    Lovely and peaceful away from the hustle and pressure of life!! Perfect comfortable retreat set in paradise. Ideal for anyone who wants peace and quiet and needs to escape life!! Lovely clean, well maintained terraced cottage, lovely walks close by. Carlisle town within reasonable driving distance for food shopping etc.

  • "It was the second time I was staying at this lovely house."

    The location is excellent with access to many great walks starting from the village or a 10-15 minutes drive. The house is very well equipped and both rooms are good-sized. I would definitely go back.

  • "Wow this luvly cottage gave me so much happiness and freedom to explore it's surrounding beautiful countryside and historic places."

    It has all you need for a wknd or a long week. The kitchen well supplied with all you need for cooking,living room with charm,just sad no roaring log fire☹️ but the view of birds upon the rose bush outside the living room window in the day brings a smile. The bedrooms were so luvly to have a great night sleep in and wake to great views outside the windows. So thank you for providing a beautiful cottage that will stay in my memories and hope to one day use again for more adventures

  • "The property and surroundings are lovely."

    Garden is full of birds and butterflies which our daughter loved. Great local walks with the dog and also short drive to amenities. Owner very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

  • "I very much enjoyed my stay at this lovely house."

    The house is spacious and the kitchen is fully equipped and great for cooking. The garden is lovely and there are some great walks around the area, which is absolutely stunning. Highly recommended :)

  • "Quiet backwater with a lovely garden which was ideal for our short stay in the area where we wanted to visit Vindolanda and Hadrians wall."

    An interesting historical plus was discovering the heritage of Tindale which at one time was the industrial working home of Stehenson's Rocket before it was saved for posterity.

  • "Tindale can be a wild place in winter, but would be lovely in summer!"

    The house is compact but has everything you need including two good sized bedrooms. Wildlife is plentyfull and we even found a young Deer eating the plants in the back garden one morning! Would certainly have no hesitation in staying in Tindale again - but this time in summer! The scenery is impressive and there are walks right from your door.

  • "Excellent value for money and great for a quiet holiday."

    There is the potential for some nice walking - given reasonable weather! The owner has a small library of interesting and informative books, which were appreciated. A very interesting and extensive back garden and great views of the nearby North Pennine fells.

  • "Our first week at 3 Tindale Terrace was good - anyone needing a quiet place to stay with interesting topography and walks on the doorstep need look no further!"

    The only downside was the weather on 2 or 3 days - rain and strong winds! However, this was October and the terrace is located on high ground. So, changeable weather was not unexpected! Hallbankgate and Brampton are a few minutes drive away, so groceries are not a problem (or pubs if you enjoy a drink). The accommodation was fine, but we would have welcomed curtains or a blind in the downstairs toilet. I tried to explore the back garden, but found it to be much longer than anticipated and could not reach its end! The owner has a very interesting collection of books and guides/maps for exploring the wider area and there is plenty to see and experience around Tindale, Brampton and area. I would certainly recommend 3, Tindale Terrace for a small family or a couple looking for something quiet and a little different! I wish I had had more time in which to do some walking in the area, but couldn't fit it in this time.

  • "Very nice property and it looks a lot better in real life!"

    we were very pleasantly surprised! Very nice remote location that is very picturesque just what one needs on holiday! Cottage is very warm, cosy, very comfortable bed, pretty bathroom, loads of nice books to read, games for children, and even a large soft deer which was a great delight for an 8 year old! Owner was near by and was very responsive and just lovely! We really liked the interior of the cottage it was so very cute! And garden is very pretty! Very nice cooker and cooking utensils and even plates were very pretty! It was a very well made property with love and care and we really felt it.

    Lots of places to visit and walks. The house has everything we needed. The back garden is shared with next door and closed off. Lovely to sit out and let the dogs have a potter around.

Enjoying a rural position, overlooking the Cumbria countryside, whilst offering pet-friendly accommodation and an enclosed garden, the cottage makes the ideal base for a family break, inviting four guests.

Park up off-road before heading indoors, firstly reaching the fully-equipped kitchen/diner, where you can fulfil your self-catering needs before dining as a group; you'll also find a washing machine and a dishwasher for an easier stay.

Continue through to the sitting room to relax and catch up on your latest programmes, or head outdoors to bask in your surroundings a little longer.

When sleep calls, select between two bedrooms, including a double and a twin, both serviced by a bathroom and a handy cloakroom.

Awaken to explore the countryside, firstly stopping off in Hallbankgate to stock up on the essentials and to dine out.

Within proximity you'll find Talkin Tarn Country Park, offering the perfect setting for an afternoon stroll, or for those keen walkers, head to RSPB Geltsdale nature reserve, also ideal for bird watchers and wildlife spotters.

Head for the city of Carlisle, brimming with history and culture, where you can tour Carlisle Castle, ramble through the pretty grounds of the Carlisle Chinese / Italian Gardens, stroll alongside River Eden, discover Tullie, showcasing local history and art, or explore the magnificent structures of Carlisle Cathedral.

HALLBANKGATE

Situated on the North Westerly edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the picturesque village of Hallbankgate. Once a former coal and lead mining settlement and home to the renowned Lord Carlisle's railway, Hallbankgate is now a lovely holiday destination, nestled amongst the unspoilt scenery of Cumbria with fascinating limestone quarries resting on its southern end. Named after Lord William Howard of Naworth castle, the traditional, 17th century pub of The Belted Will is highly rated amongst the locals and boasts friendly service and great food. Hallbankgate additionally hosts a handy supermarket, where holiday-goers can grab all of their essentials during their stay. The village backs onto the nature reserve of RSPB Geltsdale, where walkers and cyclists can wander through to their heart's content whilst spotting the Cumbrian wildlife. The Talkin Tarn Country Park is even closer to the village and is an extremely popular fishing and picnicking spot. Travel further afield to Lanercost, where history fans will be pleased to discover the stunning ruins of the once-glorious Lanercost Priory, before continuing on to the remains of Hadrian's Wall.
