, The Heart of the Lakes team Property Owner

  • "It’s a shame that guest Christine found the house dirty… when we stayed in the property it was spotless throughout."

Faultless! We used public transport to get to the cottage and did all our walking straight out of the door. This is a real plus for this beautiful cottage. Usually in rental properties there are some store cupboard items like oil and sugar … but there is literally nothing at all except salt so … useful to know that you need to bring everything! However there is a very well equipped food shop and great cafe above it in the village, a couple of pubs AND A COCKTAIL BAR - which must be visited. Loved the place so much we re-booked for two weeks later! Phone service brilliant.

  • "Views excellent, location great, walks straight from the door, cannot fault."

We are regulars to staying in the village of Chapel Stile several times a year hence we know the area very well. Appliances in the property were very good and worked well, unfortunately though the overall standard throughout was not, the armchairs and couch are dirty, we put our own covers over so we could use the couch, the dining table chairs are filthy with food and stains. Housekeeping was terrible bins not emptied in the main bedroom and bathroom (had been left full of sanitary products!) had to clean before we could unpack, this property needs to have deep cleaning carried out before it is let again.

Dear Guest, we were sorry to hear that Lingmoor View was not as clean as you expected it to be. Please be advised that the Agency cleans the property and welcomes the opportunity to correct any issues that may arise, provided they are made known to us upon arrival. Thank you for your feedback. • "Great property and location."

No complaints whatsoever. Really well furnished and very clean. We will be back for another holiday here. FYI the refuse was not collected on Thursday and now there are two full bins which might concern the next party in the property. Also, the ensuite toilet's overflow is running into the bowl which won't concern guests but could add to the owner's water bill.

Good provision of cooking utensils and the washing machine was super. The heating remained a mystery all week..either too hot or not on unless boosted but boost was set at 3 hours which then overheated the house. All four of us adults tried to make the tumble dryer work, using the instructions but it did not dry anything. We were otherwise extremely pleased and would happily book again.

  • "Having the information folder hidden in an obscure storage basket on arrival was not helpful - we found it on our last day."

Only downside on cleanliness was not down to your cleaners but previous occupants had left greasy utensils and roasting tray which was disappointing. Other than that cottage was excellent and the stunning views more than made up for the excitingly steep access road! Would be well worth mentioning to occupants the footpath which can be accessed just up the road to the quarry which saves the steep descent/ascent if walking into the village.
