  • "A lovely peaceful location convenient for local towns and beautiful walks."

The outlook from the cabin is lovely, surrounded by trees but only a short walk to the marina and the reception area. Everything is provided that you need which is great. Cannot fault the overall superficial cleanliness but the sofa appeared grubby, probably given the material and inability to deep clean between visitors. There are parts that appear tired and there are some marks and stains around. The number of air freshener devices caused problems for me. A plug in device in each room and 3 vases in the lounge was overpowering from the minute we opened the door. The bed was ridiculously uncomfortable as there was wood between the base and mattress and what little sleep you do get is interrupted by the hot tub noise throughout the night right outside the window. This would be the same in one of the twin rooms. The hot tub could be a lovely addition however it quickly cools and the fast jets seem to add cold water, which is not particularly beneficial at the end of the day. Given the amount we paid and the facilities and experience we have had in other lodges on this site and at other locations we feel this was a very overpriced break and to be honest we have arrived home feeling disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very proud of our lodge and always try to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay and are disappointed you didn't fully enjoy your stay. Comfort of beds is always difficult as people have varying needs. We like to ensure the lodge smells fresh hence the plugs ins but these can easily be turned off if offensive. The vases all contain fake flowers so give off no aroma. We always send a welcome email and also provide details of the hot tub provider in case of any issues but we heard nothing during your stay and would have been happy to assist with any issues you had if contacted. • "We enjoyed a lovely week, 18th August, at Skiptory Howe."

The position of the Lodge and the location were great, and enjoyed many morning walks down to the Marina. An added bonus was having the Hot tub. Facilities on site were adequate for our needs. We would definitely book again. If i were to add suggestions perhaps a Hoover, and additional tea towels, being provided, would have been a bonus, however the site does a have a laundrette which we used.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We have now installed a hoover in the property following this request from yourself and a previous guest. With regards to tea towels we provide a kitchen starter pack to assist guests, however as this is a self catering holiday we always recommend guests take enough to cover what they may need for their full stay. Other than the weather everything was great. If I were to make a couple of comments is that the Tvs are to high and an electric hoover would of been a lot better than the push along carpet cleaner supplied.

Does not give access to Netflix, Sky TV, Screen Sharing etc. Investment of around £300 on TV will be great. The two small bedrooms had 2 single beds I think 2Ft6in which made Bedroom very congested. Consider having a 4ft Bed which is sufficient for most couples.

The lodge was very clean, it smelled amazing when we walked in and had decorations up. The kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub was fantastic, the canopy over was brilliant so we could even go in when it rained. The location of the lodge was great, one of the more private ones we have stayed in. Our only issue was the beds, they were so hard we couldn't sleep.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're sorry you didn't find the mattresses to your liking and hope this didn't spoil your stay too much. Eileen and Graham Jones (owners). Property Owner

  • "Absolutely stunning Lodge."

Best ever stayed in especially for cleanliness. Would definitely stay here again if we go back. Very comfortable as well and cosy. Only suggestion is for an outside light to be put by the steps as the light outside isn’t bright enough to cover the steps. Had to use the car headlights to light up the steps. Two shower heads is brilliant especially the rain head however the shower tray could do with a lip as the bathroom floor floods. Hot tub is a bonus. I never thought I would get in one but it is brilliant. Especially after a day around the lakes. My wife wanted to bring it home. Other than that we had no issues. Everything was perfect. Well done to the owners Eileen and Graham for a perfect lodge. Erroll and Tracey.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We'll take a look at the outside lighting to see if we can rectify this. Eileen and Graham Jones (Owners) Property Owner

Booked up for next month again as I remember why I came last year. very comfortable and loved the facilities. TV could do with some form of casting function so can hookup smart devices to play netflix etc. But that is a very minor grumble. One only issue when staying there (which isn't the owners fault or real problem with the property) was the noisey neighbours (they had 3 dogs and were out barking from 4.30am till the owners eventually got up at around 7am) *please edit this part for online publishing as it's not relevant to the property and more to do with the people who hired the property*

Could not have had a better service.

When we had problems with the tap and a plug the owner swiftly got people out to resolve it! No wifi but that didn’t bother us too much as it meant the teenagers had to talk to one another. Would benefit from a bbq slab and the outside area could do with more than 4 chairs as the cabin sleeps 6. We would definitely book again

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you do visit again. With regards to a BBQ we feel there is too much of a potential fire risk in providing this and therefore made a conscious decision not to provide one. The outside furniture is a cube set with four chairs and four stools so plenty of seating for outdoors but do take on board maybe the need for chairs rather than stools and will look into this further. Rude owner who accused us of damaging a cupboard door and then retracted this statement when we disagreed. WiFi does not work.

Thank you for your feedback. I think there is a misunderstanding regarding the damage done whilst you and your party were at our lodge and no retraction was made. We asked for more time to investigate the damage to the kitchen cupboard door and were happy to advise it was not as bad as the pictures we were provided with by our cleaner and therefore would not need to replace the door at your cost. We're sorry you feel we were rude whilst addressing this and also the mess left behind by your party, this wasn't our intention and we were more concerned in trying to resolve the damage situation. You are correct regarding the WiFi which we agree is very pool, however, this is provided by the site and we have no control over this, however, guests are made aware of this on the Sykes website and also within our welcome email. We provide a well presented lodge and we take great pride in maintaining the lodge to a good standard and are sorry that on this occasion it didn't meet your expectations. Property Owner

  • "Having had a horrid journey we arrived and found the lodge exactly as described in the write ups and photos, it was lovely and clean and we settled in very quickly and easily and before long were enjoying the benefits of the hot tub."

Everything we needed was in the lodge. We had booked the tree top and boat hire from brockhole and as it was so close we walked and used the ferry to get around, other than a day at the zoo. We found everyone helpful during our stay and Eileen was very quick to answer our queries when we needed to get in touch. The site is amazing as a base and we did buy a pass for the family but in all honesty we didn’t really need it, we only went swimming once and the movie night, which had to be moved indoors because of the weather, wasn’t the best but they did try and get everyone sorted. I would highly recommend this lodge.

  • "There was a light hanging out of the ceiling the bathroom and particular around the shower was mouldy."

But worst of all when the old kettle blow the electricity I had to climb over all sorts of rubbish at the back of the lodge to switch it back on. So bad I twisted my ankle and cut my leg. I have pictures

Thank you for your feedback.  We wanted to reassure you we will look into all and address any issues.  We would like to note the kettle is not old and it was unfortunate this was the item that caused the power surge that resulted in the fuse box tripping.  Once notified we replaced this immediately.  As the lodge is set in a woodland area there is natural wood debris but access to the fuse box is not impeded, however, we will contact the park to remove any other items there may be at the back of the lodge as they are responsible for any land beyond our decking area. With regards to the bathroom, there is some recurring mould on the shower sealant which our cleaners are trying to address, however, this does not detract from how clean the lodge is it is just an unfortunate result of constant use and a common problem in many homes but we will of course try to address it more aggressively.  We understand you had already installed yourself in the lodge hours before the 4:00 pm check in time despite being made aware of this by both Sykes and us the owners and complained to the cleaners about the lodge not being cleaned which added to the pressure for them to complete their task.  We can assure you we take great pride in maintaining our lodge to a good standard and are sorry that on this occasion it didn't meet  your expectations. Such a beautiful lodge with very high attention to detail taken with the cleaning before we arrived. The lodge smelt extremely clean with a care package of essential cleaning supplies left in the lodge was much appreciated. It was very well equipped with everything you needed for your stay. Situated on a beautiful plot very quiet with a secure balcony for the children to play safely away from and traffic. From 2 adults who suffer with bad backs we were amazed at the mattress in the master bedroom it was so supportive and maybe the best one we have ever slept on. The hot tub was wonderful and was checked twice a day by a hot tub company for our peace of mind and safety. The owners were lovely and friendly and always on hand to assist with and queries. Can not recommend highly enough we will be returning in the future.

Hot tub was excellent and checked twice a day by very helpful lads. Everything smelled fresh and was lovely and clean. If I had to criticise - the bathroom sink was not worth having - there is space for a larger sink and I would change that. The park staff were lovely and friendly with a nice clubhouse. Very pet friendly site. If you are visiting you must do the Hard Knock Pass it is stunning but hairy in parts!!

Thank you for your feedback. We just wanted to respond to your comments and assure you we take them seriously. With regards to the double mattress, this is less than 2 years old and is a memory foam mattress so can only apologise you didnt find it comfortable during your stay. Weve fed back to our cleaning company regarding the left behind clothing, litter outside and the mould in the shower cubicle and they will ensure this is addressed immediately with their staff. We understand your frustration with the shower leaking and loose toilet seat, however, if you had contacted us at the time this could have been rectified immediately through the local maintenance team (our direct contact details are in the welcome email we sent to you). It was a luxury having the fabulous hot tub but the lack of a washing machine/ dryer on site was a let down. I know there is a launderette on site ( 2 washing machines one of which was out of order) but we found it impossible to access this. The beds were very comfortable but the twin rooms were small and lacked adaquate storage. Better quality bedside cabinets would provide enough drawer space for two people. More hooks needed in bedrooms and bathroom. A brush for the outside decking would also be useful. I tried to report fault with mesh on the decking to Sykes via online chat on the app but was told to ring the Sykes number. As I was having problems with my phone signal this was very unhelpful and I couldn't see the point. Overall we had a good, relaxing family break.
